Update:

Did the whole clean and reinstall again, and indeed, the problems still exist. In going through the code, there is too much hardcoding of syntax and size requirements for many snippets in the code views via PlugIn Manager (AdminCP).

for example, in the 5.2 version of "adsense [algdeer.net] postbit", it is clean, but in the 6.0 version there are size and type references everywhere. It is almost as if you have made this AdSense and size centric by the coding of it now. not good for me, since I do not use AdSense code with this mod, nor do I have to in 5.2 or prior. When running 6.0 and no Adsense code in the settings, I still get ads (if I put in my pub ID). If not, I get garbage text where I expect Chitika or another ad to appear.

To compare the 2, specifically where I am referring:

6.0 [leaderboard has too many constricting parameters which is what is causing these symptoms] - this is just one example of it and it is pervasive in the other code components comprising the plugin as well:
in 5.2, the above does not exist, and therefore does not drive the issues being encountered. It uses hooks more effectively, in my opinion, and avoids the hardcoding issues noted above.

I will stick with 5.2 until all this is resolved. As stated before, this is a great mod with huge potential, but this latest "upgrade" has introduced troubles for many of us.

Keep the faith and I look forward to the next shot at this. :up:

How do you show ads inside the first post?

I added it and it worked great. I installed a new style, deleted the old style, changed the colors in ain and the old colors stick. is there some cache somewhere to fix my colors?

For those interested, Hendrik at duobloger created some tutorials about integrating adsense in the first post and another about adsense section targetting. I was looking for these instructions like crazy and Hendrik was nice enough to create some tutorials.

I have a suggestion for a feature in a future release.

To fully explain this, I have to explain my situation first.
My forum has 2 styles that a user can choose from; The default one, and a lighter one.

Now, no matter what I do, google ads are going to stick out on one of the styles.
(If I use a dark template for the google ads, they will stick out on the lighter template, and vice versa).

I suggest that you add an option to enter a set of banners/ads codes for each template.

That way, the user will be able to have a set of ads that blends into every template, instead of blending into one perfectly, and sticking out like a sore thumb on another.

A very simple way of doing this would be to have an option in the Admin CP to set the number of styles on the forum. Then, based on the number entered, display that number of "adsnese codes" boxes (Typo in v5.2 :D - it should be spelt "Adsense")
(These are the boxes that contain the adsense codes that appear on the forum)

Then, underneath each set of boxes, display another field that a user can type the styleid of each style they want.

For example;

A user sets the option to have 3 styles.

3 different sets of adsense code boxes are displayed, with an option underneath that a user types the StyleID of the skin/style that set of google adsense ads are placed on.

You could check which styleID is being used the same way that you check the current user's usergroup ID to decide if ads are shown or not.

the rev sharing.. can this be used to share between ONLY the admins? like really all we want it for at this point is to split the revenue between the 2 of us for now.. perhaps later on down the road we will use it to share with the users.

I've been poking around in the settings and trying to figure out if this is possible but if it is i don't understand how to get that working.

another thing that boggles me is the field part:

enter the name of the field that contains user adsense publisher id
attention: should build new field, example: field6

i was thinking this might be the way to get it to do what we need. i'm just really not sure what to do with this at all. perhaps a step by step for a simpleton like me would be helpful.

Can I create two custom ads because for custom ad, I already used it to display image only leaderboards.

o0_avid_0o sharing settings have no advance options yet. let's wait the next version :)

with v6.0 you can't add square ads in between posts.. next version will include more flexible options and optimized codes.


that because I use one id for many attributes to reloading ads. you can fixed it by editing 'ain_adsense_sideH' template find and delete:

after this you will be unable to use reloading option.

I will fix this in the newer version.

if you want to enable adsense revenue share, you should build user field and write the field name in options of adsense revenue share. you can build field as following:
- AdminCP -> User Profile Fields -> Add New User Profile Field
- choose Profile Field Type: single-line text box then continue
- add information like what in this file then save the field.
- copy the name of field and bring it to main options in AGA.

