It's easy to win this contest, merge all threads together to one, in decent traffic site, you should be able to make it over 100,00 posts in one day :D.

I believe the rules state the thread must have been started after the effective date of this contest.

Can someone tell me how 738 pages with over 11,000 replies is?

well, we are getting very close to the end of this competition, and I can't believe that it has been this popular.

For everyone that has entered the competition, on the 3rd March you will need to close your longest thread, and then on the 4th i'll go and count them all, and post the winners here, I was going to give weekly updates, but too many people entered :)

cditty 02-23-2002 04:45 PM

We are at 104 pages and 7964 views. Nowhere near OldManWillow. :(

cditty 02-23-2002 04:50 PM

What say we start a new Longest Thread (pt 2) on the third? This way we can keep the same momentum we already have.

Thoughts?

Chris

In theory this is a good idea, but someone else can look after it, I don't fancy having to count all the sites that enter the new one :)

Daniel

What time zone and time to close on the 3rd March? eg midnight UTC :?:

Would hate to be disqualified because we got the time wrong!! :D

Ninth Dimension 02-25-2002 11:08 PM

well, as this is only a bit of fun, the time does not really matter too much :)

just as long as the thread is closed with I check it on the 4th when I check it, you will be OK.

Now there's a cunning way to weed a few out! Our 3rd March might be your 4th March! What time zone are you in Daniel, and we'll work it out from that.
Cheers

Ninth Dimension 02-25-2002 11:42 PM

You know, this is a very good point :)

I'm in GMT (London), although at the moment i'm sleeping until quite late in the day (being a lazy git) so you should not have too much trouble, even if the thread is not closed strictly on the 3rd, just as long as by the time I get to it, it's closed, then i'll be a happy bunny.

I just hope that everyone taking part in this competition see's this message in time :)

^FalcoN_65^ 02-26-2002 09:40 PM

Will you be posting a standings chart after the contest closes? I know we may not win, but I would like to see how we fare against everyone else.

PS:

How about we divide the total number of posts in the thread by the number of registered members of the board to get an "effective post number"

This would give the smaller sites a chance to compete!

Ninth Dimension 02-26-2002 09:54 PM

I will see what I can do regarding what you have suggested (man it's going to take me all day at this rate)

02-26-2002 10:07 PM

Thanks Daniel for clarifying that. I'll sleep better at night now.

Shouldn't this have been set from the start, instead of changed towards the end of the contest??

Have like a consolation bracket? *lol* I like this idea. I don't want to change the rules because it's already started and almost over, but the cnsolation bracket is a nice idea. Especially since I"m one of those 'small boards' who stands no way of competing, but the effort is valiant!

Since we've received no further official word on when to close down the thread, I've gone ahead and shut ours down to comply with the contest end date.

Hi Daniel

We dutifully closed our thread at midnight GMT as suggested. Now take a peek - all legal posts!

http://www.techimo.com/forum/t12106.html

And we even complied with our forum's bad language policy! :D

Have fun counting Daniel - don't let anyone sneak in any unlawful posts will ya! :D

Oh, and make sure they posted their thread in yours - woudn't want to look silly announcing a winner now, would ya? ;)

BTW if you are gonna do this again, give us a hoy - it was fun!

I think that our thread did rather well at honda-acura.net, even if we did get a late start and an early close. Our last reply was at 03-03-2002 04:07 PM which I believe to be well early of the proposed end time. I and I'm sure others we're going to kill it this evening but that's coo, we still have complete ownage. :pleased:

The small band of smelly fisherman did very well ! As of midnite there was about 4300 replies (I have a low reply/page ratio in favor of our bandwidth challenged members ;) ) of highly non-spam replies and way too many attached pictures (gonna be a biatch to clean all of those out and reduce my DB size  )

Thanks guys & gals

Is there any official word on this contest???

Dark Sephiroth 03-06-2002 10:39 PM

This thread isn't so big. RPGChat has one that's passed 110 pages!

03-09-2002 05:21 AM

Hey Daniel! Have you gotten over the headache yet? More panadol yet I think:D

How's the post counting going? Slowly, I see!

Any updates, yet? :)

Still working on it!

Newbie helping out :)

Lats...

Ninth Dimension 03-11-2002 07:41 AM

OK, now at this point I must admit that I've been a very bad boy, as i'm sure you have seen for yourself, i've been so busy with everything that is going on at the moment, including looking for a job, that this is not hight on my list of things to do, I'm REALLY SORRY!!!

At this point, can I suggest that everyone that has entered the competition please post your results to this thread please? the info that I would be looking for is as follows:

1, Number of posts (including the first one).
2, Number of users.
3, Number of pages.

Now this was just for fun at the end of the day, so I hope that no one is too upset by my not being able to do what I said I would do, but if anything this little competition should have helped all your boards get that little bit more populated :)
