Not only that silverdawn the RC1 is also not the stable release. There will be bugs...always.

deathemperor 12-25-2003 03:53 AM

Kier also said that RC1 and later version after gamma is only about bugfixes, the gamma is released publicly for people to find bug, that's brilliant :p

Some bugs can't be found unless many people use the software. :)

Silverdawn222 12-25-2003 10:10 AM

So how does that differentiate Gamma from a final version? Bugs will always continue to exist, as will the fixes for it. If it were up to me, Gamma would be the version where hacks should be getting released (as Kier said).

Of course, it's not up to me.

deathemperor 12-25-2003 10:54 AM

I thought it's good for us to wait for RC1 ( not another chance though :p ), if I'm right, the final will be released with the accpetable bugs as you said bugs will always continue to exist.
same for the RC1, hackers have started their work I think so when the RC1 is released the hacks is accepted along with bugfixes.
Anyway, can't wait for the RC1 since Kier said it will be released in late December, it's almost late :(

idwf 12-27-2003 08:34 AM

i say...

BURN THE WITCHES!!! BURN THEM ALLL!!!!!!!!!

oh, and yes....just wait until RC1. Not toooo long.

Wrong place to report this.

Sounds like RC1 will be out on the 5th (according to recent announcement) - hope vb.org will be ready for hacks - I have certainly been working on some and need lots of help ;)

Recent announcements.. I haven't been able to access vB.com for a few days now :(

ajk 12-31-2003 04:30 AM

Hi Erwin,

As usual, I'm late to this discussion.

As a non hacker myself, but I use them in 2.3.3.
Can you make a standard by which all hacks for 3.0 are written?
That way, if the vHacker mod for 3.0 works out, all hacks will be compatible.

I know everyone has their own way of coding.
I just wish there was a standardized format.
Especially with 3.0 RC1 coming closer.

Thanks in advance,

deathemperor 12-31-2003 09:32 AM

I dont think RC1 will be out in 5th ( I really hope so ), there are a huge thread in Vb.com talking about that thing ( look like a war ).
I can't access vb.com these days either :( what's wrong with it ?

Probably not because a lot of the hackers here don't like using vBhacker.

Only a small handful of hacks were for vBHacker as well.

Based upon the rate at which Mike, Freddie, Scott and I are currently dispatching bugs, we believe that we will be ready to put vBulletin 3 Release Candidate 1 in the Members' Area at some point on Monday (January 5th).
Nopes i didnt misquote ;)

Gary King 12-31-2003 06:23 PM

I must say, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't released on Jan. 5th.

MindTrix 12-31-2003 06:26 PM

I grudgenly agree but dont knock it, otherwise you will jinx it :)

Gary King 12-31-2003 06:34 PM

True true, I too hope it WILL be Jan. 5th.

deathemperor 12-31-2003 11:25 PM

I still can't log in there.

ajk 01-02-2004 11:42 PM

BTW, isn't this discussion getting WAY off topic?

Erwin was talking about the quality and control of hacks.

Now this has turned into a when's the next version discussion???

email support@vbulletin.com saying you cannot access the site and give them your customer no and the ip address you are trying to access from.

feldon23 01-06-2004 08:43 PM

If it hasn't already been said, Hacks need to be fully phrased before they should be considered for phase 2 certification (or whatever vb.org intends to call it).
