That's exactly what I'd like to do (exclude myself).

UPDATE: Users can now add multiple users to their accounts. The new users cannot create or delete existing users, but have full access. We have more fine grained access controls in later versions planned. You can access this by logging into insights and going to My Account -> Manage Users

thanks ,

I have a question. I just installed this and I noticed reading the above that one of the future features are:

"Sub forum analytics: A number of admins have asked for analytics on specific sub-forums."

All my activity for my website occurs in Sub-forums as I use the Forums to divide categories. So basically the site goes Forum->Subforum->Content.

No threads are actually created in forums, only the sub-forums. Does that mean I won't receive any data?

Thank you in advance.

Jabong82 - Good question. The answer is NO. You will receive all the data. What people are requesting is that they be able to see stats on individual subforums. For example, right now you can easily see new content creation (new threads, new replies) and activity (thread views) happening anywhere in your forum. What you cannot see today (but which we're working on right now) is the ability to choose a particular sub-forum and just see the data for that sub-forum.

bigcurt 03-19-2010 12:43 AM

I don't think I need this mod for anything; but it LOOKS beautiful and looks like you did a great job.

ssslippy 03-20-2010 12:25 AM

So u copy all post information and resell it? So for those who have any private forums that data is sold. Their policy allows then to data mine your forum and sell everything u post may it be public or private.

So what stops u from selling my content?

I have one question though.

I have other moderators on my site that I would prefer to only be able to view information regarding the forum they moderate. Would this be a possibility in the future? Thank you.

We don't resell anything. :) From our terms:

The Plugin has been updated to version 1.5.0 and is now more stable with some performance enhancements. It is a highly suggested upgrade to increase accuracy and increase speed.

malas2007 03-26-2010 01:07 AM

right now everything is okay, thank you.

Excellent Stats!

I am glad to see sub-forums are ready to go.

One request though for the sub-forum stats.

I notice that the filter for dates is kinda unusual.

For example you have "yesterday", "2 days ago", and then the months/year.

Is there anyway to get "today", "past week", and even a custom date filter?

Thanks in advance.

TeknoSounds 04-15-2010 02:58 AM

Just logged in after awhile of not... and noticed that around 04/07 that all my pageviews and users per day and a couple other stats have been at 0.

V8Owner 04-16-2010 06:08 AM

I have the same problem as well. :(

Mine has been live with gravity for 4 days & it tells me only 2 members and the rest is blank.

gravityinsights 04-20-2010 12:08 AM

hi all, we've released version 1.5.2 of the plugin that should address any lingering issues with pageview tracking. Please download the latest version from here or insights.gravity.com and let us know if you see anymore issues

thanks again
Jim

rsuplido 04-20-2010 01:01 PM

Right now adding a 'Normal' user does nothing. The user will not have access to any of the stats except for 'Users', which I think is a bug.

Anyway, please add support for granting users rights to see the stats for a particular site (if you have multiple sites configured).

Thanks.

gravityinsights 04-20-2010 03:25 PM

FYI we added "User Behaviors" this past week under the "USERS" tab. This will give you information on the percentage of registered users who are creating unique content for your site. A good indicator of a growing community is to see more unique registered users creating content rather than the same people over and over again. Let us know what other metrics you'd like to see in the upcoming versions. :)

hi Peter, everything starting to look ok on the stats now?

pete_brady 04-21-2010 06:44 PM

Latest version certainly seems to have fixed issues i was having a couple of versions back...

TeknoSounds 04-22-2010 04:07 AM

Everything is working very well now thank you .

It really does give you some great insights into your own forum.

Looking forward to getting a month of data.

Any chance in the dasboard you can add a "yesterday" column next to the today realtime results. Just to show what happened yesterday.

It is a little confusing being in another time zone in Australia.

Thanks for all your help, very happy :)

definitely a great suggestion, we'll roll that into our product plan

thanks for the feedback.

TeknoSounds 04-29-2010 03:41 AM

Greetings, I noticed an issue with links to threads.

I currently have my forums in another folder besides the site root, however links in insights show from the site root.
i.e. normal link:
http://teknosounds.com/messageboard/...1-DnB-in-Texas

Link from insights (real-time stream, tho all other links will end up doing the same, giving a 404 not found error)
http://teknosounds.com/showthread.php?t=20521

Also for a suggestion based on V8Owner's post, have a user-based setting for timezone offset.

gravityinsights 04-29-2010 04:34 PM

hi TecknoSounds,
we allow the option to configure a "thread mask" in the My Account -> Manage Sites section of insights. I have set this for you just now, but if you were to add another site you can read the help file on thread masks to see how to set this up in the future. Let me know if you have any other issues :)
thanks,
Jim

rsuplido 04-29-2010 05:00 PM

Any update on granting 'Normal Users' access to the stats?

