Looks like a great add-on Coroner!

Just a quick question, is it possible to search for photos taken with certain cameras? (ie get the info from the exif data if embeded)

So if a photo is taken with a Nikon D300 and it's in the exif data will people be able to find that photo in a search? (whilst searching for 'Nikon D300').

Cheers!

Thanks

You can't search for exif data.
to do this, you need to store all the informations (and this could be a lot) into the database.

Razasharp 02-22-2009 04:39 PM

Ok thanks...

How about being able to search for more than one tag?

So if a thread is tagged:

Nikon, D300

And someone searches for 'Nikon D300' - that thread comes up. Is this possible (or something you can add for the next release?).

Coroner 02-22-2009 04:44 PM

*storedinbrain* :D
good idea

Razasharp 02-22-2009 05:12 PM

Thanks! Look forward to it :D

Vindicator 02-22-2009 09:25 PM

Fixed my issue. I'm officially a noob. The media type I was uploading was not enabled for the group. By default the group is only given 3 media types instead of all of them?? Maybe this should be changed to enable all by default?? May be a good reason not to though!

Anyway, my uploading media files issue is solved! :)

Thanks.

Nominated MOTM too :)

Vindicator 02-22-2009 09:31 PM

Next issue :)

The uploads column on the home page is showing double the actual. If I have one image/media file it shows "2" uploads. If I have two it shows "4" uploads.

Also, the Gallery statistics at the bottom are blank. They were working but no they are not!?

Vindicator 02-22-2009 10:20 PM

I'm going to reinstall, it's just not working right. I can no longer administer any categories, images etc etc. I've checked permissions but something is off. When I go to Administration - Categories it opens and shows the public categories. At the top however it says Private categories (which I have disabled for everyone). All it will let me do is edit existing categories, from the admincp or anywhere. Have tried reinstalling the product, but no change. :-(

Just reading through all the posts here to find any answers.

Vindicator 02-22-2009 10:52 PM

Wow, I've messed with this for a few hours and it's seems to be just full of bugs on my site.

1. Statistics at the bottom of the page works 5-10% of the time
2. Administer (add specifically) Categories function is intermittent to never working.
3. Some media files (wmv for sure) don't expand to the full size of the window so appear squashed.

I'm happy to work with you Coroner to resolve these issues, because I really like this product. Right now though, I can't let me users loose on it.

Is the Pro version any more stable, because it's worth the €44 if it works!

Vindicator 02-22-2009 11:37 PM

Ok - Quick update.

Issue 1 is persisting
Issue 2 is resolved after a 3rd Uninstall/Install of the Product XML.
Issue 3 appears to be related to my PC setup. Tried on my laptop and it worked fine.

yotsume 02-22-2009 11:54 PM

Can this gallery mod handle flv and other videos that we host on our own server?

It looks pretty good except the main index has the thumbnails off to the right of the cat names. Would be nicer to have the thumbs just in ront of the cat names on the left.

Vindicator 02-23-2009 12:31 AM

Yes, it handles FLV files and many others. It includes and upload manager so the files can be uploaded to your own server.

The thumbnail is on the right as it relates to the "latest file" in that category. It sticks with the vBulletin format in that respect. Might be nice to have a category image too though.

I like it, I would recommend it! (even with the little issues I have with it)

Chadi 02-23-2009 12:53 AM

The vgallery converter is still not working.

Your OP says:

[edit: 26.1.2009]
Fix a bug in Installation. You need to uninstall, then reinstall with this new product, only if you haven't any Mediatypes or UMG Permissions (see in you AdminCP -> UMG)
Added: vBgallery2umg.php (a converter for vBgallery) - it's not 100% testing, so it's in Beta Stage.

[edit: 28.1.2009]
added vBgallery2.0 to UMG converter.
Fixed the complete Editor and changed the Categorydisplay.
Files to upgrade:
All php files, the folder clientscript and overwrite the product.
First, there are no file names with vBgallery2umg.php

There are:
vbgallery20_2_umg.php (gives database error on 'submit')

Code:

Database error in vBulletin 3.8.1:

  Invalid SQL:
  ALTER TABLE adv_gallery_categories ADD `umgid` INT(11) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0';

vbgallery_2_umg.php (shows no errors, proceeds all the way through)

However, still no pictures, stats, comments, etc. The importer went all the way through with the steps up to category import:

vBgallery 2 UMG
Public Gallery
Art
Church
Families & Friends
Members
Miscellaneous
Pets
Scenary

(Link was: http://www.talkjesus.com/vbgallery_2_umg.php?do=finish)

See live example:

I'm using PhotoPost vBGallery v2.2.

Coroner 02-23-2009 03:29 AM

@vindicator:
The PRO is unofficially at v1.4.7 and I have no problems.
Categoryimage is planed in the future.

@chadi:
It's not easy to support this. Maybe we have to talk over PM about that.

Regs 02-23-2009 04:57 AM

Could the issues chadi is having with the converter have something to do with this lite version only allowing 5 categories? (I think that's the limit)

It seems chadi is trying to convert more than 5 categories?

Coroner 02-23-2009 08:22 AM

No, the converter will convert ALL categories from another gallery.
That can't be the thing.

Hope that I'll hear from him via PM. I think it's better to take a look myself whats goin' wrong.

c4gamerz 02-23-2009 01:32 PM

have just installed umg lite version but its not working here it shows

Code:

Content Encoding Error

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

why i am getting this error? i have properly setup permissions for usergroups etc but still i am getting this error.

