The Branding Free version can be found on our site :)

Nice one installed :)

Thank you for this useful mod!

Can you please tell us exactly what template/style/file dictates where the Bookmark button is placed? I'd like to move it before our thread titles via the postbit legacy template, but do not know what I need to modify to have this done.

Thank you!

Thank you for the response!

I could not get it working, though.

I replaced this:
Code:

$template_hook['showthread_above_posts'] .= $templater->render();
With this:
HTML Code:

$template_hook['postbit_userinfo_left'] .= $templater->render();
And the bookmark button disappears! I tried many other hooks and none worked - only the original one.

If anyone has any ideas on how I can get this displayed directly to the left of a thread's title, I would greatly appreciate this!

Feature: It is now possible to bookmark your own posts
Change: Changed the Branding display method to inject itself into the copyright footer (underneath vBulletin copyright) instead of the page footer.
Change: Changed the Branding Free Key to a more secure key.

vBulletin 4.2.1

I've installed the MOD, and there were no errors indicated. In my UserCP (Settings) I see:

Settings DBTech - Bookmarks
Post Bookmarks
Thread Bookmarks

And these can be clicked on, showing of course, no bookmarked posts or threads.

The problem is the postbit items within Threads or Posts don't exist as you show in the image:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...7&d=1297486931

What's wrong?

@Dragonbyte Tech -

As usual, your MODs are quality work. What would it take to add the ability to mark searched for posts/threads for bookmarking from within the Moderation Tools? What I'm thinking about, is I search for Threads started by a specific user. I select the ones I want to bookmark (check the boxes) and then execute the bookmarking as an offered option in Moderation Tools. Doable? In this free MOD or in a paid for Pro-version?

Thanks dbtech it works great in 4.2.1. You have really cool ideas and best mods

Kat-2 08-04-2013 03:38 AM

This mod doesn't even do what it is supposed to be doing. There aren't even any buttons.
But it certainly put a tag at the bottom of my forum. I hate that. Doesn't work, yet tags me. What is that?
Plus you put the mod here, and now are trying to force me to go to your site for support??

Your comment is unwarranted, and unfair. Did you read the posts? Did you read mine?

It says what you have to do.

DragonByte Tech creates quality MODS, and this is one of them.

Right. To get support you have to register on their forum. It's essentially poaching - they should support their mods right here if they are marked "supported." Otherwise to buy their mods guess what - you also have to register on their forum. For me, no thanks. DBT are unethical toads.

I am sorry, but I disagree. I did EXACTLY as it instructed. I actually did it twice. The second time I overwrote it.

Yes, I read all the posts, first, including yours.

I think I was very fair...and honest.

The option is turned OFF by default. You just have to edit your usergroups and turn this on for each one you want to have it. It isn't rocket science, and no, you don't have to go and register on DBT's site for support. Geez.

It says so in their first post of every one of their Mods they release!

Priority support for Lite version is handled at the Developers Website.
So that if you have a problem and ask here, they tell you to go and sign onto their forum and post your support request there. They answer general questions here but if you find a real bug they make you go to their board. I went round and round with them over one of their mods a couple of years ago.

Actually I did go into the usergroups, and never even found it. Gosh, I didn't mean to cause a ruckus. Everyone isn't going to love every mod. Plus I don't like my forum tagged.
That was the only thing that worked correctly, immediately.

No, you weren't. I did exactly the same; installed and removed twice. I thought I had done something wrong. It was when I read the information about this MOD carefully, that I noticed:

Quote:

Feature List

Review / Go to / Delete bookmarks from UserCP
Per-usergroup permissions for bookmarking threads <<< See this?
Per-usergroup permissions for bookmarking posts <<< See this?
AJAX bookmarking in threads
Per-usergroup permission....

That means the setting to control this MOD is on a per-usergroup basis. And as I added to my post, you just have to edit each usergroup you want to have this MOD active for, and set the options to Yes.

This MOD works as it was designed.

I just said in the post above that I DID go in the usergroups. I went in Admin usergroup, and Users usergroups, and Super Moderator usergroups, and I looked and looked and looked, and it was not there.
Where is it in there exactly??

