Question.
My WP and my vB are on the same server, HOWEVER, they are under different usernames. vBulletin: /home/user1/public_html Wordpress: /home/user2/public_html Is there a way to make this work? |

I've just put a new version of the plugin up. It fixes some of the bugs that have been reported. If you've been on the fence, this is the time to grab this plugin.

(Also did the downloads reset so I can download the new version?) |
I have purchased the full version which works good so far.
However posts in Greek characters are not ported into Wordpress correctly. Any ideas? (have sent you an email as well, just posting in case it wont reach you ;) ) |
Hey obscureclouddon .. really nice work , Cheers! :D I am planning to purchase it soon.
I have a couple of pre-sales questions for ya ;) : 1. Will the normal commenting system of wordpress work after installing the plugin ? -or- can it be enabled again if your plugin disables it? I want guests to post comments using their email and name in addition to VB users being able to post comments in WP using their forum(VB) account. 2. I don't want users to create account or manage their profiles on WP - since this might be a serious threat to us. We need Profile creation and management via VB only. Is is possible? 3. On WP we don't want any link containing "/wp-admin/" or "/wp-login.php" since direct access to them have been disabled permanently on our servers for security. 4. We have VBSEO installed on our forums ... will your plugin work in this case ? 5. In regards to Vbulletin->WP : Does this plugin automatically create new WP accounts for all existing forum accounts ? |
Have just started... this could save my forum... and give it that dynamic flair... however ( you knew I would say however...
I bought the full version... and when I post... Fatal error: Call to undefined method osc_wpvb_PostSync::postSync() in /home/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/bajrpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-vb.php on line 137 help :) |

1.) The plugin does not change anything about the core of Wordpress. It uses the built in hooks to ADD functionality. The comment system will still work as it has. What the plugin does is takes those comments and if there is a vB thread synced to the WP post being commented on, it will also post the comment on vB. I literally just finished working with another customer to get it to work as you described. Now, if a guest (not logged into WP or vB) posts a comment on WP, it will sync that to vB as well using the name put into the WP comment form. 2.) You do not have to utilize the registration sync feature. It as been designed to be flexible enough to work without synced user accounts. So you can continue to only have user account created and managed in the way your site already works. 3.) The plugin does not add any administrative links. You will have to access the WP dashboard to configure the plugin settings from an admin account, but there is nothing for users there. 4.) I do not know of any conflicts with VBSEO. If any arise, I'll be happy to fix them as that is a pretty popular plugin. 5.) If you choose to sync the users, yes. You do not have to. |
Nope I just can't work out how to synch... going mad...
is there a stp by step guide to the requirements in wordpress and vbulletin ? |

- Thanks! .. Awesome .. I am buying this soon! :D |
Already bought it... and see this as the next step for my forum... trouble is... well... I can't for the life of me get it to work...
forum on Vbulletin called Projects Forum ID link on Wordpress called Projects nothing. :( plus... how do you create multiple categories <-> links. The one thing needed is a simple user guide. ie it says... "Fixed issue with posting to sub forums." but not how to actually do this in teh first place. - or perhaps I am dumb ( has been said!) current problem is when I [test] commectction... I get [object XMLDocument] in an alert box please help... |

Thanks obscure. but I have yet to get any pms from you.
i tried your support forum form as well with my email. i take it you did not get that/ please email me... info (at) bajr.org with details.. |
I found the issue with the characters, it was the database colation which I fixed now and it works.
However porting the users into wordpress from vbulletin does not work. I have around 70.000 users in vbulletin but the import stops at around 7000 users with a blank page. I assume this is due a database timeout? any hint how to correctly convert all users? edit_ after hitting the button several times I am up to 21.000 users now, let's see how that goes. |
Just an update. where I have to say brilliant support from the man. Awsome help... easy to sort.
If you have any doubts about this integration - don't.! it is brilliant. |
I do have some interest in this add-on but visiting the developer's site to look at the full version is less than impressive...
See Problems with this plug-in and-or this site. |

