Just a little note that for feature requests if possible it's best to post them in the support forums at DBTech - we have a custom system there to track them to make sure they don't get lost/overlooked. Posts on vB.org tend to get lost in the shuffle/forgotten >.<

This update is pure gold!
My forums are much faster now! Also the option to update the settings if your site loads slow in admincp to your liking is a huge plus

sweetpotato 02-25-2012 08:41 AM

Is it possible to exclude some certain forums to show posts on Live Feed?
Thanks,

No worries.. gotta break out of the vb.org junkie posting habit. .lol

SpikeSaunders 02-25-2012 07:25 PM

Looks quite great.
Is it possible to Follow a particular user?

We were hoping to use it like a 'soundoff' table where the latest show or release is announced by a user part of a particular usergroup with access to post. Then any other member can 'follow' that user to ensure they get notified of each show/released. :)

ProFifaLeagues 02-25-2012 10:38 PM

Any way to turn off the Wall on the Profile and Just use the One In the Forum blocks?
Would be a great way for our setup to run this mod for our needs...

The Pro version does let you view a "user wall" but it does not let you follow a user in that manner. This is due to the fact that LW simply reads off the other tables (say, for instance the posts table for Posts) and doesn't create entries of its own. That makes it extremely challenging to do notifications, but extremely easier to add new content types and does not depend on hooks being available.

There is no profile wall, you can disable the navbar tab via the settings :)

What do the links in the code "http://ajax.googleapis.com...." do in the script? They preload on pages and slows it down some. Is that a file that could be pulled from the server directory instead? Thanks. Great work on the mod as always. Think I will upgrade because the feature to reply from the live wall is a convenient.

DragonByte Tech 02-28-2012 10:22 AM

It fetches jQuery, the JavaScript library I use :)

Having it remote hosted is faster than locally hosted, because you can only fetch 1 locally hosted element at a time, whereas you can fetch locally hosted + remotely hosted items at the same time :)

What's the chances of this on 3.8?

Uninstall.

Forum sidebar preview is f-ucked as content preview is not resized and images jump out of the forum borders.

It's disappointing you choose not to let us know in the form of a feature request / bug report, but oh well. Can't please everybody I guess :)

meaters 03-02-2012 04:10 PM

I highly appreciated you work and love your mods.

As I said threads with pics wrapped in [img] tags are not resized in forum side block and if it is a large photo it breaks the forum.

DJ-Dez 03-02-2012 06:09 PM

Love the plugin Ian, could you try get this on 3.8? How long could it take? Looks great, shame I can't use it fully though.

Schoelle 03-02-2012 06:10 PM

Same problem as with DavidsMods live feed addon.
If you have enabled quick reply and submit a reply containing special characters like the german umlauts they are totally messed up. Only after refreshing the page they are shown as they should.

DragonByte Tech 03-02-2012 10:23 PM

I am unable to replicate this issue. All special characters are working fine for me :)

It may be an issue with your database or your forum's language, I really don't know.

Forum Live Feed & User Wall v1.2.1 (Beta):
Feature: Now available in a new flavour: vBulletin 3.8.x!
Feature: Parsing of [img] tags can now be turned off on the main feed as well as the sidebar
Fix: (vB4) Introduced a new CSS class in dbtech_livewall.css that should ensure videos / images are properly constrained within the sidebar

What kind of server load does the pro version have?

So what could be the reasen? Forum is running on german language.
It is only your mod and DavidsMod which is similar to yours causing this. After refreshing the page everythings fine. Also no problem with the advanced editor, only the quick reply has this problem.

That's impossible to tell as it varies based on server configuration and server specs, sorry.

If you are having similar problems with the Quick Reply then this further strengthens my reasoning that it is in fact not a problem with our mods. Your site is set up in a way that you are unable to use AJAX without it "breaking" special characters in that way.

Unfortunately I have zero experience with this because I have never had to deal with it - all characters work out of the box with a default install of vBulletin so I really don't know where the issue lies :(

Schoelle 03-03-2012 01:02 PM

Sorry Fillip, my mistake! I had still DavidsMods vbLive active.
Your mod is working as it should!

sweetpotato 03-03-2012 02:15 PM

Cannot Exclude Recycle Bin and Ads forum. Only promode spams. Uninstalled.
Thanks,

Ohh, no problem :) Glad you figured it out (and glad it wasn't this mod!).

We had some encoding issues with another one of our mods the other day D:

Thanks for your update, Fillip :)

R4rifi 03-03-2012 04:19 PM

Thanx for Update, I have installed, images are resized within the side bar, but still if there is any text like URL, it goes beyond the side bar!

Thank you, images are now beautifully resized in the forum sidebar!

Awesome mod, marked as installed and voted for mod of the month.

Another nice one. I've got so much DBtech stuff I breath fire. Thanks again Phillip !!! I'm going to start upgrading to pro with some of our products soon. I have no issues with any of your stuff, and it's nice to work with so many mods from one source so they don't clash.

DragonByte Tech 03-05-2012 11:24 PM

Forum Live Feed & User Wall v1.2.2:
Feature: Status updates can now be deleted
Feature: Added profile tab for user walls (does not automatically update, but contains links to the full "live" user wall). This tab can be turned off via a setting in vBulletin Options.
Fix: Will no longer interfere with vBAdvanced.

For the same reason as edited posts etc don't update, deleted status updates won't vanish from other peoples' walls until they reload the page / it vanishes off their feed naturally.
This is to preserve resources and cannot be changed at this time.

DragonByte Tech 03-05-2012 11:26 PM

PS: To whoever who was asking for censor to be implemented: This already worked, it is built into the BBCode parsing :)

GhettoTech 03-06-2012 01:28 PM

Is there any plan on allowing users to post "What's on your mind" from the profile pages? I realize this page isn't "live" and updates on refresh as well. Are there any plans to make this update live as well?

DragonByte Tech 03-06-2012 01:58 PM

To my knowledge it's not possible for me to detect what tab you are currently viewing on the profile page, and it would be a waste of resources to have live updates if the user is not even viewing the updates.

Plus, I personally feel that it's sort of a waste to have TWO pages doing "show updates from user x" - especially considering the link to the person whose profile you are viewing is plastered all over the User Wall tab :)

That being said, the ability to submit a new status from your profile in a sideblock is a good idea and we'll look into it for a future version :)

Awesome!
A Status update Profile tab which would save all Status updates would be cool too. :)

Status Updates are valuable only if they are saved for the users.

It would be great to see a Status Updates profile tab with this
Forum Live Feed and User Wall mod :D

meaters 03-06-2012 06:04 PM

Youtube videos now display in the forum sidebar.

burlesque 03-07-2012 02:06 AM

Hi - I installed this on my test forum and everything was working fine, including the sidebar widget on the forumhome.

However, when I installed Everywhere Sidebar, the sidebar widget no longer appears.

Would you know why this is happening? I've not had any problems using Everywhere Sidebar before?!

DragonByte Tech 03-07-2012 10:49 AM

Apparently that mod is incapable of displaying custom sidebar blocks, it only works with built-in vBulletin ones. When I have the time, I'll install it on my test environment and see if I can make it work :)
