Love this mod, it should be part of VB by default. I was wondering if it would be possible to somehow intergrate this to the promotion system? After X ammount of referralls a user is upgraded to VIP for example.

If not no probs, still a great mod IMHO, I've been using it a while, but just had a promotion idea for my site and wondered if it was possible.

It is listed under CSS Templates in the templates area of the style manager.

Hi and thanks for getting back to me.

Is this additional.css that needs to be edited listed under the Main CSS in the style manger of the template you are using or want to use this mod with?

If so then at the top of this section it says:

"This CSS file is obsolete and is available here for reference purposes only."

So does this mean that any code placed in this section won't work or make a difference to anything?

You're in the wrong area. It is the same place you edit other templates like forumhome.

Ok thanks. I originally looked in that section but was looking for additional.css I didnt realise it was hidden in the"CSS Templates" section.

Still learning how to edit things on VB so I don't know where everything is.

For anyone else who has trouble finding the additional.css file. It can be found by doing this.

i'm running vb 4.1.1 and when i direct people to the address provided it does not put the referral name in the referral field when register is clicked.

is the proper link as it picks up the setting name of the file you are using for your home page. I just tested it again on my site and the name shows up properly. To test it again yourself, make sure you clear all your cookies and cache, and try it without logging in (as a guest would see) and it will show up like it is supposed to. You can not do multiple testings of it as it reads the cookie on your machine, even if you aren't logged in.

You are right thank you for the explanation. It works great as you have said. I do however have one problem. the referral count does not show up in post bits. Any ideas what I'm not doing?

It is not supposed to show up in the postbit. That would add an extra query to every post on the page. It shows up in the About me tab in the profile instead.

Excellent addition, but can you make it collapsible? For members who don't want to see it all the time...

It kid of defeats the purpose if they collapse it, don't you think? It reminds them to invite others to the site.

Certainly I know what you mean, but also, people may think this is a bit aggressive towards them. If they could collapse it, it'd be easier on them. Some would like to help forum and get more referrals, some wouldn't. Why not give them the choice?

At least I think the more choice they have, the better.

If they collapse it, it will be open again the next time they visit the page, so why bother? That is my point.

I think that information about state (collapsed or not) is stored in cookies, at least that was with vB3. You can collapse groups of forums, if you want it.

Anyway, I thought this would be nice addition to your mod.

Actually, it's very easy to install it. :)

Just find additional.css template in CSS templates and add it. The rest is importing product as any other. After that, just use it. :)

It was actually easier to do than I had originally thought. I just used my code from the Random Quotes that I forgot I already had done.

I personally think the collapse part of this is a waste of time for a mod like this as it being open reminds people to refer others to the site. But... apparently I am alone in that belief.

Well, I understand your point of view, but I think that if we provide more options to users, especially ones that enable them more comfort, they might do and help our forums and spread the word. By forcing them to use something they just get irritated. :)

Also, a lot of users don't even notice collapse button, i.e. they don't use it. Sadly, they don't use referral link too. :(

On the part that the code is much simpler to apply, you're right. I tried to achieve collapsing of infractions, some users asked for that, they don't want to be reminded of their past, especially bad past and I couldn't till I saw your code. Thank you once more. :)

Hello, I have VB 4.0.3 and I need to upgrade to 4.1.3.

I am running User CP Referral ID and Referrer in Profile 1.0.5. I would like to upgrade to 1.0.7. Will it work on VB 4.1.3?

Will I loose any settings/data during the upgrade? Will the referral data be still there?
