so your saying a fixed width chat box with its size set by the site admin? i was going to making it resizeable with 1 21 chat with multi chat ability so you can have more then one chatbox open at one time. There want be a feature yet to have group chats in one chatbox just yet the biggest part for me right now is the drag and drop icons, the browser support for pageX and clientX is a big pain.

LCN2007 05-18-2009 03:25 PM

What is this"with 1 21 chat"

But yes that sounds great if i understand what you wrote.

Sizable Main Chat for everyone to talk to each other with the ability to have multiple 1 on 1 IM Chats?

pein87 05-18-2009 06:50 PM

yes thats right I ment 1 2 1 chat. its a wonder what knowing the position of the mouse can do for your web apps. I'm still working on the drag and drop part and ist coming along slow lol I cant get it to register the positions right using event.clientX and event.clientY using

document.onmousemove = function () {
if (iE) {
cur_x = event.clientX;
cur_y = event.clientY;
} else { cur_x = window.pageX;
cur_y = window.pageY
}
}

LCN2007 05-31-2009 02:56 AM

any updates?

pein87 06-01-2009 07:12 PM

None yet i got side tracked with this new job from a local call center but I'll be resuming it in a week.

TNCclubman 06-02-2009 02:32 PM

This site is NOT a market place. If you wish to pay someone to create a modification for you, please post in Requests For Paid Services You may also NOT advertise your paid modifications on this site.

This thread was pruned of most messages from the last few pages because these rules were broken. If the rules continue to be broken, the thread will simply be closed.

Flowsion 06-13-2009 08:39 PM

So uh, you've deleted all the posts that show that there is actually a working model of what we wanted thereby eliminating any new people looking into this of knowing?

mystikmedia 06-13-2009 09:09 PM

That was a bad moderation choice IMO. You'd have been much better off to move the thread to the paid services forum, if that's the only place it would have been suitable.

sparklywater 06-13-2009 09:19 PM

yes surely an unfair decision I think, it's not like the guy was being dishonest with his product.

I removed every post regarding paying for a modification and then every post advertising the paid modification and all responses to that.

Like I said, if you want to post to get this modification made for you, feel free to post in the Paid Requests area.

If you don't feel this thread should have been moderated in that way, feel free to take it up with an Admin.

TNCclubman 06-13-2009 10:14 PM

so to be clear in the future...

people can ask for mods, you cant present mods when people are asking for a mod to do so-and-so. (if they arent free)

Is this correct? Kind of sucks if thats the case because people will all be asking for mods for their site when there are solutions out there.

If thats the rule, thats the rule.

Lynne 06-13-2009 10:56 PM

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking and I'd like to answer the question for you. Perhaps this will help...

You may post asking for a mod. However, if you are offering money ("I'll pay $$$ for a mod that does this" "I'll donate $$$ for a mod that does this" type posts), it needs to be in the Paid Mods forum. A thread trying to gather people together to pay to get a mod done isn't allowed here either.

And then, there is the whole advertising a paid mod here ("I've made this mod available here - mywebsite.com - and it costs $$$"). That is against the rules also.

Both of those types of posts were filling the second half of this thread. Then there were several posts quoting someone offering money, or the post advertising the paid mod and so those got removed also. There were also several posts talking about features they want added to the paid mod. I basically removed all of those. That left some posts like "Yeah, I agree" or other types of posts that made no sense once the post before it was removed, so I got rid of those. Like I said, basically the second half of the thread was removed because of all the mention of payment and advertising of the mod.

I don't think anyone on the Mod team was actively reading this thread or it would have been stopped long ago.

sparklywater 06-13-2009 11:03 PM

What would happen if this whole thread was simply moved to the Paid Mods forum?

TNCclubman 06-13-2009 11:04 PM

Thats where I think a problem happens because you cant reply to posts in that forum.

--------------- Added [DATE]1244937988[/DATE] at [TIME]1244937988[/TIME] ---------------

Is there a place on the net that has all vbulletin 'paid' mods listed? Would save people alot of time posting for mod requests if they already exist.

