Hi Paul, just to ask, how would I make it so that from my vBAdvanced portal wouldn't result in a 404 when the 'new posts' is clicked?

IE:

The forum is at mysite.com/forum and the vBAdvanced is at mysite.com and when someone clicks the 'new posts' button from the portal, it's looking for mysite.com/search.php when the correct path would be mysite.com/forum/search.php

So, What template\phrase do I need to edit for this to change to go to the correct place?

Any thoughts?

No idea tbh, would need admin accss to see what was happening.

Edit the Links Path setting in the options.

No worries. It wasn't your addon that caused the issue. My bad.. ;)

Stormraven 05-01-2009 10:14 PM

Thankyou paul, everything seems to be working fine now :)

greenspan 05-02-2009 04:37 PM

I installed this module. Thanks.

mikey1991 05-03-2009 02:27 PM

Thanks Paul, Helped alot.. wasn't too sure what to do with that feature.

lowey 05-04-2009 12:54 PM

Is there a way to disable the automatic insertion of the unread-messages-link into the welcomebox?

I want to place it somehwere else and I tried placing $unread in combination with the Disable Unread Posts Display-setting. But this also renders the variable useless. Any clues?

Thanks! :)

Edit: OK, found it in the Unread Posts and Reputation (2)-plugin. Thanks anyway! :D

I read about something with the dup_posts phrase, but I don't see anything wrong with it... this is what it is:
Code:

You Have <strong>{1} <a href="{3}search.php?do=getnew">Unread {2}</a></strong>
What else could be the problem?

Okay, uninstalling and re-installing got rid of this ARG UNDEFINED issue...

But now I have a new problem: Rather than the welcome box saying how many unread posts I have, it says "Display Unread Posts" where the Unread Posts part is the link to the getnew page.

All of the phrases are un-modified. Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks. I love this mod and hope to get it working properly ;)

See the "Maximum Cutoff Limit" setting in the options ;

Quote:

Sets the maximum number of days that posts will be counted for, if the cutoff exceeds this then just an unread posts link will be displayed. This can save running large sql queries if members have not visited in a long time. Set to zero to disable this feature.

Sorry, but what help exactly do you want ?

I cannot just magically tell you what is wrong.

I assume you have read/followed all the notes ?

TheeMadame 05-16-2009 02:57 PM

Installed easy.
Like this one very much, TY. :up:

jgommel 05-17-2009 02:46 AM

There seems to be some sorta conflict between Photopost vBGallery and this mod. With this mod enabled, my users can no longer use the Prev and Next image button/links within Photopost vBGallery. They keep getting this message, "No Image specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator". I disabled all my hook by placing the following code at the top of the vBulletin config.php file; define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

I confirmed that the issue was with one of my installed mods, so I systematically disabled one mod at a time until I found out that this mod is causing the Prev / Next image links to break.

Any ideas?

Paul M 05-17-2009 09:56 AM

Sorry, no idea, I dont have or use Photopost.

If your interested, I could give you access to the site in order to work this out? My user's really like this mod. I haven't found any other mod like this (that worked so well). Thanks in advance.

Paul M 05-17-2009 06:08 PM

Feel free to PM me access details, I'll look sometime this week if I get chance.

I can“t find:
vBulletin Options > General Settings > Thread/Forum Read Marking Type
Can you explain me what the "Thread/Forum Read Marking Type" includes? Because I have a German version...

I have no idea what the German translation would be, but its a standard vb setting, so it must be there.

Kolbi 05-17-2009 08:03 PM

What can you change in these settings?

islamicvd 05-18-2009 06:21 PM

Hi there...

Well, After I upgraded my forum version from 3.7 to 3.8, I've got problems with this feature. It wasn't showing the forum page properly.

Now I have installed the newest version of this hack for 3.8 VB release but I still have problem.
Namely, when I click the '#number unread posts/comments' I'm redirected to URL: http://myforum.org/forum/search.php?do=getnew[ARG:4%20UNDEFINED] - and it shows blank page.

So, I think I've missed something or... Can you please help me.

Thank you in Advance!

Paul M 05-18-2009 07:59 PM

You have customised the phrases at some point, you need to revert them.

islamicvd 05-19-2009 04:55 PM

Which phrases? Can you give me an example please.

Thanks

Nice find, as I am having the same problem as you. :)

EagleNick 05-23-2009 09:31 PM

Where can I modify the link that clicking "Unread Posts" takes you to, as when I am in my vBAdvanced Links Direcotry, the target of this link is http://www.adminaddict.com/directory/search.php?do=getnew instead of directory being replaced with forum.

Paul M 05-23-2009 09:42 PM

Set the "Links Prefix Path" .

EagleNick 05-24-2009 09:53 PM

This doesn't resolve my issue.

With the Links Prefix Path left blank, here is the scenario:
When viewing the forum, the Unread Posts link takes you to: http://www.adminaddict.com/forum/search.php?do=getnew - which is exactly what it should be.

When viewing the directory, the Unread Posts link takes you to: http://www.adminaddict.com/directory/search.php?do=getnew - which is not a valid URL.

I'm assuming the reason is because the Unread Posts link is coded as <a href="search.php?do=getnew"> rather than <a href="BBURL/search.php?do=getnew">. So I'd like to know how to fix this.

Thanks.

Paul M 05-24-2009 09:56 PM

I just told you how to fix it.

Paul, it would not kill you to answer just a little more.

EagleNick, if your forum is installed in folder named forum, try to write in field Links Prefix Path: /forum/

Paul M 05-25-2009 09:18 AM

The option description says it all.

Links Prefix Path

Quote:

The path that will prefix search.php or usercp.php in the links, if you use a CMS then you may need to set this to something like /pathtoforum/ - otherwise just leave this blank.
As far as I can see from the reply he didnt even look or try it.

Sunka 05-25-2009 09:53 AM

Yes, but many people are new to all that stuff, I am too. So, explanation in details stop more posts with same questions. I not meaning anything bad...

Any update on this? I've run into the same issue since upgrading to vB 3.8 and vBG 2.5.

Paul M 06-03-2009 02:30 PM

Nope. As I said before, I dont have or use Photopost, therefore there is nothing I can look at.

Metal-R-US 06-03-2009 02:34 PM

Nevermind, I found a fix at the Photopost forums...

Paul M 06-03-2009 04:33 PM

How about sharing it then ?

cagbaazee 06-03-2009 05:46 PM

From the Photopost vBGallery site:
Quote:

Line 137 in showimage.php delete the code in bold

Code:

// Previous link, Next link, Filmstrip
if ($goto == 'next' OR $goto == 'previous' OR $ppg_options['gallery_filmstrip'])
{

        if ($userid)
        {
                $wherequery[] = 'userid = ' . $userid;
        }