You don't mind your forum being tagged in the footer?? I do. I have many many MODS, and none tag me in the footer.

You do if you want the tag removed.

Snowhog 08-04-2013 04:38 AM

Usergroup Manager > Edit Usergroup

Towards the bottom is a section called:

DragonByte Tech: Thread / Post Bookmarking - General Permissions

And no, I don't mind their tag at the bottom of the Home page. If I wanted to, I could remove it, but I won't.

DemOnstar 08-04-2013 08:22 AM

I am not keen on the tagging either and that is why I don't use any DBT mods. Although I do see many good mods made by DBT, I will not use them because of the tag. Silly really I know, but that is the way it is.

If you post this as a feature request @ our forum we'll be able to take it into consideration for future versions :)

In light of the conversation in this thread, I should clarify that we only ask people to go to our site to post feature requests because we have a bespoke "vBSupport" system that logs all our bugs, feature requests and "how do I?" questions so they are easily browsable at a later date.

This means we can easily compile a list of requested features whenever we plan to work on the modifications.

Not so for vBulletin.org, where we have no tools available (we would need the ability to flag individual posts as feature requests) and we certainly don't expect them to be made available as it would take a lot of time to create for little benefit to the majority of developers that have very few mods to update :)

Have you posted in this thread previously? I looked through your post history, and I was unable to find a post from you in this thread prior to the post I'm quoting right now.

I'm sorry that the modification did not work for you and that you can't agree with our terms regarding branding.

Could you please clarify for me why exactly you didn't post a request for help in this thread before concluding we don't offer vBulletin.org support?

If it was because you disagree with our terms regarding link-backs and don't wish to pay for Branding Free then that's your prerogative, but I still wish you hadn't deliberately spread misinformation :(

Everyone who has actually posted for help in one of our threads before knows that you're spreading misinformation.

Considering the fact that you rush to "like" any post that speaks negatively about DBTech, I propose we both stop wasting each other's time with a continuation of this "discussion".

I personally will not respond to your troll bait again, and I urge anyone else to also ignore any such troll bait.

This thread is not a feedback thread for DragonByte Technologies' policies or business ethics. As such, any further posts from you in this thread that is not directly related to Thread / Post Bookmarking will be reported.

What, except for me? Why then would there be any posts to thank?

You forgot we went around and around about a legitimate BUG I found in one of your Mods, and you refused to address it unless I signed onto YOUR board and reported the bug there. You forgot that I refused to do so, and fixed the bug myself.

I'm "spreading" FACT. You don't have to like it. You only answer general questions in your vB dot org threads, for legitimate bugs or omissions you refer to your own site for service. You state as much in the first post of every one of your mod threads. It's kind of a little backdoor poaching scam and I'm surprised vB dot org allows it.

I'm not sure what chip you've got on your shoulder, but this is pretty much standard operating procedure for any of the bigger companies that produce vbulletin addons. DBTech does respond in threads here about issues happening on vBulletin.org.

I don't see how asking someone to register at another site is a poaching scam, what do you think they're going to do with the email and username you give them?

Look at any other big addon guys: vBSEO (mostly dead now..), vBadvanced, etc. They all follow the same operation.

The DBTech guys follow the specific rules that are in place at vBulletin.org, just as all the other big boys do. Why would they want to risk their business (vBulletin itself) just to "poach" users?

This is a release and support thread for Thread / Post Bookmarking v1, not a discussion.
Unless you are requesting support on this mod than please refrain from posting in this thread, any more off topic discussion is likely to be removed.

nice mod! Works great on 4.2.0. Only problem is that post bookmarks can't be enabled by itself, you need to have both threads and posts enabled in order for the post bookmarks to do anything.

and is there a way to rename the bookmarks once you set them? Looks like the option isnt there for that

Firyou 06-23-2014 01:05 AM

Some posts show up as already being bookmarked and when you unbookmark it and try to bookmark it again it doesn't show up. Any idea why this happens? It's been happening on random posts lately

Edit: it looks like a post cannot be bookmarked by more than one person. If it does theres an x on the post. Any idea on that?
