DragonByte Tech 02-17-2014 11:28 PM

Hi everyone,

This week brings the first major update of DragonByte Classifieds (v1.1.0 Beta 1) Which includes 9 major changes and features as well as some bug fixes to existing features. Among the key updates included are extra notifications using the vBulletin notification system, options for randomizing the listings appearing in the advert boxes, JavaScript rotation of listings appearing in any of the advert boxes, Listing Views tracking, and two new Pro only features, an optional Auto Post a New Thread/Post on submitting a listing and a Seller's Items box that can be set to appear in a user's post footer in forum threads.

The new features are designed to enhance some of the core content and make the listings more visible to user's across the forums. We have appreciated all the feedback and suggestions that have been posted and with more updates planned we hope to include made more of the excellent suggestions that have been made. Please note that this is a Beta release and so there may well be bugs that need addressing. Any feedback on functionality and issues that you can all provide will help us immensely.

The full list of changes in v1.1.0 Beta 1 can be found below.

Remember, we have installed the latest Beta of Classifieds here on DBTech. We have created some 'fake' items and have left PayPal in Sandbox mode so that no real money changes hands allowing anyone to test how the system works. We look forward to your feedback. Go here for the latest listings: View Listings - DragonByte Tech | vBulletin Mods & Addons.

To create a PayPal Sandbox account you need to head over to this page: https://developer.paypal.com/webapps...tions/accounts. Once you login with your regular PayPal account you can then create a sandbox testing account to use to 'purchase' the items on our Classifieds.

Bug Fixes And Issue Fixes:
Fixed: Issue where invalid listing lengths could be inserted into the page before submitting the listing that would not trigger an error
Fixed: Style issue with advert boxes on the top of the View Listings page
Fixed: Invalid plugin loading in Lite version
Fixed: Issue that would prevent the total featured items updating for a user on a buy-it-now listing
Fixed: Issue where fees could be created even when an item has gone unsold
Fixed: Problem where listings that hadn't been approved before their expiry time would still count in the moderated listings count
Fixed: Missing date details from My Classifieds feedback images (in the alt and title parts of the HTML)
Fixed: Sale Email/PM not being sent when purchasing a listing with a buy-it-now

Changes To Existing Features:
Change: Moved several settings to the new DragonByte Tech: Classifieds - Listing Settings group

Additions To Product From Feature Requests Or Just Something Else Added:
Feature: Listing Lengths now include usergroup controls to allow restriction to particular usergroups
Feature: Postbit Link to My Listings for users with currently active listings
Feature: Links to Usernames now link directly to a page displaying all the user's current listings
Feature: (Pro Only) Seller's Items box above signature in postbit
Feature: Views of Listings are now tracked and stored either immediately or via a Scheduled Task once an hour
Feature: Random Adverts for Classifieds and Featured boxes
Feature: New Notifications for Feedback left and received, Items won, Items Sold and Unsold
Feature: (Pro Only) New settings to Post a thread or post for each new listing submitted
Feature: JavaScript controlled rotation setting for the Advert boxes

Known Issues:
Equal Bids aren't correctly handled

Matt, I've got people complaining that with this system we wont have history of what was being sold and traded on our forums. They are actually right.. We'd like to have some sort of a history page where they can view all items that were being sold/unsold.

Also, if there's a way users can interact with the seller publicly like posting a question on the item or asking about a discount...etc. Just a small chat box to be under each item visible for all users who are viewing the item.

Many thanks!

Hi Matt, I just installed your product on my two forums and on one I have a problem. In the forum where I use vBcover iBid, there is no button DBTech Classifieds in my admincp after installing. In one of the forums where I do not have vBcover iBid runs ok. Is it possible that your product is not compatibile with vBcover iBid? I want to uninstall iBid, but after some time, because there are still active listings...
Thanks!
Regards
Sasha

Set yourself to super administrator on the site where it is not showing up, in your includes/config.php file.

Ozzy47, thank you... now working fine :)

Hi

I installed this, this morning to see if it would suit our forum, But after installing when I click on the classifieds tab it takes me to this:

Dave

milcollector 02-24-2014 10:58 AM

Another problem, I gave permisions to view the classifieds to my usergroups in categories but they can't use them:

When they try to view the classifieds this message pops up.