Lynne 06-13-2009 11:27 PM

Other users can't reply to threads in the Paid Mods forum - only the thread started may reply.

I really don't know of any list of paid mods. Whenever I've looked for them, I just try to google for them and sometimes get luckily with the key words I entered.

anantgarg 06-14-2009 02:38 AM

Hello,

I was not aware of the rules. Can you please suggest the appropriate way to inform people about the CometChat mod?

Thank you,
Anant

ragtek 06-14-2009 03:06 AM

normaly the developer have a link in there signature and they make some free mods(or light versions)^^

thats the best way of advertising(hope thats the right word)

all other are making the users themself(if there happy with the product, they'll send others to your site,etc)

It is unfortunate the a legit addon which adds true value to the community is removed in such a way.

Shouldn't there be a forum where we can atleast list and inform existing+new vBulletin customers about the existence of the addon.

Anyways, for all new users who are wondering what we are talking about, please view the links in my signature.

Regards,
Anant

N-0p3rz 06-14-2009 04:01 AM

soooo to stay on topic then..

Anyone coding this for free?

TNCclubman 06-14-2009 07:16 AM

ya i think the free version got hijacked again. Lynne, can you clean the post again...lol

1Unreal 06-14-2009 07:49 PM

A Lite version would be the best way to promote it. Or mabey release a base model for free and have paid addons. Or Limit the number of conversations to something like 2 or 3 and have it paid no limit.

Theres loads of ways to monetize this. But people wont pay for it, there are so many mods on here which are worth money however they are free.

goxy63 06-17-2009 12:37 AM

Best way by my humble opinion should be

1.Free version with brand on it (Lite version)

2.Brand free version for reasonable price
And updates would be available here at vb.org free of charge of course :D

I would go for this othervise not interested

So "anantgarg" maybe these days we can see new mod here at forums!?

Cheers

great ideas.

mystikmedia 06-17-2009 01:00 AM

I don't see why he should be expected to give away his hard work. If you want free, use one of the many free chatboxes. A premium product such as this should be compensated.

TNCclubman 06-17-2009 01:13 AM

Like mentioned before, there are premium products offered here for free.

I also think he should be compensated, but if he doesnt launch a free version 'lite' (not all the features of the paid version) then no one will know about it in order to buy it.

COBRAws 06-17-2009 04:32 AM

At this time, I was unable to find a full features list :( Will have to wait then...

Mr Chris 06-17-2009 09:42 AM

This guy obviously worked long and hard on this mod. Im not sure why anyone would expect this to be free.

Elenna 06-17-2009 02:46 PM

I believe the only issue is that this thread is in the Free section. IMHO, if Anantgarg doesn't feel like making this for free (which is completely his decision), a new thread should be made in the appropriate section for Paid Releases.

TNCclubman 06-17-2009 02:55 PM

but no one can post in that section aside from 1 post asking for a paid mod. No discussions allowed there. Try responding to any posts in that room.

Its on release 1.0.0. Supposedly there are many bugs reported so you might want to wait for a couple releases like I am before things get worked out. I'll pay for it when its working well.

His work, his decision...those prices stated at his site are bit too high for most of us as many like me dont make a cent from our forums.....and by my opinion if you look what lets say 'tufats flashchat' sript (which is not the same of course) offers for just few $, this is too high
Thanks but no thanks

With clever light version here he can profit much more than away from here, Iam new to Vb but not with some business stuff

Would like to see light version of this mod at vb.org, supported here, discussed here ect...

Not too many bugs, thank goodness. :)

But, for my community, it's been definitely worth the price paid already.

But, unless you HAVE to have it now, I'd wait for the next version which will have some fixes on a couple of additional features that we've asked for. :D

COBRAws 06-18-2009 02:10 AM

Anyway, 1 week and no requirements nor features list. Not very serious. I'm gonna keep looking for a jabber based chat that can be used with IM clients as well.

This may have the same "style" but not the same core features :(

The site as well as the feature list is online since yesterday. You may want to have a look now. The link is part of my signature.