As additional Question: Does syncing work with scheduled wordpress posts, too? |

I have zero issues with speed on his site but also VB4 is more or less a resource pig to begin with so less then ideal hosting will always show. I run his pro version and am quite impressed with what it does and hope the development continues. His Header Navigation menu has NOTHING to do with this plugin. This is coded most likely into the header template of his VB site. |
Quick Guide.
First unpack the folder into plugins, where all the files and sub folders should reside in [wb-vb] folder. now in Wordpress Plugins, activate the plugin and then go to Settings --> WP Vb integration Essentials are as follows: (everything else you can play with!) 1) Path to vBulletin. / means the Vbulletin Forum is in your root folder. ie www.mysite.com/ /forum/ means the Vbulletin Forum is in a folder called forum. ie www.mysite.com/forum/ ALWAYS add the trailing / 2) Activate login sync feature [check box] 3) Activate post sync feature [check box] 4) Forum ID - this is the NUMBER of your desired linked forum ( sub forums are added from this) so look at your vbulletin URL http://mysite.com/forumdisplay.php?6-The-Forum the ID would be 6 5) vBulletin user id to assign posts to - this is numerical as well. so ID number of who you want to add these too. 6) vBulletin -> Wordpress Settings Add vBulletin plugins ... click add 7) go back up and click [TEST] - if all is well you should see... vB loaded Plugins - 1|1|1|1|1|1|1 8) SAVE CHANGES... Good to go! |

I'm not really going to spend much time optimizing the site. I prefer to spend my time helping customers get their systems up and going (as you can see from comments from people I've helped in this thread) and adding features to the plugin. I have a full time job and have not made even close to what I've put into this. If the site sucks, so be it. If you question my support or whether the plugin will work, just ask anyone who has purchased it. I'd be happy to spend my time helping you get your site to where you want it over worrying about nav bar links on my site that's only purpose is to process payments and downloads. Thanks to everyone who has said nice things about the plugin and my efforts to support it! |

As for the user sync, it is a pretty heavy process. I tested on a site with 15k users and it took about 20 minutes. However, i did set it up so that you can re run it like you did. The way it works is first going through all WP users and seeing if there is a match in vb. For each match, it syncs them. Then it goes through all of the vb users that were not synced and looks for a a match in WP and syncs the ones that it finds. Then it goes through all of the WP users that were not matched and created a vb user for them and syncs it. Then it goes through all of the vb users that didn't have a match and does the same (creates a wp user, and syncs it) If the script times out, it will pick up where it left off next time you run it as it ignores users that are already synced. But it will take longer with each pass. If you have a lot of vb users, the query that gets unsynced users does take a long time. I plan on optimizing this as soon as I get some of the more critical issues worked out. |

As for scheduled posts, currently they do not sync. That is going to be the next thing i address along with syncing changes from vb thread/comment edits. |
@obscureclouddon :
Whenever I try to login or logout from forums all I see is a blank page. Its not getting redirected as it normally does .. during Login and Logout on forums. Please help. |
This reminds me... the chaacter issues - which must be something to do with utf-8 any ideas?
|
what are the requirement to run this plugin?
does vbb need to be on the same cpanel account as wp? |
vb and wordpress running on same server ( as far as I know)
the cpanel is not used... this is a wordpress plugin that links to vbulletin. so all the admin is done from wordpress works well - even in beta form |

i don't know what the minimum version of WP would be, but it does work with the most recent version of WP. both scripts do need to be running on the same server. |

Hi does the full version integrate current wordpress members to vbulletin? Is there a script that runs queries to do so? I understand new users will sync to vbulletin but what about current WP Members?

Hello obscureclouddon
First of all, thank you for all of your effort, just bought the full version! The sync from Wordpress to vbulletin works flawless, but usersync from vbulletin to wordpress is not working for me. I have activated the vbulletin plugins via WP, all plugins are displayed green and usersync VB-WP is activated. Did i miss something? Another Question, is it possible to sync each wordpress category to another forum ID? Thanks! Dennis |

As for the cat->forum, it should work that way now with a bit coordination. Right now, you define a parent forum id for WP posts to go into. The plugin will automatically look for sub forum names (o the parent you supplied) that match the WP category name of the post and put them there. |
