You must post all the error text.

You are missing a value for lastrepcheck - I suggest you uninstall this and then re-install it.

/forums/
and the full www.clan...co.uk/foeums/ also didnt work ?

db is set right as well as it wused to work ok ?

i forgot all about the issue with ultimate navbar, working again thanks !

lunarmodule 05-04-2008 12:45 AM

Hmm. Well, I upgraded my forum to 7.0 last night and I'm having trouble getting this new version to work for me. It shows the "unread posts" portion, but not the reputation part.

I previously had your 6x version installed (loved it btw), upgraded forum to 3.7.0, uninstalled 6x version in the product manager, installed the new one successfully, but I can only get the "unread posts" part to show up. Everything seemed to go perfectly, no errors.

During the forum upgrade, and before the mod install, I reverted back all templates and I just verified they are unaltered and up to date.

It almost seems to me like it just needs to be turned on, but I verified in vB Options that the bullet for "display new reputation comments" is set to yes.

I saw your warning:
Quote:

Note that this attaches itself to certain phrases in the "welcome" box and therefore will not work if they are not present (or are modified by other code).
and that seems like it might apply to me but, as far as I can tell, the templates are fresh and untouched.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks a bunch and I love this hack, when I can get it to work. :)

lunarmodule 05-04-2008 12:54 AM

no additional template modifications are necessary, right? all i did was install the xml in the product manager.

lunarmodule 05-04-2008 12:59 AM

OH, ugh, nm, got it. It doesn't show up unless there is a new rep comment, otherwise the line doesn't appear at all, which is different than the 6x version. But it's fine! :)

Thanks again, great hack.

Yes, the "no new comments" line was removed.

johnban 05-05-2008 06:46 AM

I installed it but it does not appear in the navbar.

why???

GoNz00 05-05-2008 06:54 AM

I read again all the thread but I didn't figure out what I should do . :erm:

And since I am new with VB what do you mean ultimate navbar?? Can you explain in more details??

Thanks,

John.

Goomzee 05-05-2008 08:50 AM

Well... I found out something but it doesn't work correctly.

When I am selecting "Use Last Visit Date" displays "No Unread Posts since your last visit." so far so good...

When I am selecting "Count All Posts Marked as Unread" displays "Display Unread Posts" even if I have or not unread Posts.
Shouldn't display ...
Code:

You Have <strong>No <a href="{1}search.php?do=getnew{2}">Unread Posts</a></strong>
If I have no unread posts and
Code:

You Have <strong>{1} <a href="{3}search.php?do=getnew{4}">Unread {2}</a></strong>
If I had undread posts??

Paul M 05-05-2008 01:27 PM

Actually I wasnt sure what you meant to start with, but now I've read it again I see.

This will happen if you use the "Count All Posts Marked as Unread" option, and you have set your "Database Read Marking Limit" higher than the "Maximum Cutoff Limit" in this mod. The cutoff needs to be equal to or greater than the marking limit.

subnet_rx 05-05-2008 01:44 PM

Is there an addon like this that displays unread posts without using database marking? I know there used to be for 3.6

I like the add great job.
I'm new to this and have no clue what to make it, any help please?

Paul M 05-05-2008 10:21 PM

Assuming its the site in your signature, you shouldnt need to set it to anything.

that is the site name. When I turn the unread post count on it leaves the new post blank.
The rep part works and I can get the unread post to work but then the new post is off. Not sure what is wrong there so I have the unread post turned off at the moment.

markblair 05-06-2008 04:59 AM

I just installed this mod for vB 3.7 (have been using the previous version for awhile) and it works great! Thanks again for an excellent mod. :)

New Post ?

I dont understand what you mean by that.

droid101 05-06-2008 11:17 AM

Okay, so if I set the new reputation comment to be normal, legacy mode, it works fine.

However, if I set it to be like a notification, when clicking it, it doesn't work. It doesn't add the /forums/ inbetween my URL and usercp.php, like it does when it's not a notification.

Any thoughts?

Paul M 05-06-2008 12:46 PM

Hmm, could be a bug, I'll take a look tonight.

When I turn the unread post on then under the New Post link on the navabar will remove the post after you read it. When I have the unread post turned off the new post link acts more like todays post. I'm hoping that it making some since. This was not a problem with 3.6 version and is now with the 3.7 version for me. When it was cookie based it was what everyone liked. It has to be something that I'm missing and I don't know what it is.

Thanks. I just narrowed down the issue.

When there actually is new reputation, the link doesn't work. However, if there is no new reputation (but some other new notification), the link works from the dropdown.

Just trying to help!

Paul M 05-06-2008 06:43 PM

It was a small bug in the notification code, it wasnt applying the links path. Fixed in 3.7.005.

ABeautifulBrown 05-06-2008 09:15 PM

I've installed it but I don't see it :(

LisaJH 05-07-2008 02:21 AM

It works for me :D

docvader 05-08-2008 04:02 AM

Any reputation comments in postbit hack Paul?

Paul M 05-08-2008 07:18 AM

Not from me, I dont know if one exists at all.

ABeautifulBrown 05-09-2008 12:55 AM

I uploaded the file in the admin, checked the settings, and I still don't see it. :(

Paul M 05-09-2008 07:08 AM

Are you actually using the database thread marking system ?

dancue 05-09-2008 01:27 PM

I'm using the database thread marking system and I don't see the unread posts. I can see the new rep comments. (I set it under notifications)

Paul M 05-09-2008 04:35 PM

Sorry but I cannot help you without admin access to your forum.

prawn 05-12-2008 09:58 AM

Thanks for that great and another "that should be vbulletin default" modification.

Best

mgurain 05-12-2008 10:12 AM

It didn't work for my 3.7.0 Gold ! nothing appears, it was working on 3.6 with last version.

Paul M 05-12-2008 11:56 AM

See post #115 :)

IvyKeepMommy 05-13-2008 02:05 AM

I have this installed and it works great, but I'm having an issue on my site with "database errors" that the host is saying is caused by too many queries at once... so I'm trying to track that down.

Does this modification add to the queries significantly?

Paul M 05-13-2008 06:50 AM

Ask your host what they mean exactly by "too many queries" - and what exactly are the database errors you get.

This adds one select query for each function (unread posts, rep comments).
