That error is directly related to your add-on DownloadsII. If you have defined an add-on for that in the 'Addon Generator Modules' sitemap setting, then please delete it and try to generate your sitemaps again.

This is normal. There is no xml file shipped with this version to fill this in. You can simply ignore it.

No, leave that as is or you will open your server to potential rouge scripts running.
You should NOT access the files directly.
Make sure you read the directions, specifically around the htaccess rule you need to add.
Then, you can access your sitemap by .com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz

That's the URL of your sitemap

Code:

http://www.sitename.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz
Change sitename.com/ with your forum URL

So you should add this URL to your google webmaster account :
Code:

sitemap_index.xml.gz
Also you can found your sitemap URL in vbseo sitemap generator reports panel "www.sitename.com/vbseo_sitemap/"
At the top right of the page.

I have been testing this and observed that this error also happens when ? or ' are used in a thread title on vb4 forums that are not using vbseo to rewrite their thread titles. My forums using vbseo have not had this problem because vbseo has already removed those characters from thread titles.

I like the mod but it's a little cumbersome to have to edit common punctuation from thread titles to get it to work if that is the way it will be released to non vbseo users.

Please make sure the htaccess file is in place and that your server supports mod_rewrite. If you're not using apache, you will need to install the other webserver rule that matches your webserver platform.

this table does not exist in vb4. Please make sure you've imported the product file with overwrite.

If that does not work, you can disable user albums from running in your task.

If you have any other rules in there, make sure the sitemap rule comes FIRST, directly after rewrite engine on.

I had to disable the albums, is this a bug with the plugin? Why is it looking for a table that doesn't exist?

you can do this in vboptions. but it's the htaccess ruleset that will matter, not if its on or off.

Ok so i typed up my vBSEO Sitemap settings to notepad to here, it took very long but i just want a working sitemap for my other forum the default vBulletin sitemap did not work so I'm hoping this works, please note my forum was backed up from a different account with a different domain, but still on the same servers. Also i have another forum,
HTML Code:

www.solohost.org/forum
and that vBulletin default sitemap worked on Google. So I'm assuming its something to do with the forum both forums are running on the same server. I told the vBulletin community forums but they can't help at all, and I heard they fixed it with the release of vBulletin 4.0.8 but no Jasper from vBulletin also admitted there is a bug there. If does not work I will have to go tell vBulletin on how to fix the vBulletin sitemap issue.

Here's my vBSEO settings

Hello,

You should submit your sitemap only in the first time, Then vBSEO sitemap will notify search engines automatically after finishing the daily sitemap generating :)

Hmm... Done, but still nothing, submitted it to Google, show's
Code:

We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

Also i think i should let you know that i cannot access www.myforum.com/vbseo_sitemap/data

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Leica.Robbiani 11-15-2010 08:19 PM

Hi there,

I also have problems with this. vBSEO isn't installed, so I disabled the first option.

The directory where the files should be stored has permissions 0777. But nothing is saved, but the generator has the meaning »Sitemap created«.

What do I do wrong?

Best regards

L.R.

cdement 11-16-2010 01:57 AM

I am also having the same issue as Jigsaw. I have the directory chmod at 777, the .htaccess file has the rule at the top of the file, my host supports apache mod_rewrite, I have the option vbseo installed set to no, and I have generated the sitemap and when I go to the links it provides for the sitemaps it says 404 Not Found, submitted them to google and get the same from google. What is missing in this equation? Do I not have something right?

m!dn!ght 11-16-2010 11:21 AM

hi
first, thanks for best sitemap generator plugin

second
i put my config.php above public_html
forum working fine but VBSEO sitemap generator got this error
Code:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at [path]/includes/config.php:5) in [path]/vbseo_sitemap/index.php on line 43
and when i want generate sitemap i got this error
Code:

Cannot run sitemap generator directly: you should be logged in to do this.

m!dn!ght 11-16-2010 01:03 PM

finally i find solution for this problem :D

if you moving your config.php away you need edit index.php in vbseo_sitemap folder
Open index.php and find :
Code:

include getcwd().'/includes/config.'.VBSEO_PHP_EXT;
replace with this
Code:

require '/YourNewPath/config.'.VBSEO_PHP_EXT;

When you say 'the links provided', which links are you seeing?

I see one link at the top-right, which leads to my sitemap_index file..

Hi, i upgrade from 2.6 to 3.0, now if i click on the Sitemap Index -> http://www.mysite.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml give me this error :
Code:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /forum/sitemap_index.xml on this server.

If i go to the previous link http://mysite.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz (submitted to google and bing and worked until the upgrade) give me this error :
Code:

Sitemap file not found
Vbulletin version : 4.0.3 Patch Level 1
Can someone help me? thank's so much !!

It would be these links:
Code:

http://www.MYSITE.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz
http://www.MYSITE.com/sitemap_forum_1.xml.gz
http://www.MYSITE.com/sitemap_archive_1.xml.gz
http://www.MYSITE.com/sitemap_group_1.xml.gz
http://www.MYSITE.com/sitemap_member_1.xml.gz
http://www.MYSITE.com/sitemap_tags_1.xml.gz

Now if I'm not mistaken don't these files have to exist in the forum root for the link to actually work?
