I believe I noticed this also when checking to make sure all images were working. I was refreshing the registration page making sure all images came up and noticed occasionally you would get just the filename reference and not the image.

I don't know offhand how I would skip it for Facebook Connect. Honestly I'm not sure I'd want to, I do hear of spammers using Facebook too... Can't promise I'll be making any changes for this.

Actually you can't register at all via mobile because it looks for an answer that isn't present- this issue I will look into.

I can't see how it would show the filename and not the image other than the browser doesn't load the image for whatever reason and the browser shows the filename in place of the "missing" image. I've been using this for a long time and never seen it happen on my forum- please provide a screenshot if you can when you see it happen again.

I've seen this issue happen if you're trying to use the same pic name for several different questions. If you are then rename pic according to your question.

It's never meant to work with anything but the registration.

It was not designed to work with that mod.

In my forums users can't connect using Facebook. When they try, the "Wrong answer" message appears directly. There's no option to write the AntiSPAM answer.
Any help with that?

I have this mod enabled on my forum and was just able to "Connect" with Facebook a fresh/brand new account without issue so I am sorry but cannot reproduce the issue.

Did you upload the files by FTP as instructed? You need to do that in addition to the XML import.

Are you on the most current VB version (VB 4.2.1) and do you have all the latest versions of any 3rd party plugins, like VBSEO?

I have seen exploits in sites running old versions where spammers bypass registration completely.

When using steam connect. It says to do the image verification but theres no 'image verification' thing but when I go to make my account its like you didn't do it. Even though theres no place TO do it.

Is there away to take that out of steam connect or to add it in there?

I'm not familiar with that plugin but if you want to try-

Go to Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager

Edit the Plugin titled:

Check if NoSpam! (img) question has been answered correctly (Register)

In the PHP code- put this code at the VERY TOP

and put this code at the very bottom:

That will basically tell the plugin to only run on the built in register.php page.

Hopefully steam connect uses its own php page so this may work.

Works fine on 4.2.2 for me as well. If it's not working it's not because of 4.2.2.

I can not explain it but I re-imported the product and everything is working on 4.2.2 :)

I'm not expecting to add any more features to this, but it's re-usable code so of someone else wants to try their hand, they are free to do so and release it themselves.

It is NOT working on the "Mobile Style" version :(

Just wanted to mention I turned this mod off yesterday on my VB 3.8 forum figuring it probably wasn't doing anything anymore... Sure enough within 10 minutes I had 8 spam registrations. I immediately turned it back on. Wow.

Probably others but just tested with the above without issue.

Yes I still think this is the best mod for stop spamming. You need good questions, and a recaptcha, simple as that then no spam.
