Hi,
just a dirty trick :D

I installed the Mod twice.
I take the .xml search for "bop" an change it to "bob".
And chage the execution order to "3"
It looks OK but whatever you do you do it on your own risk.

On version I use for internal Links: Visible to all, follow, same window.
One Version I use for Ad Links: Guest only, no-follow, new window.

Its important not to have one Word in both versions but thats in your own hand.

Just to expand on what CThieseen is saying, he installed two copies of the mod, 1 for internal links one for external links. (So he can specify new window or not for each)

To do this install the 1st copy as normal.

Now open the XML product file.

With your text editor do a "search and replace"

Replace all instances of "bop" with "bob" (or whatever you want really)

Save the XML file (with a different name)

And Import the new XML file. It will be a second copy of the same mod.

This *should* work if you really need to treat internal and external links differently but I have NOT tested this and can't support people who install it this way.

does it work for 4.1.4

It should, it doesn't depend on the editor.

New in 1.3: Added optional notice on posts with links and associated phrase.

You can choose to display a custom notice in posts, PMs, visitor messages, and social group posts to alert users that keywords have automatically been turned into links.

To edit this notice use the Phrase Manager and edit the GLOBAL phrase: bop5_wordlinks_note.
HTML code is allowed in phrases. {1} will be replaced with the number of keywords linked in a post. Its use in the phrase is optional.

Kolbi 06-14-2011 07:04 PM

@Christian

you can use vBSEO ;) This adds to all external links nofollow attribut. But internal links will be follow.

BirdOPrey5 06-15-2011 08:21 PM

Big update today... Two new features.

1) For those of you with a lot of keywords and links it's hard to keep track of which keyword goes to which link in the two separate boxes you can now put all your keywords and links together in one .csv (comma separate value) data file and upload it and the mod will pull its info from the data file instead of the two boxes.

In addition you can use advanced features if using the datafile such as setting the "target" and "rel" attributes for each link individually if you choose. If you don't specify a target or a rel value the mod will use whatever setting you have chosen in the mod settings.

A sample datafile is included and an example is here:
Code:

Amazon,http://www.amazon.com,,
eBay,http://www.ebay.com,,nofollow
Best Buy,http://www.bestbuy.com,_self,
JUOT,http://www.juot.net,_blank,nofollow
vBulletin,http://www.vbulletin.org,_blank,
Google,http://www.google.com,,
Apple,http://www.apple.com,,friend
Microsoft,http://www.microsoft.com,_self,alternate

You can make a csv file in a text editor or use a spreadsheet like Microsoft Excel and "Save As" a common CSV file.

The second new feature is integration with an optional Custom User Profile Field. If you make a custom profile field to enable users to turn automatic word linking on or off you can tell this mod which field number you created and the mod will disable itself for anyone who turns it off. (By default it's on.) Full instructions on how to make a custom user profile field is included in the mod instructions.

A separate How-To make a compatible csv datafile is also included in the mod .zip fie.

Kolbi 06-16-2011 05:30 AM

Nice work ;)

Will try it out later on...

Alan_SP 06-16-2011 12:21 PM

Thanks, this with CSV file really makes it much easier to work with your mod.

CThiessen 06-16-2011 12:22 PM

How,
many Thanks, great Idea to let the User the choose if he like to see the Links or not.
This point i cant?t test (lost my User CP during the Update to 4.1.4 :))

But already test with the external File, working pretty god.

Thanks
Christian

BirdOPrey5 06-16-2011 12:36 PM

For those wondering about performance when using the data file- in my test with almost 100 keywords and 200 links in a post the page generation on VB 4.0.8 was at most 2/100th of a second more when using the data file as opposed to the internal settings.

Wow this is far superior to modifications like skimlinks and viglinks!

I thank you for the kind words but I want to stress this is NOT a real alternative to skimlinks or viglinks... However it will work well if you have either of those installed.

The good thing about viglinks/skimlinks is you don't have to sign up for 12000+ affiliate accounts with 12000 different merchants.

Also if a user gives a link to a specific amazon item say, this mod will ignore it- where as the others will still turn it into an affiliate link.

Plus the skimlinks javascript and viglink will also turn any links created by this mod into affiliate links.

I would strongly suggest running skim or viglinks in addition to this mod.

Damn. Okay. I'll turn skimlinks back on.

Hi, I am wondering if this might conflict with enabled acronym expansions of vBSEO? Is it possible to run both or is it better to disable the vBSEO feature?

And may I ask one question that might sound stupid to you? What exactly is the SEO benefit and advantage of Word Links? Sorry for being a little unexperienced on this field ;-). And thanks a lot!

I don't have VBSEO so I can't test it. I would try it and see what happens. Unless you used the same keyword as an acronym I don't think there would be a problem.

