I am liking what I am seeing so far. Great job.
Do you think there will be any problems using it with this mod, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...t=registration

It will work fine, it just hooks into the plugin and not any templates for registration.

Puffin browser uses port 80 and 443, the script scans common ports for proxies and generally browsers use ports in the high numbers. So it could be throwing a false positive. I'm not familiar with the puffin browser, if it runs on port 80 it has to be running some type of server feed from another server, is this one of those browsers that cache information on their servers and then feed it back to you as the client? If so this can cause false positives from my modification.

TheInsaneManiac 08-28-2013 09:55 PM

Ok, I'm working on a whitelisting feature. Should be finished with it soon.

That's how your are able to run flash on iOS devices with Puffin. It actually runs the flash on a Puffin Server and then feeds the results back to you. Puffin is a proxy browser.

Yip, so you can choose to white list the Puffin browser, but that's an anonymous browser, so it doesn't give a true ip referral. So... even if I didn't do a whitelist for allowing Puffin browser, there wouldn't be a way to white list your ip or black list those abusers as it does not give a true ip.

I'm may just work on changing the web proxy script since it does seem to be a little delayed as it has to port scan. Given it does dig deeper, but it can give false positives. I will prolly do a check for headers instead for web proxies. Since that's what most common proxies use.

Excellent plugin, marked as installed, rated excellent, nominated plugin of the month and bought the pro version. Keep up the good work!

ForceHSS 09-01-2013 07:25 PM

Seems to be blocking Google AdSense Spider we need a option to add a host or ip or both to the allowed list

megabink 09-02-2013 05:37 AM

Seems like a very useful mod but from what i have read here i will wait until it's 100% working and then buy the pro version.
Thanks anyway.

Bubble #5 09-02-2013 05:05 PM

I was interested in buying the Pro version, but when I went to the site it didn't mention if it was compatible with 4.2.1. Does anyone know if it is?

This is a break hack, would like to support the coder for his/her efforts.

OK thanks. Just for the record I've used other hacks that said 4.x and weren't 4.2.1 compliant because they weren't fully updated. Just was looking for some clarification that's all

Does anyone know if this hack would help any for those using "Airplane Mode" from a smartphone? That's what they use to create new profiles despite being IP banned.

TheInsaneManiac 09-03-2013 03:59 AM

Just a quick update you all, one of the raid drives died on my server, so it's been down the last couple days, so I haven't had time to work on/test any of the new features. I am working on some new ones now, that I believe you all will enjoy. :)

Everything works, it's just a matter of adding more features, which I am constantly doing. Once the product is where I want to be, (which won't be for awhile, I feel like I am never fully finished with this product) the pricing of the pro won't remain the same, just a heads up.

Airplane mode does not allow you to have access to the internet. I am confused by this question.

@TheInsaneManiac

Thanks for the heads up buddy,i will consider to buy the pro version today.

If you turn the mode on and then off you will have internet access, only with a new IP. So you block someone, they switch the mode on/off, and then they log back into your site. I read about a book on ebay that teaches hackers how to avoid proxy mods like this one. It specifically goes over topics like "IP Address Q&A ? Proxies, AOL, VPN, Broadband ? IP Tracking". I won't post a link here to it, but I can send you a PM with the link if you need to learn more. From what I understand, using airplane mode is usually one of the tricks to get around a hack like this. I was hoping that this hack was smarter than the author of that book :)

BTW, I went pro today  Great work!

I tried this and my ip remains the same. Is this only for certain carriers?

Thanks for the feedback, all is appreciated. :)

Usually it's the case that when you disconnect your mobile device and reconnect, you may get a new IP. It's not really so much a feature of turning on and off airplane mode as it is turning off and on your smartphone, but airplane mode works the same I guess. I would assume the longer you have it on airplane mode, the more likely you will get a new IP once it is turned on.

In any case, I have a new feature request, if possible: blocking entire country IP ranges, and a white-list for that, since I intend to ban various MENA countries from accessing my forum, and white-list the MENA-members I already have on my forum. I can do this via htaccess but it's a pain in the ass, it would be easier to just do it via a plugin.

To be honest I just heard about it yesterday. I haven't tested it on my phone yet but other people I talked to say it works. What upsets me is that phone manufactures should be smart enough to make airplane mode work ONLY when you're actually in a airplane. Wouldn't be hard for them to do. Then this wouldn't be a real option for hackers.

I'll try to do some more research for you and post back later :)

I wouldn't say they are hackers, merely script kiddies. I mean if they are just having their phone do all the work then that's not really hacking, but regardless, would become annoying.

I agree. Phones's doing all the work - good point.

I just tested with my HTS One and it displayed the same IP. Turned Airplane Mode on/off - same IP. Turned phone on/off - same IP. These other people who have told me about this swear that it works, so I'll have to find out what carrier and/or browser they are using because right now I can't duplicate it.

Set3sh 09-13-2013 08:01 AM

It's not working for blocking webproxies.
I also tried with template edits off and {vb:raw toralert} added to navbar template.
Here is the site I used for testing http://www.proxyonline.ro
My website is https://www.gamemaniacs.ro
I am using the v4 pro version.

As you see it works on your live site

Yes it is but it seems it's not blocking all the proxies.
Check my example.

lock255 09-13-2013 05:39 PM

I tested with proxy go very famous, site demo (http://www.consolediscussions.com/) but I can not see any populist tone. I would be interested in buying the PRO version.

What proxy is not being detected?

Hmmmm... experiencing lots of problems here. Hoping for some help.

Bought the Pro version as I'm really only interested in restricting proxy registrations. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work. Tried all manner of combination of the settings, but it doesn't seem to be able to restrict registrations without restricting overall viewing access to site.

Added to that, should you be interested only in alerting rather than restricting, the red notification is very flaky... sometimes it shows, sometimes it doesn't when viewing via a webproxy. Seems to show initially, but then arbitrarily decides to disappear. Not sure if that's a feature of the proxy services I was testing with. The alert message also appears to have problems with long strings when defining a custom message.

Tried reinstalling which worked initially, but then experienced the same issues.

"Redirect to blank" seems to work on the forum pages, but not article/CMS pages. Straightforward "redirects" didn't seem to work and custom error was not shown. Usually results in Not Found error: "The requested URL /forum/proxy.php was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Ack... not quite there yet. Shame, because it's exactly what most sites need in order to operate an effective (and meaningful) discipline system.

Have the pro version and it is blocking google saying it is using a proxy can you add something in so it does not block google some kind of box that we can add what bots we want to allow or whatever you think will fix this problem.

Yea I am still working on the CMS support, I can't seem to find a hook that works. As far as the popup, the web proxy may be removing scripts.

I think the big issue for me was that it didn't prevent registration... which is really what I bought it for. The number of idiots we have using proxies as a means of creating troll accounts meant that this feature is sorely needed.

Perhaps I've set it up wrong?

Everything has to be enabled for Registration to be blocked, this will be fixed in the next release. I have gotten really busy with a project from work. I'll see if I can't finalize this tonight.