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

milcollector 02-24-2014 11:04 AM

Please ignore my previous question, I have found the problem. Thanks!

Mobo 02-24-2014 02:16 PM

This mod look pretty interesting, but I have a quick question:

When you setup fees for different types of listings, are those fees paid to the owner of the site? Are there any other ways for this mod to generate income for the site?

When you can... Stay pending the 'update with bug fix reported.

In the meantime, I had to downgrade to the previous version 1.0.3 because of the thousands of emails sent by mistake by vbulletin :-(

I've had a similar request from another user this week for a history. I'll see what we can do to create something for you all to help with that. Regarding the chatbox, it might be possible to do something with vBShout, but you are better just encouraging users to use the discussion thread that can be created with listings. I'll look at adding a count of the posts in that thread to help users see what's being posted.

I can't say for sure Sasha, I've never used iBid. It might be worth double checking the files are all in the correct locations in case that's the problem.

This might be down to using rewrites. What version of vB are you using? If you have a folder on your server with the name classifieds it might be possible that it's going to that folder instead of using the rewrites correctly.

The admins can set it up so that the site receives fees to a particular PayPal account. Seller's can be charged for listing an item, and for part of it's final cost.

Try the latest Beta to see if that resolves the problem. If not, can you send me some details for your site via PM and I'll look into it.

DragonByte Tech 02-24-2014 11:50 PM

Hi everyone,

This week we have the second beta of DragonByte Classifieds (v1.1.0 Beta 2) which includes a number of bug fixes (including details of patched Beta 1 bugs) and a new feature: The ability to choose what type of notifications are used on your site, i.e. whether to send PMs and Emails or not.

The full changelog for v1.1.0 Beta 2 can be found below.

Fixed: MySQL error when viewing a thread in TapaTalk (In Beta 1 PL1)
Fixed: Watchlists items of other users being displayed for the user viewing the page (In Beta 1 PL1)
Fixed: Issue with random adverts not being correctly randomized (In Beta PL1)
Fixed: Images bleeding through drop down menus
Fixed: Issue which caused every bid from a listing to receive a 'item won' PM/email

Additions To Product From Feature Requests Or Just Something Else Added:
Feature: New Setting to enable choice of email or PM notifications, or the option to send both types or neither type[/QUOTE]

btedition 02-25-2014 03:23 AM

Thanks for the update first of all Matt,

Yes they want a thread-looking discussion that is in the same page of the listing. It'll actually help users to check on item history in the future. My forum is a car forum and we do have parts being sold right and left, It'd really help users identifying the price range of every part.

Cheers dude!

Sorry that was it, is there a manual for this product? You could spend a couple of weeks setting this up..

I can't seem to find where I could edit these questions, we would be selling live coral, fish etc

DragonByte Tech 02-25-2014 08:55 AM

The ability to deactivate parts of the form is a Pro only feature. User's can simply leave them blank, or you can edit the options for Conditions/Returns to feature just one option. :)

The error you are getting suggests that your server hasn't run the upgrade script that came with the first Beta for v1.1.0. Can you check if in your database you have the columns:

dbtech_classifieds_feedbackleftcount
dbtech_classifieds_feedbackleftcount
dbtech_classifieds_itemwoncount
dbtech_classifieds_itemsoldcount
dbtech_classifieds_itemunsoldcount

In the table user

If not, then try setting your version number in your product to 1.0.3 and then reimport the latest Beta 2 import script and see what happens.

Regarding the other MySQL error caused when viewing threads via TapaTalk, I've a new version of Beta 2 and I'm hoping this fixes the issue. :)

Uploaded a fix for that MySQL error Nelson as well as another MySQL error that was happening because of a missing column in the user table.

For the second fix to work, download the package and reupload the files. Before importing the XML, change the version number of the DragonByte Classifieds product in the Admin Control Panel > Plugins & Products > Manage Products > DragonByte Tech: Classifieds (Pro) or (Lite) > Edit to 1.0.3 and save the product.

Then reimport the XML which should add the missing column in the user table.

We will include this fix in the Beta 3 upgrade files, but this fix is there for users who want to apply these fixes before Beta 3 is ready.
