Very nice site.

As for the gaming site above you, how did you imput a background so nicely. I keep getting wierd formatting problems. What settings did you use.

Yeah that got to me too.

The background is put into the doc_background var... The background color is the color which ends on the bottom ("#2D1312") and the background is the image ("url(ESO/img/mbg.jpg)"). Then with a no-repeat, it looks perfect.

daveaite 12-25-2009 08:24 AM

Thanks for the quick feedback.

What about the body_background, Is that just a transparent background?

haothiencz 12-26-2009 01:44 AM

I took over as Website Coordinator for my clan a few weeks before the upgrade. This is my first attempt at a VB skin. I think I did OK.

<a href="http://forums.hostcule.com/forums.php" target="_blank">http://forums.hostcule.com/forums.php</a> <- I've been working on the templates themselves more than the usual bits, so it does look a bit differnet

consolegaming 12-26-2009 10:41 PM

Well I had posted in the other thread last week or so but it seems this is the one to post in (Plus I updated a couple of small things anyway):

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6919/cgscreen.jpg

A screen from our site's test site. It's using the default colours but only because it suits our website header.

Even though it is a great looking skin, I would much rather see it custom made rather then being a style bought from vbskinworks and upgraded to 4.0.

You are underestimating the process :P

I just used some icons and a couple of gradient images.

haothiencz 12-27-2009 12:25 AM

I could say,

even convert a vb 3.x.x style to 4.x.x style was something.

@Darkmmortal: Very nice and clear done !

Sleeter 12-27-2009 03:16 AM

I am a total Noob at this; only been playing with VB for the last year. Got through the upgrade with only minor setbacks here and there. Not too bad. The more familiar I get with the CMS the more I like it - a HUGE improvement over vbAdvanced. Last big job is to upgrade vbGallery to Photopost Pro and re-link with the site. Other than that I have been getting a good response from my members.

Despite the missing style variables, I think this one didn't turn out too bad. But it's almost entirely re-coloring.

Once you get the hang of it the stylevars and templates are pretty easy to find your way around.. here's my forums so far.

Changed my images first before I upgraded to vB4 then did the upgrade, went perfectly. I then changed all the Style Vars, what a job that is, here is the mostly finished work. Style 1 a Red and Black style a lot of changes:

http://www.mikescomputerinfo.com/vbi....php?styleid=2

Style 2 Blue with Black and Red images new Logo:

http://www.mikescomputerinfo.com/vbi....php?styleid=5

and the Default Style with new logo:

http://www.mikescomputerinfo.com/vbi....php?styleid=6

I made 3 styles the Red and Black, the default with the Black and Red images and the vB default, each style has it's own image folder, images1, images2 and images3 and the image paths in all the vars for each style has been changed. Thanks for looking and for any comments. All ads are made to match the different styles.

My skin is an adaption form my vbulletin 3.X Skin.

Now. I really did notl ike the nav bar of vBulletin 4.X so the first thing you will notice in the screenshot is the fact that the navbar is rather different to normal vbulletin 4.X skins ^^ It's like a hybrid between 3.X and 4.X =]

Second thing you will notice is I abolished those CSS Buttons and put back the old fashioned image buttons. =] After some testing and tweaking I got them working just like the old ones. =]

Anyway I feel I am only 30% done so far and as I am in a rush I am sorry for the rather low quality screenshot below =]

I'll put better ones up when I am done!

I hope you guys like it!

I'm FAR from being done, but this is what I have so far. I'm still having many problems with the spacing between the columns. Some of what shows in the picture is due to my screen resolution being 1440x900, but even when I set my resolution to the standard 1024x768, it's still off quite a bit.

I got bored from the former style. It's still pretty much the same, but edited none the less:

Boy does my head hurt, I still have way too much to do, but here's a couple shots of the current test forums.

I've never had this much trouble, you would think a so called "gold" product would have their new stylevar system all worked out, a complete guide to the style system in place plus the psd files all ready to go......

HagbardCeline 01-02-2010 07:27 AM

I think, the new stylevar system is useless and is a barrage for an individual layout. But peoples without any CSS/HTML skills, can change colors very simple and fast.

keep up the great work

Greetings.

The site is still in beta (just launched on 01/01/10) and there is a lot of cleanup/tweaking to do, but here's a site we just launched:

http://www.reefaddicts.com/

Ironically we're not using the traditional forums part of vBulletin (except in the social groups) but instead are relying on articles, groups, blogs & custom modules we'll be developing to drive the community interaction.
