The Real IP Address is: 12.13.14.15
12.13.14.15 The Proxy Server IP Address is: 207.34.157.x h8.157.34.20x.cable.mset.cablerocket.net Had this off one user.. interesting |
I installed it,,, but how I can manage it OR how I can see the real IP ?
thank u |
I messed something up.
When I did the edits and then uploaded the product, I lost my custom image header, colours reverted, some buttons like the who's online, etc show as text. Basically, something is jacked up. I undid the edits and deleted the product but it hasn't reverted. Any ideas? |
Not really. Its hard to see how this could affect any of those things.
thx Paul installed
Installed, made the changes to class_core.php and now every ip post icon shows as the proxy icon and every ip is listed as; The Proxy Server IP Address is: PROXYIP.
Either, you havent made the changes properly, or you havent uploaded them, or the changed code is not running - what you describe is what happens when the plugin is running but the class_core changes are not.

Hello Paul,
does an update come for vB4? |
Hi.
My forum is version 3.7.3. I use version 3.7.003 of your modification. Is there a significant difference between that version and 3.8.001? In other words, is it worth the update if you already have the former? Also, version 3.8.001 says it has a dependency of 3.8 minimum. I was wondering if this really means that the modification won't work or is likely to have problems with the version of vBulletin I am using, or if it just means no support for anything lower than vBulletin 3.8? Regards, Kevin |
There is no significant difference between the 3.7 & 3.8 versions.
I installed it on my system, I still receive the proxy IP and not the real IP user's
Problem... I have a style that uses PNGs. So now my IP image is not displaying because it's broken.
Edit the postbit_proxyip template for your png image.
sweet.
is there a way to automatically ban them if a proxy is detected?
No - and that would be a very bad thing to do.
thanx :-)

Trolls are unlikely to use a proxy server that is detectable.
Thanks for the awesome work Paul! Installed*

thank you

You are correct, however, its not a case of the proxy will be detected - but only if it is detected, and it passes on the original ip. Annonymouse proxy servers (quite obviously) do not do this.

Also you mentioned somewhere that the mod does log the proxy IP to a hidden field, but then doesn't do anything with it. Where is this hidden field? If a member is logged on my forums with a LAN IP then I will need to check the proxy IP that was logged to do further checks. |
You view it by viewing the ip screen in the postbit.
Will this still work with 3.8.5 (Since I think there were changes to class_core.php) Just wanted to double check before I upgrade.
The minor change to class core has no effect on this.
cool. Thanks Paul.
Nice Thanks.
still cannot get this to work , keeps showing proxyip.. Product is imported and class_core edited, all it does it display the real ip and outputs proxy ip as "PROXYIP".
Anything i need to enable on my server? |
If you have done the edits correctly, and installed the product, it should work fine.
Bear in mind however that it wont fix old posts that say proxip, it will only work on new posts. |
Does this reveal both proxy address and real address on registration - or just when the user posts? :)
If it detects a real address it will store it as the registration ip.
Thanks Paul - so it doesn't store both?
Nope. It only stores both for posts.
Installed
Trying to install this on large forum with over 5m posts, product installation seems to be taking a long time as it does "Adding Column to Post Table" if this process fails due to timeout will it corrupt the database at all? Also if I want to remove the plugin will it remove the columns?
