I disabled all my plugins one by one to find the plugin responsible for this is this addon

Plz fix

halliday06 06-25-2008 08:51 AM

i'm using this so if a user with under 5 posts goes to view a certain post in a forum, he will get an error.

is there a way i can change what the error is?

thanks, amazing hack

Valter 06-25-2008 04:18 PM

It's all in phrases. So go to Phrase Manager, search for text, change/translate phrase...

markblair 06-26-2008 05:24 AM

This is a great modification and one I have been using for awhile. I noticed something today that seems to be something I can't fix. I have mine set to restrict the posting of links/e-mails, etc. until the member has 10 posts. However, someone with only 1 post was able to add a link to their signature. I thought the restriction for posting links also restricted signature links. Is that not true? If not, how can I modify this add-on to not allow signature links until a certain amount of posts are made?

Thanks again! :)

Great feature. However, when trying to set on all existing forums, this is the message I get:

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing or mismatched.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error."

Please help.

This is the exact error I am receiving for another completely different modification. In my instance, it is happening for GARS. This all started back when CSRF protection was added. I don't know much about CSRF protection but I have noticed that several modifications recently had it implemented.

You have to reup all files except config & install, then run finalupgrade

Hi,

I use this in my forum .. can this be extended to apply rules to Visitor Messaging?
i note that some users spam Visitor Messaging with links and I would like to avoid this!

Does anyone know the answer to the above question? I want to restrict new members from adding links to their signatures but I don't want to turn off all BB code. If this modification doesn't do this, does anyone know one that does?

Thanks!

Hi. I installed this mod yesterday on my forums (the version for 3.6) and I have had to uninstall it since problems arose. My members are still having the same problems, even with it being gone.

Any ideas? they are saying they can not use new posts/search, or see some forums. Some even when they do new posts they can only get to the forums that way. Also, a few of them can't use any smilies, etc. It's weird. I uninstalled the product completely and it's still not having my members do a few things.

unicorn2433 07-09-2008 11:37 PM

will this help me get this

To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

or this

you must register to view images ...

Hi again Cyb,

I have a little issue..

how can I change the error message in forum for some usergroup? specially for guests?

I mean, I've set the Minimum post count user must have to be able to view forum in some forum, but when a Guest/Unregistered User try to access the forum He got the same error message which is (To access this forum your post count must be XX or greater. You currently have X posts.)

so I want to keep this message for other Usergroups but I want Guests/Unregistered Users get another message such as, ( you can not access this forum because you are not registered/logged in..

is it possible to do so?

and how?

because I don't this message: (To access this forum your post count must be XX or greater. You currently have X posts.) is really suitable for Guests/Unregistered.

thank you

:)

VIPER-MAN 07-14-2008 04:05 AM

You may be better off asking in the Programming Discussion forum, as that request involves custom coding.

I don't think so

what I'm asking for is related to this mod.. and I think it's not hard to be edited or edding some codes and phrases by -Cyb..

I think it's simple but I'm not a coder..

I hope we can get an answer from Cyb and not to get ignored by him..

Valter 07-17-2008 01:04 PM

It's not phrase thing. It requires several changes in plugins.

I still believe in you and know you can do it.. ;)

because this issue looks really ugly when guests get the message about their posts count..
I mean they're just guest, and they don't have any, posts.. so they should see another error message

:)

thanks Cyb..

Shazz 07-17-2008 08:56 PM

Cyb it looks great either way :D

Had to uninstall. It has been working for a long time - maybe a year. I made a bunch of changes to my forum this am and it stopped Starting New Threads when someone reported a post. See
Quote:

Report Post starting a new thread stopped working.

See thread: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279042

I was making some changes in my forum this morning and I changed the forum I had specified in vBulletin Options > User Infractions and Post Reporting Options to start a thread in a different forum than what I had it set for. I had it set to start a new thread in my 'super moderators' forum and changed it to the 'moderator's' forum. When I changed the destination forum the software stopped starting a new thread - period. I changed back to the forum I did have it set to start a new thread in but it still won't start a new thread when someone reports a post as it did before.

It still sends emails like it should (I have it set for admins, super mods and mods to get emails). It just doesn't start a new thread.

Do any of you have any ideas? The board is rather heavily modded, but everything was working up until I made that change this morning. Is there any setting / permissions that anyone is aware of that could cause this? Is there anything that would conflict with this function?

I have a test account and tried to see if reporting a post from different user groups and forums made any difference and neither the user group of the reporter or the forum the reported thread is in make any difference.

Now, I did change some things in several of my forums permissions this morning, but I don't see anything there that should interfere with the Report this Post starting a new thread in a forum set in the vBulletin Options > User Infractions and Post Reporting Options settings.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Cyb,

I want to have a different error message displayed in the postbit when unregistered users are not allowed to view attachments, but once registered, can view thumbnails. Right now 'error_postcount_too_low_attachment' is being used for both cases.

I've made it as far as editing Cyb - APBOUPC - P4 (PD) to use 'error_postcount_too_low_attachment_postbit' and I've created the phrase, but I'm getting the error in the postbit that 'error_postcount_too_low_attachment_postbit' does not exist.

What am I missing?

Cyb, any insight on this?

It can not be ugly. It's just information that area is not opened for all users. Is there any good reason to hide this info from guests? No one like situations where you see message "please register", then you register and see another message "no access before you bla bla". Users will leave forum in many cases after this and you will just have a lot of inactive accounts in your database.

Few days ago I've registered to some forum because membership is required to view threads, then I activated account, and then I see another message "you must donate to view......". Then I asked admin to delete my account as I will never use it again. I'll be thankful if they said in the first message that forum area is accessible to donors only.

How about an option to restrict members under X amount of posts from posting files?

<font face="Comic Sans MS">Trying to figure out something.

a member with 1 post was able to vote in a poll in a forum that needed 150 posts to even view.

he didnt show up at the bottom as having read the thread..but he voted in it..how was that when i use to this hack to prevent anybody from even accessing it til they reach 150 posts???</font>

Valter 07-24-2008 03:18 PM

Probably someone provided him a direct link to give his vote.

If it was some poll about members then user who "guest" voted for may be responsible. :D

Bump - Has anyone else experienced this conflict?

Forum Lover 07-26-2008 04:56 AM

Can you please add poll options too?

Fynnon 08-02-2008 08:18 AM

I use vB3.7.2 PL1 but it seems to not work with v4.4 of this mod

Smitty 08-02-2008 10:10 AM

Cyb - Which takes precedence:

1. User Groups - Visitor Messaging Permissions
or
2. Visitor Messaging settings in the mod

I.e.: For the mod Visitor Messaging settings to work, they have to be turned on in the User Group settings, correct?

Fynnon 08-03-2008 09:35 PM

i already have 2 other of cyb mods so i know he`s one of the best vB modder around and this mod must work too...maybe i`m doing something wrong but i just want to not shot the attachments to unrefistered members and bots but it seems to not work

number of posts required is set to zero

i am successfully running this mod with 3.72 pl1 and mod version 4.4, no issues. so i would guess it's something in your config or conflict with another mod?
