I need help...

I added the coding to global.php and to the navbar template. Now when I try to access my Admin CP, I get this error message:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '(' in /home/reality/public_html/admincp/global.php on line 30

I can't find the problem. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

post the line 30 of global.php to see if there's any mistake

I'm pretty new to all of this stuff... I think this is line 30 (the one in bold):

// identify where we are
define('VB_AREA', 'Forum');

// ################################################## ###########################
// Start initialisation
require_once('./includes/init.php');

// ################################################## ###########################
// Start functions
if (DB_QUERIES)
{
// start functions parse timer
echo "Parsing functions.php\n";
$pageendtime = microtime();
$starttime = explode(' ', $pagestarttime);
$endtime = explode(' ', $pageendtime);
$beforetime = $endtime[0] - $starttime[0] + $endtime[1] - $starttime[1];
'./includes/init.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php')echo "Time before: $beforetime\n";
if (function_exists('memory_get_usage'))
{
echo "Memory Before: " . number_format((memory_get_usage() / 1024)) . 'KB' . " \n";
}
}
require_once('./includes/functions.php');

if (DB_QUERIES)
{
// end functions parse timer
$pageendtime = microtime();
$starttime = explode(' ', $pagestarttime);
$endtime = explode(' ', $pageendtime);
$aftertime = $endtime[0] - $starttime[0] + $endtime[1] - $starttime[1];
echo "Time after: $aftertime\n";
echo "Time taken: " . ($aftertime - $beforetime) . "\n";
if (function_exists('memory_get_usage'))
{
echo "Memory After: " . number_format((memory_get_usage() / 1024)) . 'KB' . " \n";
}

StuKeR 01-16-2005 08:18 PM

perhaps could be the functions.php on the include... I don't see anything wrong... but I'm a lammah on that

Does the error message simply mean to take a parenthesis out of the line??

I'm new to this also.

oz_moses 01-18-2005 11:33 AM

thanks for this fantastic hack - I've installed it with CMPS and had no issues at all

Did that, then I edited the global file again. Not it works.

Thank you :)

StuKeR 01-18-2005 12:35 PM

How I can made it run I've I got navbar desactivated???

Polo 01-26-2005 02:15 PM

this hack adds alot of queries in a website, 6 minimum :( has anyone tried to optimize it?

nathanaus 01-30-2005 10:20 AM

I have found another two issues.

It relates specifically to the hack as integrated into vBadvanced.

If the user arrives as a guest - no problem the "guest please resiter" avatar shows up.

If the user logs in and has their own avatar - again no problem their avatar shows up o nthe vbadnaced page.

However, if the registered user doesn't have an avatar, they don't get the "no avatar selected" avatar. They get nothing at all. But if they go to the forum itself they then get the "no avatar selected" avatar no problem. How do I fix this?

Second issue.

Again relates to VBadvance. If you turn off the vbadnaced "welcome panel" it turns off the showing of avatars on the welcome hack. It almost defeats the purpose to have the two welcome hacks working side by side, but you don't have a choice. Any way around this?

I agree with nath.. i'm having the same issue

carolmyt 02-03-2005 02:59 PM

I also lost my breadcrumb list on the forum pages. I noticed someone else had this problem a while back, but I never saw an answer posted. It also looks like the support on this hack has disappeared. Can anybody help me out here?

SupremeWeapon 02-04-2005 05:53 AM

ive had this installed for a while now on 3.0.3 (i dont wanna upgrade:P) it installed fine on the dragon style. but im now undergoing routine maintnence and trying to put it on xtreme_fluid but when i try to edit the nav i get this

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /home/******/public_html/forums/index.php(610) : eval()'d code on line 109

i know many many many people here have gotten this yet there has yet to be a support response on this. any help?

Rogue Pan 02-06-2005 02:19 AM

@biggkay
I believe it's counting the "soft" delete threads/posts. If they weren't physically removed. I noticed that for mine, and just removed the whole bottom statistics area anywayz, so it didn't really matter to me.

biggkay 02-07-2005 03:03 AM

Rouge Pan,
Is there any way to fix this so it doesn't count them?

Rogue Pan 02-07-2005 12:31 PM

If it's the "soft" delete threads/posts being counted, physically remove them. I am not even positive that is what it is though, I just believe that it is. Why have 2 statistics show anywayz, just remove the lower one..

cbr900racer22 02-07-2005 06:30 PM

There is a way to have the user avatar show up without having the "Vbadvanced Welcome Module" loaded.

