Hello Logician,
I am trying to find a way of displaying a row number with each row of an advanced webquery.
I can't see a way of doing this already.
How difficult would it be to add a row number to view.php which is available to each row of the webquery?

Dugchugger 08-20-2008 04:41 PM

Installed and nominated. AWESOME proggie... it not only saved me countless hours of trying to figure out how to do all this stuff, but it also gave me ideas and lit a fire under me for setting up the Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and more! Thanks for all your hard work in making this available to us and keeping it up to date as new versions of vB come out. You are my hero. :)

You can do it. Just add "$queryqueryresult" variable to your Query Result Row of your webquery. It will automatically number lines.

Awesome, thank you!
http://www.avforums.com/forums/view_hot_threads.htm

One question - the data in that page shows the number of views of popular threads. When I click on the thread to visit it and then go back and refresh the data, the number of views does not go up. Is the data cached?

Your vb setting "Update Thread Views Immediately" decides this. Apparently you set it as no, so it is updated peridocally with a vb cron.

Excellent mod ! Very powerful !

I've got a simple question. On the page generated by this mod, the copyright notice at the bottom looks like : Powered by: vBulletin Version 3.7.2 & Logician's WebTemplates v.3.7.00
There is also a button for donation.

Is there is a branding free version ? I dont like to delete copyright but i have so many mods installed that every page got a different one ... so now i look for mod where we can get rid off copyright and just put a note on a special copyright page.

Regards
Greg

I appreciate if you keep the copyright notice. It is even linkless and I believe one line of copyright notice for a free powerful mod is a good deal. ;) However I send copyright removal instructions to all hack donators regardless of the amount they donated. (Except one interesting guy who sent 0.01 USD and I sent him a refund instead of instructions.) :rolleyes:

saltedm8 08-21-2008 02:13 PM

that was suppose to be $10.00, but I must have made a typo... I still intend on sending it, just need to get the money back into the account lol, sorry ( well it was late at night )

( it does say ANY amount anyway rofl *kidding* ) i think the work on it definitely deserves a donation

ANY amount was really fine but when you get 0.01, you think somebody is making fun of you and taking your time for nothing. Thanks for explaination, I didn't think it was a mistake until your message. Let me know your email and I can send you the instructions, it is np.

saltedm8 08-21-2008 02:54 PM

tbh... I am a web designer myself and I am also the lead administrator of a top web design forum ( around 45'000 members ) ... if I wanted to remove it i could have, I just think the mod is worth a donation...

thanks anyway lol

Do you mean hack links in the admin cp? Please make sure you uploaded forum/includes/xml/cpnav_webtemplates.xml file to the correct folder.

BarryoBrien 08-22-2008 08:59 AM

That was it must have over looked it thanks. "nominated" Can this cms be adapted to show tutorials having a seperate 2 colum theme and having categories css, php etc.? if so have any solutions to help me set it up?

i156 08-24-2008 02:54 PM

Is it going to be possible for me to embed code like this within my pages?

Quote:

<script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
<div id="flashcontent">This text is replaced by the Flash movie.
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
var flashvars = { active_state: "fl" };
swfobject.embedSWF("/statelaws.swf", "flashcontent", "640", "950", "8.0.0", "", flashvars);
// --></script>
Currently it isn't working but if I could get this working I can basically get rid of Joomla and go with vBulletin 100% on my site!

It should work fine inside a html webtemplate.

I got it working. I didn't have some needed files in the forums root. Thanks! This is a great mod and with this working I'll be off of Joomla by the end of the day!

Firstly,
I?m trying to make a page with the last 30 threads showing forum-thread-user-date and succeeded. Almost.
The problem arises when I click on the forum name rather than the specific thread and I get
directed to the same forum (forum id7) every time. I?ve read through the posts on many versions of the mod and find nothing that resembles this. I should be grateful for any ideas/help.

Code:

SELECT thread.threadid AS threadid, thread.title AS title, thread.postusername AS postusername, thread.postuserid AS postuserid, thread.dateline AS dateline, forum.title AS ftitle, thread.forumid
FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "thread thread LEFT JOIN " . TABLE_PREFIX . "forum forum ON thread.forumid= forum.forumid
WHERE thread.sticky=0 AND thread.visible=1
ORDER BY dateline DESC
LIMIT 30

and lastl but not least: thank you Logician for this.
It?s so versatile and such a lot of fun to play around with. :)

What's your query result row? If you use $WQfield[forumid] there, it should work fine.

siddal 08-27-2008 08:49 AM

Thank you for your quick reply, Logician.

