I dont think its suppose to do this, but when you click on that Amazon Thumbnail, it takes you to a page saying: No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator I figured it would make the image larger or just redirect me to the page they got it from. |

For those having the linking problem with Amazon (Thumbnails), I have a temporary fix for you until the variable problem in AME can be pinpointed. It will not convert titles properly and will just read Amazon (Thumbnails) or whatever you've named it in the AME CP, but it will properly convert your URLs.
NOTE: If you need to add your own affiliate ID tag you must go in and change each instance of ?tag=citofgamonlco-20 to your own affiliate ID. There are three. If not, you won't hurt my feelings leaving it in. ;) Oh, remember to delete your old one. |
it worked for me.... almost ;)
it worked in the sense that it made a link properly, like this: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPod-cla...fullmailbox-20 but... if i went to say, the first page of slickdeals.net, and got this link from them: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance if i posted that link on my site, it would convert to: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...fullmailbox-20 which takes me to the main page of amazon, having removed the asin number. i'm keeping this definition active for now, but any ideas on that will be appreciated. (and yes, i realize it says 'temp fix', im just trying to troubleshoot) thanks for the rapid reply and fix DJ :D |
See if using this as your Replacement HTML helps at all. It shouldn't be stripping out the ASIN number.
HTML Code:
<div align="center"> |
okay replaced the html and its still giving me this:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...fullmailbox-20 :( to clarify, this is the type of link that is giving me trouble: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance |
Dailymotion videos doesn't work sir :(

Hi guys, just a little status update for you. Looking through my PMs, it looks like I've let a lot of requests fall by the wayside. This is because support for this thread, my other threads and my other web work is continually getting more demanding.
Over the course of this week, I'm going to be going through my PMs thoroughly to make sure I address any questions I may have overlooked. As a result of this, I'm going to ask that any future requests, questions or comments be made through my two respective threads, unless we're dealing with some private information. As it stands, I've just let things get out of hand, and I find I'm forgetting PMs much more easily then I used to. The linear nature of a thread, though, is much harder to ignore or forget, and way easier to search. This will make it easier for me to keep track of things, and I'll be able to put things on a rough, but clearer schedule then I had before. In short, this will make support better. I appreciate your patience and will get back to you soon. |
You might want to add words like "no support via pm or email" to your signature and the first post of your threads. I have seen other mod authors doing this. I think it will help reducing your pm amount.

Jedi, is 2.5 RC1 stable enougth for production site? I plan to recheck my definitions & add new ones for 2.5. But still don't know, does it worth to upgrade right now.

im running 2.5 on our live site with no problems aside from the amazon link problem. its fantastic aside from that
|
Great work! Just one question though. I'm using VB 3.8 RC1, and the IGN definition is causing an error. Any suggestions for a fix?
Code:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/public_html/forum/includes/ame_bbcode.php(801) : eval()'d code on line 1 |
Digital Jedi: wouldn't be easier and less time consuming for you to stick to only one version (usually latest) ? I mean, it must be a killer job to go back to 2.x then 2.5 and so on. I think we could manage to love one version only, one big definition file, easier to track bugs... Just my 50 cents :)

I've not had a chance to check to be sure, but that's likely the problem. Quote:
The hardest part is over now that I've gone through the main list. The only thing I need to do now is when I make a set of definitions, to import the new set to my demo board and export them again with the $ameinfo variables instead of the usual height and width parameters. An extra step, but not an egregious one. |
does this allow you to upload .avi files or .mov files on forum for other to see
|
This, by it self does nothing, per se. First you need AME. Then to expand what AME can do (which is how it was designed) you need these media definitions.
But AME is not an uploader, it's an embeder. So if you've uploaded .MOV files to your server, you can use the QuickTime definitions in my other thread (I'll be adding one to this thread sometime this week) to embed them in posts. |
DJ, any update on the amazon links? i've had 3 requests in the last few days :(
|
Great work!!!
Is there something you can post here that will fix the myspace issue? I don't mind going into the code and fixing it....just give me how to...LOL |
The Embed Code needs to be replaced with the current code their using. Previously, it was just a iframe with a video player in it. Now it used the standard object tags, etc.

Oh...so it is something you have to recode? |

I had the notation in the old thread, I just apparently missed copying that section over. |
Yes thank you, worked fine now :)
Now I'm just missing getting AME working in custom profile fields too, but I guess this would be Geeks job =) |
Hey DJ -
Wonderful work on these definitions and organizing them so nicely. I know there has been an issue with Daily Motion not working before in this thread, but I tried importing the updated definition and my links still do not pull the video. It looks like ti calls the container, just nothing from the Daily Motion comes in. Not a big deal, but is this a known issue still or is there another fix I'm not aware of? Thanks again, |
This is awsome dude ;)
Thank you,, Excellent |
I think you really can remove this Deezer from this xml file, .. their audio embedding is a joke, they only play the first 10 seconds of a song...
And this BooMP3 ... lol ... seems they don't have any audiofiles uploaded, very strange site ... I mean, 160+ supported sites sounds great, but would be nice if the sites in this xml has been tested before, just to increase the quality and the usefulness of the xml :) |

For Deezer, make sure your not actually embedding 10 second preview clips. Test these songs, as they're playing completely for me: http://www.deezer.com/track/71789 http://www.deezer.com/track/546343 For BooMp3, they have thousands of songs listed in dozens of languages. I remember because I struggled with them for months trying find a way to get the RegEx to match Cyrillic, Japanese and Chinese foreign language characters. They're media player is just down for the moment, probably due to maintenance. Remember, media sites are the most fluid of any sites out there. I can make a definition for a site today, and tomorrow they can completely changed their URL structure, their embed code or their domain name. YouTube goes down almost weekly for maintenance, and their embed code stops working during that time. EA Sports World changed their embed code the day after I first released it. Daily Motion keeps finding new characters to put in their URLs, so the RegEx frequently has to be updated to match. That fluidity, means things aren't always going to be working quite right at a given moment, but the installed users here do a pretty job of keeping me up to date on that. A whole lot of the time, though, we're just looking at user error, regional viewing issues or a site that's just doing some work in the meantime. |

I swear they did yesterday, or have I messed something up? :o See here Thank you for a great Mod  VJ |