Ahh! Thanks sir! Much appreciated :D

TeknoSounds 04-29-2010 05:39 PM

Oh hey, just for sh*ts and giggles, should like compile everyone who's hooked up to you stats as like a global stats from Gravity. Ya know how like gmail lists how much space they're providing everyone?
So not like detailed stats as far as usernames and threadnames n such, but like total pageviews, users online, etc.

Anyway, just a thought for fun :) I think it'd be interesting to see

Jabong82 04-29-2010 09:37 PM

Does Gravity do custom work for hire? Like say if we wanted to display some stats in a different way to better suit our forum?

puertoblack2003 05-02-2010 03:10 PM

I like this concept but i noticed that it pulls info from sections that is private and not viewable to the public...

TeknoSounds 05-06-2010 04:41 AM

Today I noticed there was a user on the Recent Users that is not in my member list.

Why would it be picking that up?

user is lhx123456

Skyrider 05-23-2010 08:33 PM

Just installed, getting the error:

Quote:

require_once(DIR . '/insights/insights.php'); set_error_handler('insights_errhandle'); $obj = new InsightsVbulletin($vbulletin); $gravity_output = $obj->getFooterCode($GLOBALS['foruminfo'], $GLOBALS['threadinfo']); $GRV_find = ''; $GRV_add_before = "$gravity_output". PHP_EOL; $output = str_replace($GRV_find,$GRV_add_before.$GRV_find, $output); restore_error_handler();
at the top of the forums.

Check insightsconfig.php:

Quote:

<?php
/** array of forum id's that you do not wish to transmit to insights
; they could be your private forums or your admin only forums that you don't wish to track
place one id for each element in the array
EXAMPLE:
$hidden_forums = array(23, 45, 498);
would not send data for categories 23, 45 and 498
*/
$insights_config['hidden_forums'] = array();

Great idea! We've thought about this in the past, but haven't gotten around to it quite yet. Maybe we'll do it next time we rev the site design.

Hi gravityinsights

thank you for providing such services but when I tried to install it the forum page come with the attached warning page.

what is the problem?

(I'm new to manage forums :) ) (the var is 4.0.2) (Arabic forum)

your replay is highly appreciated.

thank you

MRGTB 06-05-2010 09:13 PM

I've just visited a forum were this hack is really slowing things down. I can see in my browser at the bottom stuff loading last and slow from: input.insights.gravity.com

I think others should know this service can slow your whole loading times down.

TeknoSounds 06-06-2010 08:05 AM

Right...there was a time when the gravity website was down and it was taking forever for my site to load on a refresh.

gravityinsights 06-15-2010 08:03 PM

Hey all - Please PM me if you are experiencing any latency with your site. This is very important to us and I want to get to the bottom of any issues.

Thanks!

Trek 06-30-2010 05:54 PM

Apparently the site is down as when anyone was making a reply to any thread, it would time out and throw DB errors as well as a script error in insite.php (if I remember the file correctly off the top of my head).

Disabling this mod, solved the problem. So basically it appears that when the logging server can't be contacted, it takes down you website... not good. Anyway, as I said, disabled it, all is working fine now.

That happens when a user registers and is in between registering and and activating with the activation email. Go to user ACP> User groups and you should see him /her listed as users awaiting email confirmation.

thanks for the report Trek, we have been moving data centers to upgrade our potential capacity, and we experienced a network routing issue with several of our web boxes. This issue should be resolved on the gravity side and we're going to be rolling out a new plugin with better timeout support to detect and disable itself if this were to happen again.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

thanks,
Jim

This mod invalidates the XHTML doctype when checked at W3C. It's a shame because vB4 actually validates without this mod. The opening <script> tag does not contain the mandatory "type" attribute. It should be written as:

Code:

<script type="text/javascript">
Please action this because it's an easy thing to do and it will endear you to the Standardistas out there. ;)

Those of you who would like to correct this problem now, do the following:

1. Open insights.php in a text editor
2. On line 119, find: $output="<script>
3. Replace with: $output="<script type=\"text/javascript\">
4. Save the file and upload to /forum/insights/, overwriting the previous version.