Code:

<tr align="center">
 <td class="$alternate" align="left" WIDTH="25%" VALIGN="TOP"><div class="normalfont"><a href='forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]t=$WQfield[forumid]'>$WQfield[ftitle]</a></div></td>
 <td class="$alternate" align="left"  WIDTH="50%" VALIGN="TOP"><div class="normalfont"><a href='showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]t=$WQfield[threadid]'>$WQfield[title]</a></div></td>
 <td class="$alternate" WIDTH="10%" VALIGN="TOP"><div class="normalfont"><a href='member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$WQfield[postuserid]'>$WQfield[postusername]</a></div></td>
 <td class="$alternate" WIDTH="15%" VALIGN="TOP"><div style="font-size: 8pt; line-height: 10px;">$WQfield[dateline]</div></td>
</tr>

This is my query result row showing the $WQfield[forumid] but still I?m being directed to the same forum whichever forum I click on..

Interestingly, when I click a forum from the forum/index.php page I get this:
http://mysite/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=6

but when I click the same forum from the query page I get this:
http://mysite/forum/forumdisplay.php?t=6

Only the tiniest difference but enough to fool me, I?m afraid. :confused:

Actually you already found why: forumdisplay.php should take f parameter, not t parameter, so if you fix this in your query you are good to go:

HTML Code:

<a href='forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$WQfield[forumid]'>$WQfield[ftitle]</a>

siddal 08-27-2008 10:51 AM

Fixed! :)
Thank you Logician for your prompt help and this terrific piece of work.
I?ve sent a small donation via the template in my acp.

Here's how it shows.... http://www.waltdisneyboards.com/view.php?pg=wdbhub and the attachment is how it should show.

Seems to have a huge space at the top (is this because a graphic is missing or am I doing something wrong?) and things shifted around just a bit.

Can anyone lend a hand to see if what I can do to fix it?

Thanks!

If you make it a "standalone" webtemplate which does NOT use a theme, it will show up fine but without your vb header/footer. (Also remember to make image URLs full urls or move images to your server otherwise images will be broken as source code can't find them in your server).

If you want to insert it inside a webtemplate theme which will display it between your header/footer you can't paste it as it is, you have to edit it to fit to your style. (which should require HTML knowledge).

ArnyVee 08-29-2008 12:15 PM

Logician, how do I make it a 'standalone' webtemplate?

Edited: I guess I would simply select "no parent template", is that right?

I was originally going to keep some elements of the forums, but I think for this particular one, I just want to use a full template that I find.

Okay, so I have the 'skeleton' done and now just to continue to add the 'meat' to it :D

How can I 'pull' the recent threads from my forums to add into this page? (to replace the bulleted list under the first section - TheWDBoards)

mmoore5553 08-29-2008 03:33 PM

okay thinking about using this and wondering ...

i have shopping cart software

http://cg-hq.com/dlg/cart/

is there a way to intergrate that page into vbulletin that way i have a the same header and footer and color scheme or is there a way to create the header footer on this page ? i still need to keep function of the cart software

would this be what i am needing ?

here is some more info to help

The shopping cart uses a simply HTML based template.

Modify the Cart Layout:

The small code snippet: <?php include("dlgcart.php"); ?> is used to display the actual shopping cart information.

The small code snippet: <?php include("cartmenu.php"); ?> is used to display the shopping cart category menu. This needs to be pasted AFTER the dlgcart.php tag as shown above.

The small code snippet: <?php include("cartcontents.php"); ?> is used to display products your customer currently has in their shopping cart. This needs to be pasted AFTER the dlgcart.php tag as shown above.

How can I 'pull' the recent threads from my forums to add into this page? (to replace the bulleted list under the first section - TheWDBoards)

As far as I can see you have already done that but if you still have problems, please check webquery section in user manual as well as test2 webtemplate which does this.

i have shopping cart software

http://cg-hq.com/dlg/cart/

is there a way to intergrate that page into vbulletin that way i have a the same header and footer and color scheme or is there a way to create the header footer on this page ? i still need to keep function of the cart software

would this be what i am needing ?

here is some more info to help

Including a php file into vb system can not always be done as their functions/css etc. can clash but you can always test and see if it will work. Add such a code to your phpinclude section of your webtemplate:

$mycart = include("cartmenu.php");

Then use $mycart inside your webtemplate and see what will happen.

This mod is simply INSANE. I just tripped across it today, and it meets more of my needs, and gives me a ton of ideas for other things.

Looks very powerful. Can it do something like this...

www.1perfectworld.com

Look at the index page. It's a completely different design than the forum? And it has newest members, latest threads etc. Also could you do a page like this for example

http://1perfectworld.com/guides/races/warrior.php

And just redesign the template to make it look like just a normal page without all the vb header footer etc but just a normal looking page?
