Cheers, works now. It would be nice to have an option (yes/no) to redirect the User straight to his Welcome Thread
|
Just an update, I got busy at work but I should have a update by sunday.
|
Would it be possible to have the username in the welcome post link to that user's profile? Thinking along the lines of an introduction, I thought it would be nice to have the username link to that user's profile so others can see more info on the member...or prompt the user to update their profile?

Sorry no update guys I promise its coming soon.
We got pounded by 3 foot of snow and I have been nothing but digging out for the last few days and needless to say there is no where to put it all. We are getting another storm Tuesday with another foot and more Thursday. So I do not know when I will have time to look at any of my mods at the current moment. |
Thanks for this Mod i am using it on 3.8.4 and works great and also love that now Sigs are showing Thank You.
|
This hack went berzerk on me and started a bunch of threads welcoming "unregistered," as well as new registrants who had not yet clicked the confirmation e-mail, even though I had set it specifically to do that.
Is this a 4.0.1 glitch or is it the hack itself? |

I always have to answer the same question over and over. We provide these mods free with free support the least some people can do is read the thread. That would save me time having to answer the same question over and over. |
Installed.
It works a treat, but I get 3 welcome messages for the same new user. I think thats in hand and something to do with a hook with vB having read through the post. It wasnt that hard really to read through the posts!!!!!! Will wait and see what happens. Meantime I can delete the other 2 welcome threads causing no hassle. Cheers BBR-APBT (strange name lol) Keep up the good work! |
mate read back on the most recent posts..dont only read your post.....scroll back and you will find the answer..these people make these mods for free ..your question is answered 20 times in other posts and a correction is added .STOP BEING LAZY lol
|
Thanks BBR!
Very nice mod :) |
BBR-APBT, the fix for the known bug highlighted in your opening post will be released when vB have added a hook you say in the next vB 4 release? What about for those running the 3.8 series?
This plugin works like a charm on the 3.8.4 so far but I am guessing they won't be making anymore changes to the 3.8 series except basic bug fixes so I am guessing we'll have to apply a fix which requires a manual edit? Correct? |
Can this pull a profile field and add it to the thread content ?
Thanks |

great mod but nothings happening if an new user has register i do someting wrong ?
thx |
The forum with the ID of 1 is most likely a category.
Double check which forum you want the welcome message posted in. |

If possible , can this new user then be subscribed to the thread automatically ? |
I will look into that as I am working on it now. That is a great idea.

I also second the ability to have the new member automatically subscribed to the thread if possible! |
BBR-APBT:
For a future release, can you make it so their username in the thread is linked to their userprofile? |
This might be a dumb question, but I can't figure out what to enter for the ForumID that i want the thread to be in. I assume it is supposed to be a number, but I can't find any numbers associated with the Forums other than the Display order.
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. |
I dont know but my thread smilies icon are all over the place, sometimes it will start a thread with a sad :( smiley which isnt part of the smilies I've given in the option.
Please help on fixing the thread icon number. |

For example:- www.example.com/forumdisplay.php?p=25-My-Forum-SEO-Friendly-Title Then the number 25 will be your forumid ;) |
Hi, BBR!
This is an outstanding mod. Thank you! I'm using 4.0.2 and having all of the issues mentioned when set to post after activation. Multiple posts, posts for Unregistered, and posts for people who aren't new. I see a hook called register_addmember_complete. I'm wondering if that's the new hook you mentioned, and, if so, can it be added somewhere else as a temporary fix? I know you're a busy guy so I don't want to ask when the official update is coming. ;) Also, seconding (thirding?) the suggestion to automatically subscribe the new user to their welcome thread so they'll know it's there. TY again for all of your hard work! :) |
Hi, So strange.. it opens threads and mentions welcome guest... as I assume guests don;t register, so is this a bug ?
I even did, after email conformation, to open the thread... but still a problem ;) Please advise and thanks. |
Nothing on this.. ?
|
The welcome guest is a bug. I had this installed and have been waiting for the fix then got tired of waiting so I uninstalled.
|
thanks ....
|
Greetings!
I've been using this mod for quite some time. It appears however with 4.03, the threads are placed into moderation? I have checked my forums and the user for any moderation issues, didn't find any. Just curious if I am the only one? |
Ah I got it...
Appears the posts are coming in initially as "guests" and ofcourse guest postings are moderated. I see this is addressed in earlier posts, but I wasn't having symptoms until 4.03. Oh well... |
