I am a little late in seeing this Mod but I do like it as a new site I want to actually see the spider views over real guests and get a realistic idea how many guests are on.

I noticed that it was counting bots but it was not showing the name in the Who's online section just the count so I would get

Cezz, Mo0o0oh, FallenAngel, (4), (2), , , all the blanks/numbers being bots but the names not showing :S... I have downloaded and uploaded the latest XML file is there something else I need to do to make the names start appearing?

kNeeLy 03-01-2010 08:35 PM

installed in 4.0.2 and working great!!

thanks!

Hi majsm,

I am having the same issue as some of the other people here. I followed the instructions step by step and uploaded the latest spiders_vbulletin.xml from this website: http://spiderlist.codeforgers.com/list.php

The couple issues I am seeing:

1. Guests are marked as Spiders
2. I have yet seen a Spider that shows its name

I will be glad to assist in debugging, so let me know what information you need.

Thanks.

Kasht

I looked on your website and it says it's vb 3.7. This add-on has not yet been tested on 3.7

I however am running vB4.0.2 and I am also having no spiders names, I haven't noticed guests showing as spiders though.

Any Fix?

Hello majsm,

You probably went to my old website. I have a new website on 4.0.2. Here it is:

http://www.boricuagaming.com

The file is located here:

http://www.boricuagaming.com/include..._vbulletin.xml

Thanks.

Kasht

EDIT: I checked the XML I'm using with the one on your website and they are exactly the same. The only difference is the directory structure (yours is in <HOME>/forum/includes/xml, while mine is in <HOME>/includes/xml), which should be ok because my forum home is the root of my website.

kasht 03-02-2010 02:43 PM

OK, I found what the problem is...

To everybody experiencing the problem, please go to your AdminCP, Who's Online Options, and for the Enable Spider Display select YES!!!

Save and voila, problem solved.

Perhaps this should be included in the instructions on the initial post.

BTW, are you considering a future version? If so, it would be nice to see the right data here too: http://www.boricuagaming.com/online.php

I'm happy with the mod showing the spiders on the Forum Home page, just wanted to throw it in case you are looking to add new function in the future.

Guys, INSTALL this mod. It works fine! :)

Thanks.

Kasht

hello how to fix validator error

# Error Line 2658, Column 429: character data is not allowed here

?or: #FF0000'>Extra PC</span></a></li> , Google, Yahoo! Slurp, Google AdSense

You have used character data somewhere it is not permitted to appear. Mistakes that can cause this error include:

* putting text directly in the body of the document without wrapping it in a container element (such as a <p>aragraph</p>), or
* forgetting to quote an attribute value (where characters such as "%" and "/" are common, but cannot appear without surrounding quotes), or
* using XHTML-style self-closing tags (such as <meta ... />) in HTML 4.01 or earlier. To fix, remove the extra slash ('/') character. For more information about the reasons for this, see Empty elements in SGML, HTML, XML, and XHTML.

wolfyman 03-08-2010 01:46 PM

There are currently 367 users online. 273 members and 0 guests and 94 spiders

Think there's something goofy about that?

mmacrypt 03-09-2010 04:58 AM

I have it installed, same as a lot of folks, all guest are showing up as spiders and no names. tried fix that kasht mentioned and no change. I'm going to sleep on it and see if it "fixes itself" by morning ;) if not, sadly going to have to uninstall.

Theda 03-09-2010 07:13 AM

I uninstalled this because it's showing all my guests as spiders, always.

