THanks for your feedback so far, guys! Hope you're enjoying this mod. I feel happy I decided to share it right on my son's birthday night :)
|
Works great, fresh install on 4.1.9. Thanks for this! Marked installed and rated.
One suggestion if possible - to have the avatar linked to the members profile page so when you click on the avatar you would be taken to their profile page. |

Would it be possible to modify this slightly to put the avatar image to the left of the thread title and remove the thread icon? Sort of like how IPB does?

May this Christmas be bright and cheerful,
And may the New Year begin on a prosperous note! Merry Christmas! |
This looks wonderful, will try it shortly.
Looking forward to 106 release. |
Good job... but, I'm sorry, but it's a bad variant of "avatar in threads" realization. Reason: fetch_avatar_url will add additional queries (~ 10-15). So if your forum isn't popular, with 20-30ppl at once - OK, but when you get 400-500 users at once - you will be in trouble with high DB server load.
You can try "Inner join" to get avatars |
Nice mod, and works fine on 4.1.9.
Thankyou |

Thanks for the update, but that didn't work :/
Now the path to my images is wrong. Instead of http://www.mysite.net/forum/customav...avatar43_2.gif, the path is http://www.mysite.net/forum/customavatars/avatar43_.gif. Any way, tnx for the mod! +1 |
Quote:
Code:
./customavatars/avatar43_.gif |
Sorry, the filename is wrong...
For example, instead of avatar43_2.gif, is avatar43_.gif |

so it would look like Code:
./customavatars/avatar43_2.gif |
Got the email this morning that there was an update, added it and now it broke all the pics. Just red X's now.
|
This mod would be perfect if working also in the "new posts" page.
|
Those having issues with the mod please be more specific to help me reproduce the problem on my end, I'll do my best to troubleshoot and get back with a fix whenever required. This new release is a rework to exclude the extra queries to the database, so bugs can happen, please keep in mind it's still a beta stage mod.
Thanks for your support! |
Thanks dear .. Great work
Installed but the avatars is not appeared for example: the original link for an avatar is: Code:
http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8707_8.gif Code:
http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8707_.gif so nothing appeared Thanks again |
I'm having the same issues as most here. The filename is being truncated somehow. I can say that I have the forum home integrated with a vbadvanced page, so maybe that may have something to do with. Oddly the older versions worked fine, so I dunno.
Oh, and you might want to edit the original post: Settings No settings at this point. I'm sure some of you will ask how to enable this feature on certain forums only, and I'm going to work on that as soon as I get some time to spend on this mod to enhance it further. Please be patient in the meantime, my current schedule is overloaded. It does indeed have settings now. :) |
Hi all,
I have fixed the avatar display issue brought to you with the 1.1.0 release. As a matter of fact, I haven't tested on forums that were set to save avatars as files, and I've fixed the problem now. Do let me know if anything else comes up, I'll be more than happy to troubleshoot and get back to you with further fixes until this becomes a stable mod. Thanks, Daryn, I have removed the outdated lines from the mod description, you're right :) |
Just to let you guys know this seems to Work fine on 4.1.3 as well
Thank you Alex |

Found a bug/problem.
On the Forums Home, say you have Sub-Forums, if a poster posts on a Thread in the Sub-Forum it doesn't show their av on the Forums Home, it will show the av of the last poster within the main Forum not the Sub Forum even though the last post showing on the Forums Home is from the Sub Forum. Hope you understand what I mean. Check it out and test it with a Forum which has a Sub Forum to it. |
Installed the new 1.1.1 update and all seems to be working well. Did a little tweaking of the CSS to fit my style better, but other than that it's working great.

Now the avatar appears if the link is like this: Code:
http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8707_8.gif But if there is two digits after (_), for example: Code:
http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8701_59.gif Code:
http://www.domain.com/forum/avatar/customavatars/avatar8701_5.gif Thanks dear |

Do you have SubForums? If so post in one and you will see that on the Forum home page your av isn't showing as the last poster. |