Honestly I don't know what the SEO benefit is that's why I didn't mention any SEO benefit in the main post. I made this so people could include affiliate links to bring in some money when people buy stuff by following these links mostly. SEO benefit, if any, is secondary.

Thanks for update BirdOPrey5,

here are the German language file for version VB4v15

BirdOPrey5 07-01-2011 10:18 AM

Thank you all for voting this June 2011 Mod of the Month!!

Igel1 - Thank you for the language update, will update the install file ASAP.

Igel1 07-01-2011 09:13 PM

I have a small error BirdOPrey5

If the MOD is aktiv, by quotes in the Forum News (there are artikel and comments from CMS) the Name Link "quote by test" appears as a "quote by test %C2%AE-Navigation&p=72510#comment_72510" rel="nofollow">

This is only in forum area were the artikel and comments from cms are.

Nofollow are in MOD option of NOT

EDIT
in "%C2%AE-Navigation&p=72510#comment_72510" rel="nofollow" is one keyword, i think that's the problem

ok if I disable the keyword then the quotes are displayed correctly, is there a way to link the conversion of quotations to prevent?

BirdOPrey5 07-02-2011 03:40 AM

I need a link to the exact page where the error would happen. PM me a link if you don't want to post it. Also tell me what was the exact keyword.

Thanks.

BirdOPrey5 07-02-2011 07:28 PM

Updated to version 1.6- Fixes a very unusual bug when a keyword is part of a URL of an internal vBulletin link created by quoting a post when "friendly" URLs are enabled.

Igel1 07-02-2011 08:59 PM

Thanks for fix, working perfect.

Taurus1 07-11-2011 10:01 AM

Looks awesome! Thank you. Just one question before I install. What if I use infolinks already? (I read about skimlinks and viglinks, but are they the same as infolinks?)

BirdOPrey5 07-11-2011 12:24 PM

I don't have have an infolinks account- I looked at it and I don't know if it will conflict or not. Can you give me a link to a page where infolinks is active, I might be able to tell.

Otherwise just try it and see what happens. Disabling the mod will immediately remove any changes so it's no big deal.

Taurus1 07-11-2011 12:34 PM

I already installed it. So far it looks and works great. I am just using it for inhouse links, so it is great. Thanks again!!

BirdOPrey5 07-11-2011 05:09 PM

Great to hear.

Taurus1 07-11-2011 05:35 PM

I was too happy too soon...lol

Now my infolinks just completely stopped working. I disabled this for now, but my infolinks did not come back yet. I hope this is just a delay.

Do you use a caching system? (not the vbulletin cache but some 3rd party cache?) That's the only time changes aren't immediate.

Could infolinks be having problems of their own?

Taurus1 07-12-2011 12:35 AM

I am only using a cache for guests. So it should not be that. And now after several hours my infolinks are still gone. I visited their site, but it seems everything is OK. I opened a support ticket with them, to just check anyways, but did not hear back from them yet.
So at this stage I am really worried.

Taurus1 07-12-2011 02:20 AM

OK, I managed to get Infolinks back now. I used this mod https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...ight=infolinks
to integrate Infolinks. I disabled that, and inserted the Infolinks codes manually now. Now Infolinks works again. I don't know if there is some conflict between this mod and yours, even after disabling yours?
Now I am a bit scared to enable yours again...lol

denman75 07-12-2011 07:10 AM

i have it installed and its great ,want to thank you for this great mod
thank you !

Well I wold never suggest you turn on a mod you weren't comfortable with but I just looked at the infolinks mod you linked to. There is no possible way this mod caused any problems that wouldn't have been solved by turning off word links. Word Links doesn't make any changes to posts or the database. It simply runs after each post is already built and adds links to words it finds. The only problem I could see is if you maybe used "INFOLINKS" as a keyword- I would suggest not doing that- but even if you did it should have been fixed by turning Word Links off if it's not cached.

I know. It is really a mystery to me. I understand what you say. Anyways, I will turn word links on again, and run it without that other mod on, and check. Thanks for getting back to me!

cavyspirit 07-16-2011 03:06 PM

I'm trying to figure out how to turn some specific posted links into other links. For example, I have a forum where someone mentions www.abc.com in a post. I may have a paid listing page for that vendor on a sister site, say www.mysite.com/abc. It sounds like I can't do that with your add-on. Just want to confirm.

You are correct this mod would not work for that.

You could try the "replacement variable manager" in your style manager- that will override any text with any other text, so you could change all instances of:

www.amazon.com

to

www.ebay.com

very easily. However it will run into problems if you have a link like:

www.amazon.com/product1/

which will change it to

www.ebay.com/product1/

which may not be a valid link.

It's either going to be a lot of time entering every possible link with a custom replacement or a high risk of broken links.

Add the following codes to additional.css ...
but no changes to link ...
what is the wrong with the codes?

Yo didn't post any code... ?

Did you enable the option in the mod to use custom CSS?

What version of vBulletin? Link?

thnx!
