Is there anyway we can make this so this only works in certain forums?

Installed.. configured setting.[s] Doesnt seems to work.
Any idea?[/s] Never Mind |
I doubt others care, but is there a way to make it so that the next post id for the auto increment doesn't increase when a double post is made? For example, if the post id is currently at 10, and I just made a double post, the next post id will be 13 whereas I would prefer the next post id to be 11. So would it be possible so the post id only increases when a "real" post is made instead of it increasing when the post is added onto a previous post?
|
I have no idea what you mean.

With this module, when you make a double post, it also increases your auto increment value. So if I make a double post, the post id will be 4, but the post after that would be 6 instead of 5. The table might look like this: postid | post 1 | first post 2 | second post 3 | third post 4 | fourth post + another post (double post) 6 | fifth post 7... and so on Without increasing the auto increment value each time a post is added to a previous post: 1 | first post 2 | second post 3 | third post 4 | fourth post + another post (double post) 5 | fifth post 6... and so on If you manage to do something like a triple, or quad post, it could look even worse: 1 | first post 2 | second post 3 | third post 4 | fourth post + another post + post + post 8 | fifth post 9... and so on It's really something minor, and I doubt anyone else would care but I think it keeps the table looking more neat. I'm probably extra picky. :p |
Those values are completely irrelevant, they are just internal to vb.
It will always jump one as thats inherrent in the way it works. |

I'm a little obsessive about things such as that. :p But no problem, thanks for the explanation. |
It is irrelevant - vb does not care if they are consecutive or completely random (as long as they are not the same). My forum is running on ids in the 34 million range, due to a crash years ago causing them to jump.

installed on 4.0.2. working perfectly.

Hi,
in reply with an Attachment, the Post are not merged. Vb 4.0.3 A reply without an attach are merged. I think, that a post with a Attachment posted 5 minutes later that the reply without a Attach. are merged. Maybe an Idea for a Update. Make a Option, that Admins can select, what is doing if a post have an Attachment. Btw. in the VB 3 Version of this Addon, the Post with the Attachment are merged :) |
No version released by me has ever merged posts with attachments :)
|
any plans to make it work for blog comments?
|
Hi,

My Mod?s say the same. that all Thread in Vb3.8 are merged, with or without Attachment ;) But Ok. |

Right, I'm still a little confused about how this works.
I'll give an example. USER A posts - This is an example of a double post He then hits back and posts the same thing again. What actually appears in the merged post? ________________________________________________ A) USER A posts - This is an example of a double post ________________________________________________ OR ________________________________________________ B) USER A posts - This is an example of a double post USER A posts - This is an example of a double post ________________________________________________ Does that make sense? |
Nope, you lost me completely.

I am not lost (I think).

Funnily enough though the response I got aside from the trouble shooting steps was that theyve noticed a number of people getting the same problem recently so I wonder if it's caused by the 4.0.3 update? |
Double post is not the same as duplicate post, which is what you seem to be referring to.
|
Great mod.
Thanks alot :) |
I have just recently noticed that when using this mod the joined post is posted twice. Please look at the screen below:
First post was: "Tessssst", and then I posted a second one: "testt77" but for some reason this mod is adding another "testt77" to the original post so I end up with double posting of the second post after merging and it happens every time and to everyone. I tried reinstalling this mod but it doesn't help. I am running vB4.0.3 Any ideas? |
I would guess you have another mod inteferring, it works fine on my 4.0.3 forum.
|
Yeah it worked fine for me as well before. I have recently installed vBSeo Sitemap generator 2.6 beta 2 and that was it. Where should I look to try to solve this problem?
|
Im afraid I have no idea. I dont really see how sitemap could intefere.