Coroner 02-23-2009 01:42 PM

I don't know why you're gettin' this error. What are you calling ?
You need to open it with: umg.php

vbgallery_2_umg.php
get it's informations from the database "ppgal_"
vbgallery20_2_umg.php
get's it's informations from the database "adv_gallery_"

Chadi 02-23-2009 03:24 PM

Bingo. I think I found the problem. I'm not using database as file storage method for vbgallery. I'm using file storage instead.

Can you possibly modify your importer tool for such?

As a matter of fact, it would be nice if you can add that feature to your own mod as well. It lightens the load on the database queries in the end for larger sites.

I'll pm you a screenshot of my file structure for vbgallery. Its sort of complex.

NO. Upload the Video via UMG

Ummm I highly suggest you include the ability to import from URL because there will be many people who will experience timeouts and failed uploads on larger video uploads.

I would rather FTP upload a 600 MB video first on my own and then use this mod to import from URL. Wouldn't that help to bypass timeouts?

Coroner 02-24-2009 11:41 AM

The UMG can't import an existing file (not yet) but in a further version ....

Vindicator 02-24-2009 09:16 PM

also would be great if video's had a thumbnail generated frm the media itself?

Possible - probably
Easy - probably not

Regs 02-24-2009 09:21 PM

You can't generate a thumbnail from a video w/o the use of ffmpeg/mencoder installed on your server.

So you are spot on with your possible/not easy statement :D

I'm willing :-) Maybe too much for the Lite version.....

So, the PRO v1.4.7 can do it now.
You can upload any supported type of media onto you server (forum) and insert into the UMG by a link.

Chadi 02-25-2009 11:21 PM

Can you please add Tangle.com (formerly Godtube.com)? Thanks.

Is it possible to rename the main umg.php to something else to make it more unique?

Also, what is the difference between this free version and pro? Your site is in German(?) who I have no idea what it says :)

Feature Request for Video Media:

(see this mod: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=200819)

Ability to automatically fill in Title, Tags, Time, Video Description just like above video mod.

Coroner 02-26-2009 03:34 AM

1 Attachment(s)
My site uses both languages (german and english).
There are a lot of differences between Pro and Lite.

For Tangle.com simply unzip the attached file and upload tangle.php into umg_gallery/media_sides

Regards

Chadi 02-26-2009 04:04 AM

Thanks for the Tangle :)

Chadi 02-27-2009 04:58 PM

NOTE: i'm posting this in both mods' threads to see who's willing to proceed with this, hopefully.

I've been wanting to have one mod that can do the following, all in one and I'm willing to donate to whomever will accomplish this task. I'll gladly donate $100 via Paypal. I think others should donate too to get this "Vb media center" into fruition.

All in one Media Center Mod:

video feature
  1. online media, url based (youtube, google, etc)
    - auto insert tags, title, time, video description
  2. member uploaded videos
  3. video resize (retain aspect) on admin side
  4. ability to auto place all video submissions (custom or url based) into moderation queue first
Photo feature
  1. full member photo gallery, member uploads
  2. online image media support (photobucket, etc) url based
  3. highslide or alike javascript effect for viewing photos
  4. slideshow ability: random, member album only, all photos
  5. public or private member gallery, w/ custom permissions (allow only buddies, etc.)
Audio feature
  1. custom member uploads
  2. url based (sermonindex.net, imeem, etc)
  3. built in player (inline), with style customization possible
  4. full audio support (mp3, wav, rm, etc)
Misc features
  1. mod home page: latest, top, random, most commented, featured sections
  2. ability to leave comments on all areas (video, audio, photos)
  3. ability to leave ratings
  4. member playlists creation (all areas, video, audio, photos)
  5. who's currently viewing this [video, image, mp3]
  6. who's active in directory
  7. duplicate url [video, mp3, image] prevention (obvious, this applies to url based submissions)
  8. ajax feature to avoid page refresh: comments, ratings, photo slideshow, etc.
  9. global tag cloud
  10. member profile showing statistics for uploads/submissions/playlists
  11. importer (vbgallery, etc)
So the above is practically a hybrid of these two mods:

Preparation*
If "safe_mode" is ON

Open the file umg_ftp.php and enter your FTP data.
The path $ftp_xtra = ''; must stay at "httpdocs" on my server.
Therefor it will try to create the folders per FTP (this will done only 1x time each User) if he tries to upload something into his private gallery.
How do I know if Safe_mode is on or not

Coroner 03-01-2009 04:41 AM

the simplest way is, to take a look at your php.ini.

Another option is, open "umg_ftp.php" and chage "password" in "" or "username" in "".
When uploading a media and safe_mode is on, you will get a message, that umg_ftp needs to filled correctely.

Saint_I_Am 03-01-2009 05:19 AM

seems safe mode is off as I uploaded an image and didn't get a message :)

Saint_I_Am 03-01-2009 06:17 AM

Me again

I get this error message when running the photopost converter

Code:

Warning: require_once([path]/pp/config-inc.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/photopost_2_umg.php on line 28

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/******/public_html/3.8test/pp/config-inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/******/public_html/3.8test/photopost_2_umg.php on line 28

Do I need to edit the photopost_2_umg.php file? I uploaded it to the root
