Still looking for some help. Anyone?

OhSoBlonde 12-26-2008 12:30 PM

So anyone able to help out? This is a great hack, but only if it works.

Ryansmom33 01-02-2009 02:04 PM

wow the lack of support is amazing.

You should ask for your money back from the coder!

Thanx flypaper, that was really helpful. Considering this was distributed for free on a board, where it is indicated by the coder that the hack IS supported and he was last online in Dec 2008 (long after the different requests for help, including mine & Ryansmom's), coder could at the very least acknowledge the posts.

I know it sucks having to walk us newbies thru basic steps, but I've re-d/l'd & uninstalled/reinstalled this hack over 10 times and am still having the same problem. Obviously no one else is finding that they are getting Error 404 like me or maybe they haven't tested it completely on their board OR MAYBE I just need a little help. Is it really too much to ask, that ya have to step in with a snarky reply? Are you the coder in disguise?

Jeebus, we love this hack, just can't get it to work NOR are we getting any advice/help. We're running 3.7.4 Patch Level 1. The hack has not worked for us ever and we started with 3.7.4.

OhSoBlonde 01-03-2009 03:07 AM

And, BTW, maybe if he'd reply and help me make the darn thing would work, I might consider donating. But right now...NO, NO and NO!

Is this mod 3.8 compatible ?

Works for me.

djbaxter 01-14-2009 03:11 AM

It doesn't work on my 3.8 forum. The menus keep appearing and disappearing at random.

It may be that if it was installed prior to a 3.8 update it's more stable.

OhSoBlonde 01-15-2009 06:05 AM

We've upgraded to 3.8 and have made some adjustments to our templates. The new error we're receiving is:
Quote:

Warning: require_once(./global.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/cdnation/public_html/vbforums/upload/cis_ignore_thread.php on line 5

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required './global.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/cdnation/public_html/vbforums/upload/cis_ignore_thread.php on line 5
Any ideas?

This mod is released AS IS. Sorry, but I have A LOT of work to do. I release products here that I have developed for some clients (with their permission). I could very well say screw everyone and keep them to myself and just charge people for them when I see a request in the paid requests forum, but I (and my clients) choose to support the VB community.

If you cannot figure out this mod, well, your out of luck. If you want to complain, I am not listening.

kmohamed 01-16-2009 04:18 AM

this is great but it will even be better if u add ur favorite thread too >> maybe the next upgrade
great work

Perhaps you should change that large "Supported" logo next to the mod announcement, then?

edytwinky 02-03-2009 03:23 PM

Can admins select what users and forums members can't select?

sdsvtdriver 02-04-2009 03:04 AM

One of main issues with the built in ignore in VB is if someone quotes a post that a user has ignored, they see the ignored user's post in the reply.

Does this mod fix this issue?

mattcaswell 02-15-2009 04:29 AM

I love the mod and I understand it's unsupported but I have a wierd bug.

With Safari and IE, the Ignore Thread , Ignore Forum shows up just fine in the dropdown menu.
In Firefox, it doesnt show up at all.

Doesn't matter if it's a Mac or Vista or Vista 64.. Firefox won't show the ignore item on the drop down menu.

Any Ideas?

This line of code in the Thread and Forum ignore code block is what's killing Firefox. Could it be my permissions that are wrong?
Code:

<if condition="$vbulletin->userinfo[permissions]['cispermissions'] & $vbulletin->bf_ugp_cispermissions[can_thread]">

Although I thought I said it's.

MTGDarkness 02-21-2009 07:09 AM

Excellent MOD. Users on my forum have been asking me for something like this for a while now. :D

With vb3.8.1 I can't install it as an addon or a plugin.

Thanks for any hint. :o

droid101 02-26-2009 09:29 PM

Hm... when looking at "Who's Online" if the person is editing their Ignore settings, it says they are in an "Unknown Location."

I know the Developer isn't supporting it, but sometimes users of products fix that little Who's Online thing for other people. Anyone fix this for their site and want to share?

Thanks!

sflmkv 03-10-2009 10:09 PM

Hi, is it possible to ignore a forum by default for all users?

Why wouldn't you just use permissions for that?

sidhe 03-18-2009 01:32 PM

I know the developer isn't offering support, but does anyone know of a way to get the "Forum Ignore" feature of this to work under 3.8.1? I can't quite figure it out.

Thanks.

sidhe 03-18-2009 03:30 PM

NM, figured it out.

sidhe 03-18-2009 06:31 PM

If you're installing this in 3.8.1, you'll need to add the "$tag_error" call to the "fetch_valid_tag()" function in the cis_settings.php file. From 3.7 to 3.8 an additional element was added to fetch_valid_tag() that has to be accounted for.

I attached how I implemented it.

IvyKeepMommy 03-31-2009 01:33 PM

I'd love to see this updated for 3.8 :)

This mod seems great, but I wonder if this can be done, or if someone knows of a Mod already.

I run a forum that will have heated discussions about Politics. When the heated battle is going on, usually two users are at it and won't quit.

I wonder if this could be tweaked to allow for a Mod or a Admin to put those two users on Auto Ignore for a set time.

Example:

UserA and UserB are fighting about something, they just won't quit, so I as a Moderator set in and click a button which does three things. Sends them a canned PM telling them they are in time out for X minutes/hours, Put them both on each others Ignore list, and then after the set time, removed them from each others ignore list...

This way, we can per determine what the time out period is and the canned response and all my Moderator has to do if they won't listen is click a button?

Does this sound possible at all? With this Mod, or would it take a completely different one?

Thanks for any help and for this great Mod! My users will at least love this one!

Jamie

For me, all browsers I tested (FF, IE, Opera) display the Ignore Forum option, but none display the Ignore Thread option. Is there a solution to this? I have confirmed that TMS is applying the template modifications.

Okay.. I made a short video for my users that show how to use this mod. It's posted on Youtube and you can search with the terms sabrehood and vbulletin and it should show up. you may find it useful for your users also.

I've been told we can't post links here.. so thats why I didn't.

I've seen the option on other software packages that allowed Administrators to set a member to ignore, and the entire member base couldn't see their posts or threads.

Is that option available?

edytwinky 06-11-2009 06:03 AM

Does this system allow you to set which forums and members you cannot ignore?

edytwinky 06-16-2009 07:02 AM

Anybody?

It's called "Tachy Goes to Coventry" found in vBulletin Options > User Banning Options
