THanks for your feedback so far, guys! Hope you're enjoying this mod. I feel happy I decided to share it right on my son's birthday night :)

kylek 12-20-2011 11:50 PM

Works great, fresh install on 4.1.9. Thanks for this! Marked installed and rated.

One suggestion if possible - to have the avatar linked to the members profile page so when you click on the avatar you would be taken to their profile page.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've added it to the feature requests list.

I will be more than happy if anyone can confirm that it works on402 version, thanks beforehands!

I confirm that you can test it out safely, simply install and check it right away. I don't see why it wouldn't work on vB 4.0.2. If the avatars don't show up, let me know and I'll check it out for a possible compatibility issue to fix, eventually.

Winter Sonata 12-21-2011 12:00 PM

phpdesk, I can confirm it does work either :))))

Thanks a million!!!!

Marking it as Installed and rating this thread is a good way to show your appreciation, thanks for confirming that it works!

Daryn 12-21-2011 09:07 PM

Would it be possible to modify this slightly to put the avatar image to the left of the thread title and remove the thread icon? Sort of like how IPB does?

I think there already exists a mod for that, by digitalpoint if I'm not mistaken.

Winter Sonata 12-22-2011 05:23 AM

Marked as installed and 5 stars :)

Interestingly, I have anticipated this request and integrated it as an admin option, it will be available in a future release.

I want to use it but is there any chance to change this ?

Thanks
Nominated - 5 stars - installed

The functionality you requested will be available with the next mod version. I've already implemented it, just need to wrap some more stuff before releasing it.

Thanks for your interest and support.

This looks wonderful, will try it shortly.

Looking forward to 106 release.

Maccrob 01-03-2012 02:33 PM

Good job... but, I'm sorry, but it's a bad variant of "avatar in threads" realization. Reason: fetch_avatar_url will add additional queries (~ 10-15). So if your forum isn't popular, with 20-30ppl at once - OK, but when you get 400-500 users at once - you will be in trouble with high DB server load.
You can try "Inner join" to get avatars

Davey-UK 01-03-2012 04:33 PM

Nice mod, and works fine on 4.1.9.
Thankyou

Point taken, thanks! I'm currently working on it, will see how soon I can come up with a solution to save on db queries, I've managed to make some progress in this area already.

The newest (1.0.0) version of this mod addresses the extra database queries and removes all for better behaviour on large forums. You can test it out and see if all is fine now, marking it as installed would be great, too.

You can now choose between two positions of the avatar in forumbits, as per your request.

Luca_ITA 01-04-2012 12:50 PM

Thanks for the update, but that didn't work :/
Now the path to my images is wrong. Instead of http://www.mysite.net/forum/customav...avatar43_2.gif, the path is http://www.mysite.net/forum/customavatars/avatar43_.gif.
Any way, tnx for the mod! +1

try the following instead and use relative path

Code:

./customavatars/avatar43_.gif

Luca_ITA 01-04-2012 01:06 PM

Sorry, the filename is wrong...
For example, instead of avatar43_2.gif, is avatar43_.gif

Just change the path to match the filename
so it would look like

Code:

./customavatars/avatar43_2.gif

rinkrat 01-04-2012 01:16 PM

Got the email this morning that there was an update, added it and now it broke all the pics. Just red X's now.

Reed_HCT 01-04-2012 01:36 PM

This mod would be perfect if working also in the "new posts" page.

phpdesk 01-04-2012 02:02 PM

Those having issues with the mod please be more specific to help me reproduce the problem on my end, I'll do my best to troubleshoot and get back with a fix whenever required. This new release is a rework to exclude the extra queries to the database, so bugs can happen, please keep in mind it's still a beta stage mod.

Thanks for your support!

sadiq6210 01-04-2012 02:08 PM

Thanks dear .. Great work
Installed but the avatars is not appeared

for example:

the original link for an avatar is:
Code:

http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8707_8.gif
but in this mod the link become wrong like this:
Code:

http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8707_.gif
Just the last (8) is missing
so nothing appeared

Thanks again

Daryn 01-04-2012 08:54 PM

I'm having the same issues as most here. The filename is being truncated somehow. I can say that I have the forum home integrated with a vbadvanced page, so maybe that may have something to do with. Oddly the older versions worked fine, so I dunno.

Oh, and you might want to edit the original post:

Settings

No settings at this point. I'm sure some of you will ask how to enable this feature on certain forums only, and I'm going to work on that as soon as I get some time to spend on this mod to enhance it further. Please be patient in the meantime, my current schedule is overloaded.

It does indeed have settings now. :)

phpdesk 01-04-2012 09:14 PM

Hi all,

I have fixed the avatar display issue brought to you with the 1.1.0 release. As a matter of fact, I haven't tested on forums that were set to save avatars as files, and I've fixed the problem now. Do let me know if anything else comes up, I'll be more than happy to troubleshoot and get back to you with further fixes until this becomes a stable mod.

Thanks, Daryn, I have removed the outdated lines from the mod description, you're right :)

ProFifaLeagues 01-04-2012 10:08 PM

Just to let you guys know this seems to Work fine on 4.1.3 as well

Thank you Alex

thecore762 01-04-2012 11:04 PM

Any plans to release an option for vBadvanced?

I'd like this to look much cooler www.47r-squad.com

Fready 01-05-2012 01:49 AM

Found a bug/problem.

On the Forums Home, say you have Sub-Forums, if a poster posts on a Thread in the Sub-Forum it doesn't show their av on the Forums Home, it will show the av of the last poster within the main Forum not the Sub Forum even though the last post showing on the Forums Home is from the Sub Forum.

Hope you understand what I mean.
Check it out and test it with a Forum which has a Sub Forum to it.

Daryn 01-05-2012 04:02 AM

Installed the new 1.1.1 update and all seems to be working well. Did a little tweaking of the CSS to fit my style better, but other than that it's working great.

Now the avatar appears if the link is like this:
Code:

http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8707_8.gif

But if there is two digits after (_), for example:

Code:

http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8701_59.gif
The link will be like this:
Code:

http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8701_5.gif
There is no avatar because the last (9) is missing and will not include in the link!

Thanks dear

It is apart from what I wrote about the SubForum problem.
Do you have SubForums?
If so post in one and you will see that on the Forum home page your av isn't showing as the last poster.

I'm also having this problem. It only started after installing the updated version of the mod.