First of all, great add-on. :)

Bugs I noticed in 6.0:
1) Main options > main options > choose alignment for ads: at this option left and right are switched.
2) Display Options > display ads in different pages > display ads in archive: yes and no give the same result. Ads are always displayed in the archive.
3) On the page album.php?albumid=* the top ad is displayed after the <br /> and thus isn't displayed correctly (two line breaks before the ad and none after). On the pages album.php and album.php?albumid=*&pictureid=* the ad is showing fine.
4) The option "display after x post" is behaving odd. For instance when using "2" there, on each page of the thread it would show an ad after the first post -and- then 2 posts later, so in-between the 3th and 4th, it would show another, and 2 posts later, etc. So it behaves as if it does "display after first post all page" + the additional x posts later. In addition to this, if this is fixed, could it maybe be possible to have an option "display after x post" and "display after x post all pages"? For instance if you'd like to show the ad after each 2nd post (but not repeat it after every 2 posts like it does now).
5) When viewing pictures in Social Groups, no ads are shown even though ads are turned on for both Social Groups and Albums.
6) If a forum has "Allow Post Icons" set to "No" then the colspan will be wrong and the ad links will be displayed in the wrong area.
7) The link ads show when searching for "Find all posts by user", which uses a different style so they probably shouldn't show then.

Feedback:
1) Could it be possible to add an option to turn off the use of google_ad_slot for archive ads? That way the archive ads would have the default color and would look better with the default colors than with the color scheme I use on the normal (non-archive) version (since that's dark/black instead of white/light).
2) In addition to the feedback above, maybe allow us to put the banner that's showing below the archive at the left side? So 2 side banners and one on top? I've stumbled upon this mod and it gives some more freedom with the archive ads: EZ Archive Ad System. Here an example of a site using it: website.
3) 2 options are missing at the moment. It's impossible to turn off the sidebar in the search results (afaik) and it's also impossible to set the type of banner. I'd like a banner instead of leaderboard and no skyscraper at the side but I can't get this done at the moment:
Display options > display ads in different pages
4) The custom adsense search is showing fine on the forum. Could it be possible to add compatibility with vbadvanced so it will show on the portal page as well?
5) Maybe add the possibility to show ads on forum category pages (i.e. when clicked on category instead of subforum)?

Installed ver 6 with no problems exept one problem:

In explorer 8 it works without broblems but some users with explorer 6 and 7 complain about ads being aligned sometimes on the left side and sometimes on the center randomly,
(choose alignment for ads - center)

Bug:

- if you active ads for social groups the mod is in conflict with "transfer group" system.

This is the most annoying bug of the ones I reported. If anyone knows how to fix it, let me know. :)

I definitely want to add this one in the near future. I'm especially interested in the revenue sharing aspect of it.

Once you create the new user profile field(s) and they put their Google Adsense info into the field(s) where will that code display?

I'd want them to have the 'within first post' option so that it encourages them to post new threads since it shows their ads and possible money for them! :D

Excellent mod! Keep up the good work. I have a few suggestions for future development.

1. Allow for finer usergroup permissions, preferably unique display rights per ad. I like to show the top ad (under navbar) to guests only.

2. Ability to add multiple custom code(s) per ad location, since Google only allows 3 ads per page we are limited to use only a fraction of the available locations. If we can rotate between custom code and Adsense we can deliver our content focused ads we sell through normal advertisement offerings, and not go over the three ad limit. Example, I rotate between ads delivered by OpenX and Adsense in posts.

3. Ability to define the display post ad after every x post. For instance, we could enter 1,15,30,45,60. Then it would display an ad after that post #.

I was using you 4,0 mod on my forum using vb 3.7.4 with patch level 1 and it was working fantastic. Then I upgraded the forum to 3.8.2. Once I upgraded the forum, I tried to upgrade your Mod to the 6.0 version and over right it. Now I am having a couple of problems trying to get everything to work right again, and can use your help.

Can you please tell me how to fix the way these ads are showing?

the revenue share is allowed only for 2 ad blocks on show thread !!
and not allowed in adsense inside posts
so if i allow rev. share together with adsense inside post the member pub-id appear in 2 blocks and mine appear on inside post

Question, does anyone know if the 6.0 version of this Mod can be reverted back to the 5.2 if I re upload the product xml file in the admincp?

That 6.0 version isn't working on VB 3.82, and I'd rather not go thru the hassle of uninstalling the product and setting it all back up.

Never mind! I got someone whi fixed everything up by stripping out the old code and only entering the #s code in the ad setup boxes.

Database Error Occurs, if Threads are merged without leaving redirect. If you try to access old urls which has been merged with new thread, you will see error.

The error will appear only if revenue sharing is enabled.