WingnutWN 03-11-2010 02:33 AM

Here is my code, spiders do not show up. Website is www.warnuts.com

<!-- logged-in users -->
<div id="wgo_onlineusers" class="wgo_subblock">
<h3><img src="cpstyles/darkvision/misc/users_online.png" alt="Currently Active Users" />Currently Active Users</h3>
<div>
<p>There are currently <a href="online.php">5 users online</a>. <span class="shade">2 members and 0 guests and 3 spiders</span></p>
<p>Most users ever online was 49, 02-23-2010 at <span class="time">06:39 AM</span>.</p>
<ol class="commalist" id="wgo_onlineusers_list">
<b><span style="color: gray;">• Unregistered / Not Logged In</span> <span style="color: lightyellow;">• Registered Users</span> <span style="color: orange;">• Administrators</span> <span style="color: green;">• Warnut</span> </b><br /><br /> <li> <a class="username" href="member.php?1-Wingnut"><span style="color: orange;">Wingnut</span></a></li> <li> <a class="username" href="member.php?4-duffle_bag"><span style="color: green;">duffle_bag</span></a></li> , (3)
</ol>
</div>
</div>
<!-- end logged-in users -->

As you can see it shows (3) spiders with no names....

Show Spiders is on
Colors have been assigned

Just don't know.

hotone 03-11-2010 12:54 PM

great job, thanks.

YankForum 03-11-2010 01:16 PM

installed thanks

Ceri May 03-11-2010 11:54 PM

Worked out the spiders names not showing it is an easy fix but it works really well -_-

Go to vBulletin Options => Who's Online Options => Enable Spider Display => Yes Save that, make sure you spider.xml is up to date and install this mod and then everything works.

As for guests showing as bots, this is not happening for me though I have to admit that sometimes I have hundreds of bots and hardly any guests myself and wish it was a bug but checking IP's etc they are indeed bots.

The same
01 - all guests number as spiders number
02 - Not show name spider (vBB ver 4.0.1 - 4.0.2 PL4)

syrn 03-28-2010 06:37 AM

Nice .... Installed !!!

imbonez9 04-22-2010 03:43 PM

Broken in 4.0.3 as well. Tried to figure out the code but no luck. Had to uninstall, shame because this has great potential. :-(

Claudi 04-24-2010 03:57 AM

Works fine with 4.0.3. Thanks!!!

imbonez9 04-24-2010 05:36 PM

Claudi: what is your forum address? I would like to see this working.

Markos 04-24-2010 06:03 PM

works fine on my forum 4.0.3 pl1

ShawneyJ 05-05-2010 11:00 PM

It adds one query is all when it fetches the spider list.

Boofo 05-11-2010 03:02 PM

majsm,

Are you planning on adding this to the Who's Online page also?

Martinoo 05-16-2010 06:54 PM

Great!!
Thx
Danke

anhtuanvo 05-18-2010 11:37 PM

Dear all who is using vB 4.0.3
You must go to Admincp/Vbulletin options/Who's Online Options and set the value Enable Spider Display to Yes, after that, install this product .
It's work.

argothiusz 05-19-2010 03:46 AM

Followed all steps and confirmed that it doesnt work on Vb4.0.3. Guests got put into spider list and none of the spiders shown. And yes, I do read!

Boofo 05-19-2010 05:37 AM

argothiusz, you must have missed something somewhere as this hack DOES work, for the most part. Although, I do not use it, as I have my own, I did test it and it did work. Did you make sure to get an updated spiders_vbulletin.xml, or are you using the default one that comes with vb?

argothiusz 05-19-2010 06:38 AM

Yup, I got the updated spiders_vbulletin from the site above. Perhaps, it conflicted with some other modifications.

ywwz 05-19-2010 07:44 AM

LOVE it, works on 4.0.2

Alex@Mk3OC 05-19-2010 02:58 PM

Works fine on our 4.0.3

argothiusz 05-19-2010 08:28 PM

I let it run overnight and it seems to work now. Probably must be cron problem.

your24hourstore 05-19-2010 09:04 PM

good way to tell if this mod is working

is go tweet some links back to some of your threads about 20 of them you should have at least 50 spiders on your board before you can get it done

oddmud 05-19-2010 11:03 PM

Is there a more up to date list, this list was updated in October 2009. Old data for the internet.
