More ... demo
award request form and result as a post in some forum. Let me know if you like it or not. I will consider adding to a later release :) |

My personal preferece would be if other people could request awards for a member, rather than the member requesting an award for themselves.

What I am considering here is, what information I need to ask in the form Right now, I just ask for (fullname - as reference), recipient username, and reason. should that be enough? |
If you are really going to get into the "awards nomination" add-on, some points to consider:
1. Award nomination periods. Either by specifying an active nomination period or simply an "on and off" button to activate the nomination option. For example, assume you have a monthly award given out to the member with the most votes. I know as an admin I don't want to see these vote things in my mailbox every day for every month of the year. I would simply specify the dates I want the nominations to begin and the option to vote would become available. For a more inelegant solution, a simple "on and off" button would work. 2. Results tallying. All these nominations should be automatically tallied so I don't have to keep track of who gets so many votes and for which award (if awarding different awards during the same nomination period). 3. One nomination per member, per event. Fairly self-explanatory there. Similar to how the VBulletin polling system handles voting fraud by only allowing you to vote once. |
I dont really "get into" the awards request/nomination much, but will consider doing it. yeah, "nomination" is a much better word than request :D, as of considering "award"

I can't display in memberlist. The instructions for memberlist are referring to private.php
Can't wait for awards request and limit in postbit. |
i just fixed it with some error in viewing the member profile .. when r u going to add it to the postbit ?
|
I had minor troubles, but got it to install, after manually entering the cat table, and then adding the default category myself..
Other than that installed ok.. Now to check it out.. :D So far I like this hack, and will click install upon deciding if I like it.. :D Thanks!! I love your quick responses to people.. :D Way to stick behind your hacks!! Good Job! |

for award request, I am considering between my simple request of sending a request/nominate form, or dssart's suggestion. maybe I will make my form available for now, and work on the other options laterz/. Quote:
the awards are displayed in postbit fine, isnt it? Questions: do you guys want to have an option to turn on/off displaying in postbit. memberlist turn on/off displaying icon/image in awards list? should I limit the number of awards displayed in memberlist, the same as the number of awards displayed in postbit? |

A suggestion if you are playing with selectable options on how the postbit is displayed..I like how Arial's postbit has the small link displayed for anyone who wants more information about the award. New users will always ask either in the forum or via PM what these little graphics were. This way the entire awards program can be displayed to the newbie. I think Arial's hack on your hack would be a great addition to your..umm..hack.
|
Told you they would like that Mtha :-) LOL

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...chmentid=25419 what "options" should be there, for display? @Arial, hehe, but I dont like the way I did it for you, so I will have something else better released soon, as in the demo, with total awards, and a link (more...) maybe :P if you dont want the "more ...", just make it More Medal Info, heheh |

I dont see a point of switching between small+numerous and large+afew in a long run. you just need to decide from the beginning, and go with it. if you want to have it big, make your "icon" big, and limit the awards being displayed "few" (like what Arial has), and vice versa. one time deal. |
Sure..no problem..you seemed to be interested in hearing suggestions, I offered suggestions. No big deal.

2005.04.14 - Version 1.2.0
- [1.2] Options to set number of awards displayed in postbit - [1.2] Options to turn on/off showing award icon, images, award requests in awards list, awards icons in memberlist -[1.2] Display limit awards in postbit, with total awards, and a link to awards showcase in member profiles. -[1.2] Award request, link to a form sending to email/PM/new thead or post (based on Dr Erwin Loh's Form hack) -[1.2] Display award on Memberlist page - Modify awards_install.php Please read the UPGRADE5.txt for more information File changed in this version: /admincp/index.php => add link to awards system settings member.php showthread.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit showpost.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit announcement.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit private.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit memberlist.php => NEW, show award in memberlist /include/functions_online.php => NEW, show location in WhoisOnline Templates changed in this version: MEMBERINFO postbit => show # of awards and link to profile postbit_legacy => show # of awards and link to profile memberlist => NEW, show award in memberlist memberlist_resultsbit => NEW, show award in memberlist |
So basically there was no files change in this upgrade? I just upgraded and all the changes were already done. About templates? Where do we add that new link?
|

Basically, you need to make changes for some new functions to work. File changed in this version: /admincp/index.php => add link to awards system settings member.php showthread.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit showpost.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit announcement.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit private.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit memberlist.php => NEW, show award in Memberlist /include/functions_online.php => NEW, show location in WhoisOnline Templates changed in this version: MEMBERINFO postbit => show # of awards and link to profile postbit_legacy => show # of awards and link to profile memberlist => NEW, show award in memberlist memberlist_resultsbit => NEW, show award in memberlist |
After running the upgrade the additional column is now in the memberlist but not showing any awards even though the awards are showing in the member profile. Do the awards only show in the member list for new awards achieved after this upgrade.
