No, this hack should add a little orange RSS feed icon automatically. Did you upload the images folder and did you import the product file under Manage Products? If you have done everything correctly then it should work, it's a fairly simple hack. Double check where you uploaded the the cv_rss_feeds.php file, is it in the forums directory?

As mentioned above, the file "external.php" is the actual script that comes with vBulletin and is what actually generates your feeds. This script points to that script.

Yes

Where exactly did you upload the file to? The file should have been upload to where your vBulletin is installed at. Did you rename the file?

If the files were uploaded to the correct locations and if your plugins are turned on then the link should be appearing automatically.

The CinVin vB Forum Feed Listing folder is located under the Forums directory below the archive folder and above clientscript.

Bob_R 06-19-2009 05:35 PM

OK, I'm getting closer. :)

But,

- No RSS image in footer

- The RSS page shows no images and is repeated 4 times

I got it!!!!

I'd like to thank viper357 and KW802 :)

KW802 06-19-2009 06:45 PM

Bob_R: Good to see you got it working. I tried making the install easy but if there are any steps you think I should clarify a bit during the install, let me know and I'll update the instructions. :)

Viper357: Thanks. :)

What version are you using on what version of vB? Did you try turning the Debug mode on the in ACP to see if anything is listed?

So the only thing that has changed is that vBSEO has been installed? In that case, did you turn the option for vBSEO rewrites? (ACP => vBulletin Options => CinVin Forum Feed Listing => vBSEO Installed)

Running the latest version of vBSEO (not sure what # they're up to)? I'll take a look when I'm back at the house tonight; unless you're running an older version of vBSEO with a newer version of the script, or vice versa, then it should be running as expected unless the vBSEO functions got renamed again. ... in which case, I'll check it out tonight. :)

I haven't forgotten... just haven't had a chance to re-install vBSEO to my test site yet. :o Hopefully this weekend.

GSeybold 07-21-2009 01:13 PM

excellent. Worked flawlessly.. thank you! :)

DontWannaName 07-21-2009 09:07 PM

I just installed this and set the permissions to view to registered users (2) but its only letting everyone, even me as an admin view the forums that unregistered users see. On every other forum it shows a blank page and yahoo says there is no rss feed there when I try it that way.

gbeebani 08-09-2009 02:33 AM

Just one minor suggestion: Maybe you should have the RSS to be text instead of an icon, and place the icon next to it. This will make finding the RSS link a lot easier for unfamiliar users and especially useful in larger forums.

Personally, when I go to any site, I hit Ctrl+f then type RSS to jump to the RSS link. The CinVin plug in will return nothing if you search for RSS using the Ctrl+f command.

Otherwise, great plug in and very easy to install!

KW802...

Not sure if you're aware of this, but for someone who uses W3C to validate their XHTML...it may be of some use.

If one enables the addition of the template name in comments via Admin CP > vBulletin Options > General settings...and goes to W3C to validate the XHTML code...they will find it doesn't validate. However, if you disable the template name in comments, it validates fine.

Here's the code when using this the template names in comments:

Code:

<a href="<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: cv_ffl_forum_link -->
http://glitchpc.com/forums/index.php

The above red text needs to be located outside the <a href> tag in order to be compliant.

Just a "heads up"...

princeedward 08-29-2009 12:36 PM

great installed and thanks.....;)

I just installed 2.4.3 and all my private forums are showing. I even left the setting to default for usergroup 1.

KW802 09-14-2010 10:23 PM

ah why i dont see this before, all forums that get this error is using vbseo 3.5 above, since vbseo 3.5 above the folder is changed to /vbseo folder

so to fix it, open cv_rss_feeds.php file,

find this

Code:

include_once './includes/functions_vbseo.php';
replace with this

Code:

include_once './vbseo/includes/functions_vbseo.php';

done, it will fix the error

Hi, I was looking over this thread to see if this product is compatible with vBulletin 4 but couldn't find anything, apologies if I overlooked it. We just upgraded to vbulletin 4.1.3 from 3.8.

We're running version 2.4.3 of this product and I am getting these errors at the top of our pages:

Quote:

Warning: fetch_template() calls should be replaced by the vB_Template class. Template name: cv_ffl_rss_link_in_quicklinks in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 4097

Warning: fetch_template() calls should be replaced by the vB_Template class. Template name: cv_ffl_rss_button_in_footer in [path]/includes/functions.php on line 4097
Any ideas what may be causing this? I haven't tried running debug mode yet as I cannot find where to do that, would that possibly help solve this?

Cliff Notes is that this version definitely won't work as-is with vB4. There hasn't been too much inquiries about it for vB4 so it has been low on my To Do list. However, with my own sites getting close to making the switch to vB4 also I'll likely be updating this soon for vB4.

Thanks for the quick response and that's great to hear, will update my client. :)

FYI

I've edit the release settings to turn on the "Re-Use" option. There were no changes to the attachment.

vB-Tr 10-12-2012 09:19 AM

vb 4x? version ?

DaPike 10-19-2012 05:02 PM

Is this hack also working in vB 4.1.0??
I would have this in my board.
Or does someone know any hack like this for vB4?

Thx for help.

DaPike
