Thanks, it's working now.

It would be great to include some of the features of this modification into this one.

I like its news feature and that you can choose what to display.

betty02 01-04-2010 11:27 AM

I really love and want to use this mod but it doesnt show correctly on my forum? Views like this. also could you add a section that can link to the latest pictures posted in the Albums?

My problem is below :

If you could fix this certainly be mod of the month!!

Has this been done yet, it's been a few weeks since you said you would and I don't see the option. Unfortunately I think a lot of people will pass on this mod until it can be used under the navbar.

ArbStar 01-05-2010 07:31 AM

Please check my posts in the previous pages for the temporary solution to use it under the navbar, and please note that the updated XML file is in post #77

Wow fast reply.

Is there any chance we can have it more natural looking? The way it is right now doesn't fit in very well.

Perhaps having it so it looks more like each forum category, like the SS attached.

dtommy79 01-05-2010 09:07 AM

Then it would look like another forum category. I think it should retain the look of a topx stat mod, although there is still work to be done.

Very nice upgrade !! Glad to see the direction this mod is headed :D

Personally appreciate your help in this matter

I have included a screenshot of what it looks like on my forum, I think I'm on the bandwagon of having it look more "forum" friendly myself.

If it were encompassed like the chat box is and the forum below, I think it would look more "fitting". Just a suggestion.

Thoughts?

ArbStar, what would it take for the mod to fit in the requirements I posted about above?

Yes, I'm curious too. I'm willing to maybe donate $5-7 USD over paypal to have this done (sry I would donate more but I'm broke).

I'm done, please try the attached XML file and tell me if it works fine.

phonexpo 01-06-2010 09:52 AM

Thanks Arb.

Just a few issues though, there's a "<" on the top left of the Latest Statistics box. Also is it possible to use the v4.0 images for the Collapse/Expand buttons?

/images/buttons/collapse_40b.png etc

BR's

Removed the ( < ) & Replaced the image link

check the updated attachemnt

phonexpo 01-06-2010 10:50 AM

Excellent :)

I change this line of the code;

Code:

  $latest_posts .= '<tr><td>'.$count.'</td><td><a href="showthread.php?t='.$post['threadid'].'&amp;goto=newpost#'.$post['lastpostid'].'">'.substr($post['title'],0,30).'...</a></td><td><a href="member.php?u='.$post['lastposterid'].'">'.$post['lastposter'].'</a></td><td><a href="showthread.php?t='.$post['threadid'].'"><img src="images/buttons/collapse_40b.png" alt="" /></a></td></tr>';
to;

Code:

  $latest_posts .= '<tr><td>'.$count.'</td><td><a href="showthread.php?t='.$post['threadid'].'&amp;goto=newpost#'.$post['lastpostid'].'">'.substr($post['title'],0,100).'...</a></td><td><a href="member.php?u='.$post['lastposterid'].'">'.$post['lastposter'].'</a></td><td><a href="showthread.php?t='.$post['threadid'].'"><img src="images/buttons/collapse_40b.png" alt="" /></a></td></tr>';
It increases the 30 character limit.

Thanks again,

-Patrick :)

Skyrider 01-06-2010 11:05 AM

removed... again! It still shows thread title names within hidden sections to the public!

I'd like to have the sections (private) included on the list, but not visible to those who don't have access to the section.

phonexpo 01-06-2010 12:15 PM

Ah, I see. I'm sure it will be possible soon, this mod seems to be changing for the better everyday thanks to ArbStar.

If you have been following along with this thread, you would understand that you can filter forums that won't be listed in the latest post, although they aren't permission based, it's a great workaround imo.

I removed my admin forums, but left the "members" forum. It's a donation based forum. Meaning users who have donated to our site, get extra forums for their support and it's great when posts are made there, and others can see, but not view. Great incentive for them to support the forum.

Followed under Nav bar instructions to the T - still displays at bottom of forum.
Still better than nothing.

meissenation 01-08-2010 03:23 AM

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you to the developer and ArbStar. I've been eating a crap ton of crow ever since I upgraded to vb4 without having a Top X Statistics add-on. THANK YOU!

The Coon 01-08-2010 10:34 AM

Hello!

It?s a cool Add-On ... compliment! But I personally would prefer:

Latest Threads and Newest Members on Forum Home

Because there are so much more new posts than new threads in my forum everyday.
For the new posts I use a block of the forums sidebar, where about 25 new posts are displayed ...

Unfortunately I am not able to change the script to my needs. :o

nicky.82uk 01-08-2010 02:28 PM

thank you so much

Make sure that you Edited the FORUMHOME template & uploaded the (latestposts_navbar.xml) product instead of the old one (dont forget to delete the old one first).

The latest one you uploaded (click here for link to post) with the new style to make it fit in better with the forum shows posts in forums that have restricted perms.

For example, I have a moderator only section on my forum but when I log out, the moderator posts still show up in the latest post list.

Can you please fix this? Also, adding it so we can customize the character limit would be awesome. Keep up the great work, you're doing a very good job and we all love you for it! :D

ArbStar 01-08-2010 06:24 PM

I'll do the "Customize char. limit" & "Latest threads/posts ?" in ACP.

but for the permission thing i dont think i'll be able to do it, but i'll try my best :)

Sorry to be a feature creep, but the old Latest X Posts also had the option to exclude certain users from the statistics. This is because some forums (including mine) have RSS Feed users that are created solely to repost RSS feeds from other websites automatically. I would like to be able to exclude RSS Feed users from the stats because their post count is way higher for the simple reason that the user is a bot that reposts content automatically.

ragarcia87 01-08-2010 08:24 PM

My users can see thread titles to threads that they dont have permission to see.

We have a staff section and only staff are allowed there but with this plugin all users can see the thread titles in the Latest Posts section.

Would be cool to update it so they can't see forum titles for forums they dont have permission to view.

St0rmNet 01-09-2010 11:59 AM

Same as problem as Ragarcia87, Any way to fix this? Other than that great mod.

zeroality 01-09-2010 12:36 PM

Hey, great job on this. However, I would like to increase the number of characters shown in the topic titles on the latest posts listings so the latest posts stretches out a bit and I would like to remove Newest Members to make room for that.

I tried going to the Plugin Manager but it was only php code, so I looked for the template and found it under forumhome_latestposts but seems like the code I need to edit is in {vb:raw latest_posts} and I don't know where to find that. Could you help out please?

Edit: Oh yeah dang, I have the same problem as the above posters - I can see threads listed from the staff forum even as a guest.

Edit2: I read through the whole thread and found the updated XML with forum excludes. Great job. Still would like help with my original problem though. Many thanks!
