Found another error, the "Who's chatting" username links do not goto the profile page, they goto an error page.
|
Flash chat seems to be ahead of the game with this
|
if you feel like messing with the horrible language barriers and vastly different (more expensive) price points of flash chat - go ahead. They charge an arm and a leg just to say hi, and their coding is a nightmare if you want to customize it at all.
|
Who's chatting is showing people in the chat room even though they are not there?
This problem just started recently. |
Unable to access addonchat.com to retrieve or update account settings.
Please ensure that the allow_url_fopen directive is set to On in your php.ini settings file. All other AddonChat settings successfully updated. any help for that mesage;;; |
Awesome man ............
|
I only need Webcam Support, then it's perfect...
|
If it was possible to fully test it with a 30 days professionnal demo, I would try it. Otherwise it's pointless.
|
I love this chat... it integrates very well.
And the price is very good! Think at, this is only something like 10$ in a month. For this money, you don't get a dedicated Server, only a vServer... and the most Hosters of vServer don't allow chats... so it's great, that the Addonchat is hosted by themself. |
Well, now that I'm trying it. I understand it's not a shoutbox in your mind. But it doesn't matter. What matters is how it integrates in a community. Users don't care if a product is supposed to be a shoutbox or a full blown chat: as long as it answers their need.
For my community, my users need is when they come into my forum, they need to see the forumhome/below the navbar. That's what makes them want to chat. Without that, I cannot use this module. |
Has addon chat gone into oblivion as my forum shows it as not found....I brought it last year?
|
OMG i wish i saw this post before i got that www.cometchat.com
lol |
Version 4.0.1 of the AddonChat Product for vBulletin 4.0.x is now online. The following updates have been made:
Instructions for setting up the vBulletin CMS widget (which displays the amount of users chatting and a pop-up link to your chat room) can be found in the included README.TXT file. Both the Mobile Edition and SSL modules are currently in Beta, but trials can be requested by e-mailing support@addonchat.com. They should be released by the end of June, with additional mobile devices to be supported soon. |
Looks great!
Does this, or can this, do some kind of FlashWindow function, where it would alert users of new messages if it's not the active window ...? Thanks!!! |
vilhiem: There is both an audible and popup alert option that can be enabled as a default within the control panel and/or directly by the end-user; however there is currently no mechanism in Java to enable direct control over the end user's window manager, such as flashing the task bar.
|
Thanks Chris!
But will the "pop-up alert" be displayed if the user's window is minimized (in other words, if he is in another application, like Excel) ...? |
Yes, it should on most all operating systems :) The feature is available in the free edition, and can be easily tested or you can just e-mail addonchat at support@addonchat.com if you want to request a trial.
|
Very, very well done. Installed and Rated.

I received a notice regarding mobile phones.....
Honestly until I read this I assumed there was no reason for me to upgrade..Since I'm not interested in mobile phones |
Hello. Thank you for the update. I just upgraded everything to 4.0.1 and I tried logging into the chat w/ my iPhone and it didn't work. :(
I clicked on the chat room, then I got a 2nd page that said "click to start Chat Room." I clicked and it went to a 3rd page that said "connecting" and then it blanks out, disappears, and goes back to the "click to start chat room" (2nd page) screen. Any ideas? Our forum has scheduled chats and I'm often "on the road" so it'd be nice to be able to participate via my phone. I'm so happy to see this update, but so far it doesn't work for me. I would appreciate any help. :) |
@dollster68: Please e-mail support@addonchat.com with your account number and let us know the mobile edition isn't working for you and one of the techs will be happy to determine the problem and get it resolved for you.
|
you can 'supplement plus having a professional paying only the difference in cost
|
What a disappointment, always off-line sin I have repented bitterly

Hi Chris, do you offer any discount for the Professional PLUS Edition, or eventually the enterprise-25, for current licensed vbulletin users? I like this product a lot but can't really afford 120-170/year to use all the nice features of this integration :(
|
Everything works perfect exepct that I can't see the number of "Users Chatting Count in Navigation Links". I am currently using the free edition, and could this be the reason? I am planning to go professional, but my site is not live yet, and it makes no sense to pay for something before I need it.
|
Last time I answered that I received an infraction :) Google it and I'm sure you'll get a result or two..
|
Awesome Mod! Love it's ease of installation and features!
|
The number of people chatting is working, but it is not working properly. I had 3 people chatting yesterday, and today (even if nobody has been using the chat in over 20 hours) it still says "Chat Room (3)".
|
Is there ANY chance at all you can make this ....
New in v4.0.1: Support for AddonChat Mobile Edition (iPhone, iPod Touch, etc..) work for the 3.7/3.8 version? Pretty please! |
@Katoona: Send me an e-mail (or send it to support@addonchat.com) and we'll be happy to look into it. This could be anything from a simple configuration issue to a firewall issue, either way we'll check it out.
@Club Ample: We are considering a new release targeted for v3.8 to include many updates, but a lot of work needs to be done to catch up to the features available in the 4.01 release. No promises yet on a release, but if all you really need is the support for the mobile edition, that is something I can work with you on to edit the templates appropriately for the new link code. e-mail support@addonchat.com attn: Chris and I'll work with you to make the necessary template changes. |

Super News Grim... I'd be happy to donate to further the cause. I really feel this addition would increase the daytime usage of my chat room at least 100%, because of work firewalls. I'll email you there. |

Is it possible to post the solution here? |
You need Professional to Enable vBulletin Authentication? That mean's you can't have admins and moderators... then what's the point of the Free chat? If you can't moderate it, the members will do whatever they want and it will be chaos. Am I doing something wrong or does the Free version really not include this?
|
Works Perfect
|
Is the http://www.addonchat.com/ site currently down?
As I cannot access it nor can I access http://www.addoninteractive.com/ for some reason. Thanks. PS: I don't have issues accessing any other sites. EDIT: There seems to be an issue with your domain name not working. As I can access your site via your IP address but not your domain name. |
@CybaGirl - The problem was a DDoS attack on one or two of our nameservers. We're on top of it ;)
|
Yes thanks for getting back to me and everything is working again!
Awesome product with awesome support thanks very much! |
I am looking for some documentation on ways to integrate this.
For example, using the vbulletin cms, if I created an article/static html page for a specific chat event, could this be embedded into the page or is it always on a single stand alone page that cannot be edited to show anything else? More specifically, if I want to create a static HTML page and embed a ustream live event, can I embed addon chat right next to it? Then, when I do a different live show next week, create a new page and do the same thing? |
@reefland:
Yes, you can. This mod, as-is, provides for integration on either the chat room's own page or a popup page, and there is also a CMS widget for a popup link + who's chatting display (see the included README.TXT file for instructions) You can also add the chat room code manually to any CMS page, and it can be combined with whatever other content you'd like (such as ustream). The easiest way I know of to do this would be to create your own Static HTML Widget (vBulletin CMS -> Widgets) and add the HTML code manually. Your AddonChat link code can be found in the AddonChat control panel or in the original e-mail you should have received when first registering for the service. If you run into any snags settings this up, feel free to e-mail support@addonchat.com for assistance. |
