Too many conflicts till now for this mod, it seems it will end up removed or replaced by BoWoB Chat

Judging from IWC his previous thread, it seems to me that IdealChat is still in beta phase and should be marked as such. It will take some time before the startup issues are worked out. And testers help resolving this. After that we should see a solid release.

Out of the 70+ installs that have happened using the lite version alone, only a few people have reported any issues, and 2 of them we're simple bugs that have already been fixed for the next version.

Most of the rest of the reported issues are conflicts with VSa products (VSa Chatbox, VSa Paypal Donate, VSa Topstats), so we will have to look into what in particular is causing their products to break ours.

Take those out of the equation and there are only 3 people, that I see, that actually have an issue with the product right now, and we are investigating them so we can apply fixes if we find there actually is a problem in the code.

I know that we have installed it numerous times on several different versions of vB without it having any issues. We even installed it on vB 3.8, and the only issue we had was the change in how the templates are accessed.

i like the mod as most do but the conflicts with other ajax scripts is making it unworkable but if theres a work around then id be the first to onboard..........

New conflict issue with DragonByte Tech: vBNotifications, clicking on a notification from vBNotifications does nothing when chat mod is enabled.

I've installed this, enabled in the settings, and configured usergroups, and no chat on any of my pages. I'm running VB v4.1.5

I tried installing it as well and came up empty-handed.

ok, VSA paypal donate, VSA chatbox, AND MicroClassified are confirmed killers of this mod(some stated earlier of VSA stuff). I found that VbOptimize4 also kills this. I have a 3rd test forum and this works perfect wtih those off. Have a few questions, 1st is how do I rid a chat? It saves them even if I clear my browswer and shut down window?
2nd, you have about 25 entries in Stylvars which one for Text color and which for background during a chat? I changed a few but they don't show I ASSUME because it's the same window due to it not deleting the current chat.

As ive mentioned earlier this isnt unique to this mod ............... BoWoB Chat has some of the same conflicts when i ran on a test bed same issues

Thank you all for reporting this products with conflicts, we will be looking into them all and seeing what all we can do so later versions won't have them!

Could both of you give us a link to your site, as well as a log in to see the issue?

1. Currently, when you close your browser and reopen it, it shows the last 24 hours of messages. It was the method we choose to go with for the moment until we have the the system in place to mark messages as read, after which it will only show unread ones. (Sorry if it bothers you)

2. I think the stylevars you are looking for are icbb_chat_bg & icbb_chat_color, if not, please let us know.

ok added Bowob chat (same interface) and that works fantastic so hopefully this can be resolved without conflict :)

Did you test it in FF5? cause it seems to be working with other browsers, plus there is no avatars in this version (default avatar for all users)

That last update helped, but it's still not working as it should. Instead of not showing up at all, now it just hangs on a loading bar, and the Settings and Chat Room buttons are unresponsive.

Also, it doesn't show up at all on CMS pages. Just the forums.

Its buggy and still not working as the bowob does but ill deff try this new update

I don't see icbb_chat_color... I think you mean icbb_new_message_color? I don't know because it won't change an existing chat and no way to end it, so new window color shows. Is that correct?

Yes, it was tested in FF5, and it worked fine. As for the avartars, we have received a couple reports of those not working in the new version, so we will look into that.

We are trying to iron out any and all of these minor bugs when they come up; however, of all the bugs reported, only a couple of people have even been willing to give us their url so we can see the issue, and only one of the people who did give us a url actually had anything that might be considered a bug.

It's very hard to fix bugs when people just say it doesn't work, and then never respond again so you can figure out how it doesn't work and how to replicate it, or see it not working in action.

So people, please, if your going to report it not working, give details of how it doesn't work, maybe even a screenshot, or best yet, a url to see it on the actual board it's not working on.

Sorry, I think those style vars we're actually added in the new version. If you grab the new version, you should see them. If you don't want to upgrade currently, you can always change them in the css itself.

This is great but I can't get it to work. Everything appears as it should but nothing comes up if you click on settings, friends show 3 but if I click on it I just get the loading bar which never ends..

I have disabled plugins and nothing. Any ideas?

1 thing though:

When the user signs in, it opens up all of chat sessions from the previous visit? It's a bit annoying to have 5/6 boxes popup along the bottom everytime you log in.

As we have said before, that is only temporary until we get message read tracking in place.

Thank you for posting this link. The reason your bottom bar isn't work is that for some reason the wrong document type is being returned.

Now that we know what the problem is, we will be looking into a cause for it, as well as a fix for it!

How do you see everyone who is online though not just your friends? Or does it have to just be friends?

Also, can the size of the message boxes be changed? For example in the demo the chat room is way too small.

Are there admin controls to ban users from chat rooms, etc.?

I have a chatroom open and minimize it then browse the forum. Why does it pop up on every page load instead of staying minimized?

Right now I'm not sure it will support RTL fully, but we can look into that for a later version.

It only shows mutual friends.

The size can not be changed currently (Unless you want to edit the css manually), but have plans to add in a pop-out chat feature.

There is a setting for who all is banned from using the chat, and in the future we will have a much more advanced ban system in place.

Yes, we have noticed that. It is a bug that only exists in the version, and should be fixed in the next version, sorry.

Right now you can disable the bar and it will show you as offline, but we have some plans in the works to allow similar functionality while the bar is still open. (Not sure it will make the next version though.)

I just installed this and its not working. Clicking "Friends Online" just displays a never ending progress bar. Clicking chat room or settings is totally unresponsive.

Also, once working Id like for this to show all online not just friends since I have friends disabled on my board, is this possible?

hmmm, OK I updated and it now pulls Profile pic instead of Avatar, no one uses profile pic, I need avatar back. Then I think we are good. Nice job. Thanks, Mike

The avatars should be fixed in the new version that should be released either today or tomorrow.