Look for the code below in global php

Code:

$bbuserinfo['user_avatar']="<img src='{$bbuserinfo['user_avatar']}' alt='Edit Your Avatar' border='0'>";
and replace it with this.

Code:

$avatarurl = fetch_avatar_url($bbuserinfo['userid']);
$avatarurl = iif($avatarurl, $vboptions['bburl'] . '/' . $avatarurl, $stylevar['imgdir_misc'] . '/noavatar.gif');

The code needs cleaning up a bit but it works

That fixed up the avatar nicely, but I noticed the same thing needs to be done with the 'Welcome to our newest member' because the user name disappears when the Stats block is turned off.

Wish I knew php better...

The code needs cleaning up a bit but it works

Thanks for taking the time to answer me.

I tried what you suggested but unfortunately it didn't work. As soon as I turn the weclome block off in vbadvanced the avatar in the welcome hack goes off too. Even after making your suggested change.

I'm having the same problem :ermm:

nathanaus 02-09-2005 12:22 AM

Problem fixed! Actually guyincorby your fix did it.

It was around 2am when I tried it and sure enough I applied the fix to global.php in the main forum not on the testing forum which is where I am testing all mods before making them live.

So today when I applied the fix to the correct file it worked perfectly :)

Great work, thank you for your help :)

Of course if I just get the "guest avatar" to show up on the vbadvance page it would be perfect :)

nathanaus 02-09-2005 07:05 AM

Found another issue. While the fix above works in that it allows the avatar to show while the welcome block is gone from the VBA page.

It unfortunately removes the avatar from the actual forum itself.

I think it's just going to be easier to have two welcome block there.

Well thanks for that.

1. I had read that
2. Re-read my post where I say "While the fix above works in that it allows the avatar to show while the welcome block is gone from the VBA page.

It unfortunately removes the avatar from the actual forum itself." Therefore I asaid the fix you quoted does resolve that issue - it removes the avatar from the forum page.

So please consider taking your own advice and read things before posting.

I notice your next post says you experience the same problem .... but you attack me for not reading the fix?

Another that's giving me some trouble is to get "New threads" in the navbar appearing as a link.

You have to change the navbar template:

Code:

        <!-- Forum Stats [] Begin -->
<div class='smallfont'><b>Forum Stats:</b><br />Threads: $welcome_topics<br />Posts: $welcome_posts<br />Members: $welcome_members<br /><phrase 1="member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$newuserid" 2="$newusername">$vbphrase[welcome_to_our_newest_member_x]</phrase></div>
        <!-- Forum Stats [] End -->

to this:

Code:

        <!-- Forum Stats [] Begin -->
<div class='smallfont'><b>Forum Stats:</b><br />Threads: $totalthreads<br />Posts: $totalposts<br />Members: $welcome_members<br /><phrase 1="member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$newuserid" 2="$newusername">$vbphrase[welcome_to_our_newest_member_x]</phrase></div>
        <!-- Forum Stats [] End -->

Polo 03-09-2005 08:21 PM

I almost have this hack working completely with my forums and cmps... but the problem that I have is that when users dont select an avatar the defaul "no avatar image" doest apear.. isntead is a borken image with the path to "http://www.mydomain.com" the link takes you to the profile to change the avatar... but the image is just broken, this happens on the rest of the site, in the front page where the cmps is, everything works great. any ideas on how to fix this?

Polo 03-09-2005 09:06 PM

ok, never mind, is working perfectly now (I dont know how I fixed it)... but now is working flawless with the cmps integrated...

Viks 04-13-2005 01:41 AM

I installed the mod.. works fine. Had some issues with CMPS with avatars and i was able to resolve most myself by editing the gif location except 1.

1. Members will no avatars cannot see any avatar in CMPS homepage - the noavatar.gid shows up only in the forums homepage. To fix this i hard coded the entire path to the noavatar.gif starting from http://myforums.com

but it still doesnt work!!
I tried the following fix.. but it does not work either.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=100

2. I would like to moify the navbar template for NON-REGISTERED members
I want to have 3 <TD> tags... 1 for image, 1 for login boxes and 1 for my custom message. (no "forum stats")

How can I achieve that? I was playing with <IF> <else> statement and the template kept screwing on me...

can someone else me with that?

much appreciated and thanks for the mod :up:

I will like to suggest to please update the install instructions with all the fixes - it will help new installers a great deal!
