Yes - it looks very very nice. :nervous:

Arial 04-06-2005 07:58 AM

My personal preferece would be if other people could request awards for a member, rather than the member requesting an award for themselves.

That's why you need to fill in "Recipient username"

What I am considering here is, what information I need to ask in the form

Right now, I just ask for (fullname - as reference), recipient username, and reason. should that be enough?

dssart 04-06-2005 09:24 AM

If you are really going to get into the "awards nomination" add-on, some points to consider:

1. Award nomination periods. Either by specifying an active nomination period or simply an "on and off" button to activate the nomination option. For example, assume you have a monthly award given out to the member with the most votes. I know as an admin I don't want to see these vote things in my mailbox every day for every month of the year. I would simply specify the dates I want the nominations to begin and the option to vote would become available. For a more inelegant solution, a simple "on and off" button would work.

2. Results tallying. All these nominations should be automatically tallied so I don't have to keep track of who gets so many votes and for which award (if awarding different awards during the same nomination period).

3. One nomination per member, per event. Fairly self-explanatory there. Similar to how the VBulletin polling system handles voting fraud by only allowing you to vote once.

mtha 04-06-2005 07:20 PM

I dont really "get into" the awards request/nomination much, but will consider doing it. yeah, "nomination" is a much better word than request :D, as of considering "award"

I'll put a on-off button for this.

Rightnow, I just had that request posting to a thread. for function, have to create a database. some information would be something like:
ID - award-ID - recipient - from - reason - time (and approved check for admin)
need also a seach on awards based on time,recipient

hmm, means checking award_id and userid during that time ...

:squareeyed: alot of work here. ok, will get into detail when I work on it, for future release. Thanks dssart

*btw, did you install/click install? :D

dssart 04-06-2005 09:08 PM

Actually I was going to wait until the next release..or should I just go ahead and install it now?

up to you, maybe you should go ahead and install, since it's gonna take a while until the next one. I have some other work to do.

I like, (assuming our conversation is what spawned this) :)

Lionel 04-08-2005 08:20 AM

I can't display in memberlist. The instructions for memberlist are referring to private.php

Can't wait for awards request and limit in postbit.

Bahrain VIP 04-08-2005 12:20 PM

i just fixed it with some error in viewing the member profile .. when r u going to add it to the postbit ?

Ski-Whiz 04-10-2005 09:18 PM

I had minor troubles, but got it to install, after manually entering the cat table, and then adding the default category myself..

Other than that installed ok.. Now to check it out.. :D

So far I like this hack, and will click install upon deciding if I like it.. :D

Thanks!! I love your quick responses to people.. :D Way to stick behind your hacks!!

Good Job!

sorry I post the wrong file. anyway, please wait for the next version coming up.

Limit in postbit will be available in the next release.
for award request, I am considering between my simple request of sending a request/nominate form, or dssart's suggestion. maybe I will make my form available for now, and work on the other options laterz/.

... what's error do you get? what do you mean by "add it to the postbit"?
the awards are displayed in postbit fine, isnt it?

Questions:

do you guys want to have an option to turn on/off displaying in postbit. memberlist

turn on/off displaying icon/image in awards list?

should I limit the number of awards displayed in memberlist, the same as the number of awards displayed in postbit?

mtha 04-12-2005 08:11 AM

award settings

dssart 04-12-2005 09:24 AM

A suggestion if you are playing with selectable options on how the postbit is displayed..I like how Arial's postbit has the small link displayed for anyone who wants more information about the award. New users will always ask either in the forum or via PM what these little graphics were. This way the entire awards program can be displayed to the newbie. I think Arial's hack on your hack would be a great addition to your..umm..hack.

Arial 04-12-2005 09:38 AM

Told you they would like that Mtha :-) LOL

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...chmentid=25419

what "options" should be there, for display?

@Arial, hehe, but I dont like the way I did it for you, so I will have something else better released soon, as in the demo, with total awards, and a link (more...) maybe :P

if you dont want the "more ...", just make it More Medal Info, heheh

Maybe a choice between two or three different "stock" YAAS layouts? similar to how VBulletin offers a choice between layouts. Layouts could be a combination of how awards are displayed ( small and numerous or large and not so numerous ) and how the link text is displayed ( top, bottom )..I'm just shooting out rough ideas..

Whatever you do, it will be cool. At least you are in the forum and listening to us. That alone deserves praise.

You admins (who install the hack) should decide what and how to display awards, shouldnt you?
I dont see a point of switching between small+numerous and large+afew in a long run. you just need to decide from the beginning, and go with it. if you want to have it big, make your "icon" big, and limit the awards being displayed "few" (like what Arial has), and vice versa. one time deal.

dssart 04-12-2005 11:31 PM

Sure..no problem..you seemed to be interested in hearing suggestions, I offered suggestions. No big deal.

Basically, you need to make changes for some new functions to work.

File changed in this version:

/admincp/index.php => add link to awards system settings
member.php
showthread.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit
showpost.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit
announcement.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit
private.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit
memberlist.php => NEW, show award in Memberlist
/include/functions_online.php => NEW, show location in WhoisOnline

Templates changed in this version:

MEMBERINFO
postbit => show # of awards and link to profile
postbit_legacy => show # of awards and link to profile
memberlist => NEW, show award in memberlist
memberlist_resultsbit => NEW, show award in memberlist

TTG 04-14-2005 12:05 PM

After running the upgrade the additional column is now in the memberlist but not showing any awards even though the awards are showing in the member profile. Do the awards only show in the member list for new awards achieved after this upgrade.

make sure you have the following:

Pre-requirement:
1. You have some awards in stock
2. The member you are looking at, has some award
3. You have the option Display in postbit = YES
4. Maximum Awards Displayed > 0

make sure you did the follwing changes:

Make sure you did edit postbit (or postbit_legacy) template on the current using style.

HTML Code:

<!-- show awards -->
<if condition="$post[showuserawards]">
<div>
$post[userawards]
<br>
$vbphrase[total_awards]: $post[num_awards] (<a href="member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$post[userid]#award">$vbphrase[more_awards] ...</a>)
</div>
</if>
<!-- /show awards -->

That's all what you need to do to show awards in "showthread", edit other files for other pages.

Hope you can get something out of it. It's hard to help if you provide me NO information, except saying "It will not show up"

I still suggest you to install BoardMod and let it edit files automatically. it's quick, and it's easy. it also has option to show you to edit step by step too. I create the "file edit" mod in that program, before ... making the html instructions.

Regards,

is that when you showthread? are you sure you did change the file correctly?

I DONOT have anything in showthread.php that ORDER BY au.issue_time, Could you check the awards_install_file.html and make the correct changes to the file? if the errors still there, send me the showthread.php that you have.

here's what you need to change in showthread.php:

Code:

<edit file>

        'pollresult',
</search for>

<replace>
        'pollresult',
