i have a problem .
I managed to install this hack . It is easy . Although i can not find this plugin . In Vbulletin options in Admin panel , i can not see all the options as in attached picture. I only can see the options for shape and color , nothing else.
Can anyone help me please? I am sorry if my question is stupid but i am not so good in all these.

You have not followed Step 4 of the instructions, as most of the options are usergroup permissions.

grafbyte 09-08-2009 09:08 PM

nice ! thx

Mr_Candy 09-13-2009 01:28 AM

Nothing shows up in the usergroup permissions. I am using Version 3.8.4.

The options for the upload do show up. Just usergroup doesn't show up.

I suspect you have either not followed Step 1 of the instructions, or have followed Step 1, but uploaded the file to the wrong location, as it shows up fine in well over 200 installations of this hack.

If that is not the case after you have checked, let me know.

Sorry about that, it was my fault. I did skip step 1. My bad, thanks

Can this mod host an image from a URL? Or does the file need to first reside locally?

If you don't have a megaupload premium account, then leave the setting alone.

Read the first post for more information.

You can change the upload website if you want to, but you would have to work out how to do it yourself. As you will see if read this thread and and the earlier versions of this hack, a lot of sites that have been requested to not have an iframe or api to enable doing so.

Sorry, but I do not help with custom alterations to my hacks for free.

You will either have to do it yourself or if you want me to do it, you will need to submit a paid work request (see first post for more information).

ok am gonna do it but can you tell me how or from where should i edit ,, and i'll try

Ideally I'd like to find a mod which automatically hosts image files from within a post's image tags. As an example, in my board we post news articles. The news servers might move their images later which causes broken image links. If we could auto-host images then our copy of the news stories would be static. I suppose this ideal mod in question would, upon submitting a posting, see an image tag within the post (either the standard IMG or a special BBcode imag tag designed for this auto-hosting process), go fetch the remote file and host it automatically, and substitute the remote original URL with the new forum's hosting URL. Having it watermark the acquired image would be a plus.

It's a lot of trouble having to first manually download an image and then upload it into a hosting service. Any suggestions appreciated.

It is possible, but I have not seen anything like that here.

You may want to look at Links and Downloads Manager or DownloadsII, as they some elements that you are asking about, but not all of them.

Something I've noticed with this modification. It takes forever and a day for the Imagshack buttons to show up at the bottom of a thread, if they show up at all. This increases the response time for the browsers to render a page, and at times, has created small issues with my users.

Obviously, this is an issue with the Imageshack servers (most likely high use). How difficult would it be to create the forms locally, including the buttons/images? This way, the actual "connection" to Imageshack wouldn't be needed unless the user wanted to actually upload a file.

Unfortunately not as easy as you think. For instance, with Imageshack, they do have a XML API. First thing you have to do is get and api key, to get that key you have to justify why you want the key and they may or may not issue it to you (you need to specify the number of unique visitors to your site per day and include a description of how you intend to use the ImageShack XML API). And that is even before you begin to be able to develop a form to use the API. See http://code.google.com/p/imageshacka.../ImageshackAPI for more information.

It is just a lot easier to use the embedded form method. If I was doing a paid request for a client and they wanted to go the API way, then I would. But as I have limited free time on my hands and I am releasing this for free, this hack is likely to stay with the embedded form method.

Understood. Was pretty much thinking out loud and wondering if it could easily be done. Thanks for the reply. :)

If that is the case, and you have followed the instructions to the letter and it has nothing to do with manually edited templates (because the auto-template insertion did not work), then the only way I can help you is to look at your installation.

[s]If you want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, a temporary Administrator user (with the following administrator permissions - Can Administer Settings for editing options, Can Administer Styles for editing templates, Can Administer Language Settings for editing phrases, Can Administer User Permissions for editing Usergroup permissions and finally Can Administer Plugins for editing products and plugins), and ftp access details (with appropriate permissions).

Without these I can not help you any further. You can revoke these after I have helped you out.

I will look when I have time, and even if I have a look, I can not guarantee that I will be able to fix it, so it is up to you what you want to do.[/s]

I had a look at your installation and the problem was that you uploaded the .xml files from Steps 1 - 3 to /httpdocs/includes/xml which is the wrong location (in your case), instead of /httpdocs/forums/includes/xml and that is why the Megaupload and Photobucket did not work.

It is now all fixed up. Enjoy :)

the only thing is the links are not showing up in 'reply' to private message, only in the quick reply ... are they supposed to show there too?

No, not at the moment.

I have not yet added that to the hack..... to be honest, I forgot about it :o

I will probably add it in next week, as I have an exam at the end of this week.

Mosh, just wanted to let you know. I uninstalled this and when I attempted to update a usergroup, I received the following database error:

Quote:

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'ms_imageshack_upload_permissions' in 'field list'
I installed and uninstalled the new version, but I keep getting this error when updating something in a usergroup. Help?

It seems even after the uninstall, this line sticks around 'ms_imageshack_upload_permissions` = '0','

That error message indicates you have not done Step 1 of the Uninstall Instructions. Check all four steps have been completed.
