great mod. i've been actually searching for this mod and i have finally found it :) cheers
|
Is there a way to make the take over message stand out more? Maybe the take over message can be set with a different color, thick border, flashing border, etc.?
|
You can make it stand out tons more... if you edit the error page. :D
My suggestion is to work on the phrase that shows up and give that colors, images and flare as you see fit. |
Awesome mod thanks, installed. :)

I hope this help some people outhere ! Waiting for some feedback :) |
Hey Ted,
Is there any way that this mod could tie into the "who's online" page which shows what everyone is doing? I currently list my guests on this page as well, but I have no way of telling which users are viewing the forced registration message. It just shows them viewing the thread. Thanks |
Probably possible. I'll look at the code next week.

I'll be standing by and awaiting your response. |
Im viewing this in the product brief:

Also interested in hearing about that last question tying into "who's online" Thanks:D |
compatibility, no. The issue listed is collision in which someone could have two messages showing (i.e. a notice and an lgv message) but that's a setting item, not something that will stop anything from running.
|
I am a little confused by this part:

:( edit: I set it to 2 to test it and I cannot make it work. I have edit the navbar. Is it because it knows MY cookie as the admin? I am logged out and viewing on a different browser Does having a "notice" on doing anything to impact this? |
block page and the other page (take over) messages haven't appeared yet :(
i edited navbar. uploaded cron file and imported the xml. what's the problem? any idea? |

I have been looking at this mod for a while now. I was wondering how many of the new members gained by this mod are actually active in the forums? Have you notice an increase of inactive uses in proportion to new users?
|
very nice
thanx |
Is this the hack that doesn't work well with welcome headers, or was it the old version of welcome headers that had problems with this?
I'm using the 3.8 version (notices) of welcome headers... |

OK thanks, I must have misunderstood the instructions where it says:
As a general rule, anyone not using the limited guest viewing system and not planning to do advanced changes is likely best of migrating to the notices system and to this version of the addon. |
As it says you are best off not using this version and limited guest viewing however you certainly can. The issue is that notices are global and may appear on a page where you have limited guest viewing messages as well. This doesn't break anything -- it's just less ideal for your users.
Using the older version of this addon the two do not run at the same time. |
Thank you Ted...works like a charm!
|
When we try to use this it causes our forum database to crash.
I keep getting database errors that seem to suggest a missing table. I'm not sure if I'm reading it right, but here is what it says: Quote:
How should we troubleshoot this? |
Remove the addon. Manually create the table found in the xml file. Reinstall.
|
Installed and testing!! thank you for your work!!
|
Installed. Working :D
