Are you using the Unread Posts and Reputation hack?

MiahBeSmokin420 03-13-2008 11:52 PM

good shit its working great on vB 3.6.7

rolandogomez 03-14-2008 05:04 AM

Everything works great, except the automatic greeting doesn't work, still says "Welcome" on 3.7b6, the other two worked fine top menu and the remember me. I activated it in the options per your instructions, any ideas? Thanks, rg sends!

Boofo 03-14-2008 05:12 AM

You are running Paul M's Unread Posts and Reputation mod, aren't you? ;)

Any suggestions?

Trying uninstalling the old version and re-installing this one and let me know if that fixes it. ;)

Have you tried the manual template edit from the install file? There are some hacks that interfere with the line it searches for.

Boofo 03-15-2008 05:36 AM

I think I found out why some of you say this isn't working. It seems that there are a couple of hacks that change the line to use the musername instead of the username. The automatic template edit won't work for that as that is not the original line in vb. If the line in the navbar template does not look like this originally:

Quote:

<strong><phrase 1="$bbuserinfo[username]" 2="member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$bbuserinfo[userid]">$vbphrase[welcome_x_link_y]</phrase></strong><br />
then you will need to do a manual edit. The part in red it what is it supposed to be but I have seen musername there from some hacks.

I did that before I posted, just in case.

It must have been just a glitch. I had Good Afternoon Peggy up there for approx 7 hours, but it's working fine now.

Thanks babe!

Boofo 03-15-2008 05:57 AM

Maybe the server time was acting up on you. That can happen once in a while.

Tom_S 04-01-2008 05:54 AM

Brother you crank out some great mods! Thanks again! :up:

GrendelKhan{TSU 04-01-2008 06:28 AM

Fun and simple hack..Thanks!!

that said, how do I change the look and what links appear in the extra NAVBAR?

- one of the reasons I wanted this hack is I need a simple way to add an extra bar without figuring it out myself (lazy bastid I am). :p
- but when I add the extra bar... it goes shooting off the edge of the page. :(
- plus I want to add a drop down menu with fun extras on my board. :D

any tips would be appreciated. I'm a code n00bsquared. :/

Just edit Unread Posts and Reputation (2) in your plugin manager.

Code:

$vbphrase['welcome_x_link_y'] .= '</strong><br />'.$unread.'<strong>';

with this
Code:

$vbphrase['ung_greeting'] .= '</strong><br />'.$unread.'<strong>';

woot!! thanks! that did it.

shlomot 05-07-2008 12:59 PM

WoW! Installed the MOD even without knowing how much extra is there (2nd navbar).

Thanks for a great MOD.

dancue 05-09-2008 04:49 AM

Boofo,
Any way to alter what links we see on that top navbar through the admincp?

I'd really like to just have My Threads, My Posts, Today's Posts, and Mark Forums Read under the search menu.

Boofo 05-09-2008 05:02 AM

You can edit the template for the links in the hack, if that is what you mean.

dancue 05-09-2008 05:49 AM

I've got it figured out. Thanks a bunch anyways.

echo2kk5 05-10-2008 02:18 PM

**Installed...thanks to both of you, Boofo & Pam. :)

PoetJA-1975 05-10-2008 11:22 PM

Um - is this available for the 3.6.x series please?

Thanx,

JAcquii.

Boofo 05-11-2008 03:40 AM

It should work fine wth 3.6.x. ;)

dancue 05-11-2008 12:23 PM

Is there any reason why a url that is not within my forum will not work if on a drop down menu?

For example, I made a drop down menu for admins and placed a link for vb.org there. When I click on it it will not work.

I doubt this is this hack's fault. I just hope someone can shed some light.

Boofo 05-11-2008 12:39 PM

Without see what you added, it is hard to say.

dancue 05-11-2008 12:42 PM

http://www.hiphopeulogy.com

Look at the admin menu on the top nav. Scroll down to the bottom, you'll see the various links that do not work. Obviously admincp will, it's the others I'm worried about.

This is the code I used for that menu:
Code:

<div class="vbmenu_popup" id="adminaccess_menu" style="display:none">
        <table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1" border="0">
        <tr><td class="thead" align="$stylevar[left]">Site Related</td></tr>

        <tr><td class="vbmenu_option" align="$stylevar[left]"><a href="http://www.hiphopeulogy.com/forum/admincp/index.php" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">AdminCP</a></td></tr>

            <td class="thead">Miscellaneous</td>
        </tr>
        <tr><td class="vbmenu_option" align="$stylevar[left]"><a href="http://www.vbulletin.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">vBulletin.com</a></td></tr>
        <tr><td class="vbmenu_option" align="$stylevar[left]"><a href="http://www.vbulletin.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">vBulletin.org</a></td></tr>
        <tr><td class="vbmenu_option" align="$stylevar[left]"><a href="http://www.allwheelcoding.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">AllWheelCoding.com</a></td></tr>
</table>
</div>

Boofo 05-11-2008 12:47 PM

I see no admin menu as a guest. Bit I would take the phpmyadmin link and the others out like that when posting the code here or you are asking for problems.

dancue 05-11-2008 12:55 PM

good point. I've edited it. Do you see anything wrong with the code?

Boofo 05-11-2008 01:47 PM

Not so far.

dancue 05-11-2008 01:49 PM

I'll pm you admin access so you can see what I'm talking about.

NAZIA 05-12-2008 12:22 PM

Nice sharing
Thankss

I just installed this mod on 3.7.0 gold and nothing changed. Just the standard Welcome and name. Any thoughts?

PGAmerica 05-12-2008 03:06 PM

There are two images in the zip file you provided. Where do those get uploaded too? I saw nothing about them in the instructions.

PGAmerica 05-12-2008 05:34 PM

D'Oh! No, I did not.

odln018 05-14-2008 01:38 PM

Unfortunately, this did not work for me. Uninstalled.

Boofo 05-14-2008 01:48 PM

Well, without knowing what didn't work, no one can help you, huh?

jonnycrick 05-14-2008 02:15 PM

Hey, I checked out the post to see the fix for the greeting not showing but can't work out how to do it. My code looks different from what its supposed to:

<strong><phrase 1="$bbuserinfo[username]">$vbphrase[welcome_x]</phrase></strong><br />
<phrase 1="$pmbox[lastvisitdate]" 2="$pmbox[lastvisittime]">$vbphrase[last_visited_x_at_y]</phrase>
<if condition="$show['notifications']">
<span id="notifications"><a href="usercp.php$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[your_notifications]:</a> <strong>$notifications_total</strong></span></if>

Could you tell me what to change it to? Thanks v. much.

Boofo 05-14-2008 02:54 PM

Have you checked the default template to see how yours is different? Are you running 3.6 by chance?
