Hey Boofo,

I have a quick question. I have this up and running works great BUT...

for some odd reason, the stats sometimes CHANGE.

For example, the other day my site stats were 27,000 people who have visited and this morning it was 18,000.

Is there something I am missing? Isn't this just a set it and forget it ?

I love the mod though....

Just thought I would ask.

I'm having the same problem...

I "custom " set it to the figure as I posted previously in this thread now it's

There have been 2,553 visitors to this site.

LOL !!

Boofo 04-16-2008 05:44 PM

No way that can happen on it's own. All it does it write the number to the text file and then read it back. Make sure the fle is set to chmod 777, which it should be to work.

From the first post and install file: ;)

NOTE: You must chmod 777 the forumhome_pagehits.txt file so it can be written to when updating the pagehits.

berry05 04-16-2008 06:19 PM

nicee hack!

SuperDave71 04-16-2008 06:31 PM

Mine HAS been set to 777 . I use FlashFXP and a simple right click and the attribs are "777".

Has been from the start. I am still clueless on this one.

Love the mod though.

Make sure you have no commas in the txt file. It should read something like: 27677

Other than that, there is no way it can be doing what you say it is. It updates the txt file by one on every page view and then reads it back. If it was to change, it couldn't go back to what it originally was before the change and start counting again. It would have no way to remember.

SuperDave71 04-16-2008 08:42 PM

No commas. I promise you , I am NOT losing it.

NO complaints, I agree with you. I would haev NO idea HOW on earth this would reset itself either.

I will do this....it is working 100% right now. i will post if is acts up again.

Thanks Boofo,

Dave

Boofo 04-16-2008 09:03 PM

Well, as we found out on your last problem, someone changed something. So this might be happening again. It is acts up again, PM me and I will take a look at it.

SuperDave71 04-19-2008 11:08 AM

Ok...Thanks Boofo. I really appreciate it.

I want this to work because I love the mod.

Thanks again,

Dave

princeedward 04-19-2008 02:46 PM

same problem here Bro. Boofo...it keep coming back to low visitors count always...i did followed every instructions...edit the forumhome_pagehits.txt (777 permissions) into bigger count of visitors without commas like... 357458035...it will work at the first time...but later on...it will go back to 2 digit...please advice...

:(

best regards...

SuperDave71 04-19-2008 03:11 PM

Thanks prince..

I was beginning to think I was going crazy! It happened to me again this morning.

Mine was 28345 last night...and this morning it was 18565

no IDEA....but Boofo will figure it out I hope. I love this mod and certainly want it to work the way it should.

Thanks,

Dave

Bounce 04-19-2008 11:00 PM

Just happened to me again and mine is defo cmd to 777 :erm:

Would it reset if the server got rebooted or whatever but don't think it has as we are dedicated, just thinking out loud

Boofo 04-20-2008 12:44 AM

What do you mean by 'reset'? Since the page count is read from the file only, it has no way to remember any count to be reset to other than what is written to the file. Mine is working flawlessly, and has been since I installed it. You can try taking the following line out of the code in the forumhome_complete hook to see it that helps:

Code:

$hits[0] = (float) $hits[0];

Since you guys are using such ridiculously large numbers, that might be the reason it is acting up on you.

Why??

Won't number's of hits ever get that high, if we got say 3,000 hits a week (some site's i'd say get far more than that) over 52 weeks and 5 years thats a high number

MissKalunji 04-20-2008 02:49 PM

uhm ima have to check if mine does the same i did wonder why it was staying at 37,xxx for the past week

i'm watching or observing it the whole day...i guess the "TRICK" work or hope it will go on now without problem...i did edit also that thing into higher numbers...just to look more better than a forum that just been started...with a low numbers of visitors...:p
but as i said...i guess...it stay now to what i expected...thanks once again Bro Boofo

best regards

;)

Boofo 04-20-2008 04:51 PM

Keep me posted on whether the fix works for you. ;)

Bounce 04-20-2008 06:10 PM

It looks like the path to the txt file is wrong or missing.

I've implement this with years, months and days:-
http://www.studentmidwife.net/

Boofo 04-23-2008 11:02 AM

It already has years and days.

rob30UK 04-23-2008 11:03 AM

well, months is good isnt it.... just an idea

Boofo 04-23-2008 11:22 AM

Yes, nice idea. Care to share how you did it?

SuperDave71 04-25-2008 12:10 PM

Hey Guys,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I must say, I thought I fixed this one as well with the code modiification but it was not the case.

This morning before work, I had 32412 hits on the visitors.

When I got to work, it was set to 12232.

I have no idea what the issue could be. Sadly, I am going to have to remove this mod for now.

Please post if anyone else is having issues. I know Boofo has quailty mods and this is by NO means any reflection on his work. I am sure there is something possibly conflicting on my site.

Just wanted to offer a friendly heads up.

Thanks.

Dave

Beings you are the only one who has reported the fix not working, it has to be something you changed or another hack interfering with this one. Possibly the same gremlin that messed up the Site Map hack? ;)
