is this hack working OK?, I mean, what about if the post has attached files or the post was thanked?? The thanked (+1) goes to the need author?

I ask these questions because these issues are well known in this kind of mods.
Regards

is a great mod indeed but thee is a problem with the posts author. It shows new author but when you look at your forum posts it shows both authors posting under your username:(

FReeSTER 09-24-2010 08:51 PM

I guess there will be no fix after words :(

Tortikova 10-16-2010 05:39 AM

Its works for Blog Entries?

Hi,

This doesn't seem to work with CMS author, only in the forum. Anyone experiencing the same problem? Using VB 4.1.0 patchlevel 2.

I was able to get the functionality I needed by installing both this addon (to handle Articles) and this one by Phalynx for threads and other mass edits. The biggest bug seems to be that if an article has been published and you change the author, the comments forum thread still shows the original author. I fixed that by using Phalynx's addon to edit the comment thread author. His mod seems to handle post counts/etc a little better, but doesn't do Articles.

For those who don't like template edits, you should look into this mod by Andreas. It will store all template edits by product without actually editing the templates using a search/add or replace engine. Developed for vb3, it actually still functions admirably with vb4, the only exception being it cannot edit css templates (YET -- there's a single bug stopping the update, please vote on it to be fixed). One thing that makes it awesome is this is the only way to safely edit your Master templates, plus it allows you to export your template edits by product, so for this example, I've created a template edit import file you can use to perform all of the edits needed to make this mod work. I changed the final template edit, making it so it will show the "current" author's name in the entry box for articles, which currently shows as a blank input box. If necessary, you can create a different edit which retains the "current author" as static text, then adds an input box to change the author. I'm actually looking into utilizing the autocomplete code as seen in many other ajax-enabled areas, so you can start typing a username, and you would see a popup with username suggestions to choose from. If I get it working, I'll submit the template edits needs for it.

Mod Suggestion: maybe as a separate mod from this, would it make sense to have a mod that adds a Pen Name field for each user, and if a user who uses a Pen Name writes an article, the CMS system would display the Pen Name instead, and attribute the article to a generic user id for anonymity?

This doesn't seem to work in 4.1.3. Uninstalling. Reverting 3 templates.

Yellow Slider 05-03-2011 12:30 PM

Updated, please see first post.
The CMS option will be restored soon.

literatestylish 05-03-2011 02:50 PM

only problem is that if a user has a username over 10 characters, you can't use it. Why is that?

Any word on when CMS will be integrated? Our site relies on News Submissions from our users and I don't like not being able to change the articles to the submitter. Thank you!

Robbie P 05-11-2011 12:58 PM

An excellent release, very handy!

dr.tawy 05-11-2011 01:42 PM

Installed on VB 4.1.3 , Working Fine

Excellent job

Nominated

hacksden 05-24-2011 12:55 PM

Installed on VB 4.1.3

It appears that when a post is modified the time stamp on the post is changed to the curruent time and date. Is this by design?

Merriweather 05-25-2011 01:01 AM

I can't tell from the description, screen shots or posts if this mod can do what I would like, so here is my question:

Can a user change the post owner to ANY user, or only specified users? For instance, if I say Usergroup A can change the post owner, can I limit them to ONLY be able to change the post owner to ONE username (i.e. "Anonymous")?

Also, does this mod record who the true author was somewhere for admin purposes?

reddyink 05-26-2011 12:13 AM

Excellent MOD!.
I just need this change only when editing the POST as I don't want two more entries appear when posting a new thread.
How do I do that?
Thanks

Fixed.
Also fixed the last post issue.

hamedbia2 05-28-2011 04:15 PM

Hello,
does any change in the date of the thread has the advantage tends to move the thread to the top of older threads?

Installed and uninstalled!

It changes the time of posts....I thought sth happened to the forum and when I disabled this mod posts date and time returned to normal..

It screwed up my 4.1.3 forum

Uninstalled!

Doesn't sound like something this mod would cause, as it has absolutely no affect on posts that were posted before the mod was installed.

Mikevet1984 06-03-2011 12:23 PM

Reinstalled for testing reasons,....

Mines is the same too, had to go in manually to change the date and time on most of my posts *uninstalled* otherwise a good modification if working. I could go to edit my post as admin i normally use advanced posting for better looking posts etc, then if someone was to post my post would appear 2nd, i thought it was down to the forums time structure so i set it to normal, same thing has been happening, i have to edit a post and set an earlier time than the previous post.

Im using 4.1.3 also, anyone else having this trouble? better yet is there a solution?

Mikevet1984 06-04-2011 09:16 AM

The problem is that when admins and moderators (who are able to use the hack) make a new thread the date provided by the mod is not the real one.

It is many hours before and posts seem to have been created from the future....haha The mod does not use the local time of the forum. If you have not noticed that soon, this can screw up the appearance of a forum and confuse the users.

hohleweg 06-04-2011 09:16 AM

Hi
Admin can use it its ok,
but i dont see the option in usergroups, for Moderator ?

Greetings Jo

Mikevet1984 06-04-2011 09:21 AM

It is in the forum options...not the userpgroup options....

hohleweg 06-04-2011 03:16 PM

Hi
Arggh :-) i found it, thanks.
Jo

Mikevet1984 06-05-2011 10:08 AM

Problem still exists....Users who are able to use the mod, when creating a new thread seem ti have posted the trhead tomorrow date. Their threads come from the future.... and this screws up the whole forum view.

Please coder provide an update if possible....

Mikevet1984 06-07-2011 04:07 PM

Yellow Slider, any possibility to provide an update for this mod, its buggy and I cannot use it in my 4.1.3 forum....although I love it so much!

discodoran 06-08-2011 03:18 PM

<a href="https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=245183&highlight=change+owner" target="_blank">https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showt...t=change+owner</a> , just in case there is no update to this modification, i recently switched to this modification, it puts the change author on the modification tool and works with 4.1.3, i have had no problems with it thus far.

Mikevet1984 06-08-2011 03:34 PM

Thank you! I do not think the coder even takes a single look to this thread. There is no reply to the complains so many days now.... Stay away from this mod until it is fixed!

FReeSTER 06-11-2011 06:50 PM

screw up my board was perfect but......... Now I make a post on any post and it makes it look like it was posted 4 hrs before the last post and not even configuring or touching this part of the modification

vantastic 06-21-2011 11:38 PM

Yes this mod is a good idea but the dates it inputs seem to appear in the future. Ideally this mod wouldn't have post dates changeable, only author.

FReeSTER 06-22-2011 09:42 PM

Im wondering if Yellow Slider is ok. I havent seen him online for long time and hoping that someone fix or update this mod
