Thanx for the update!

Great stuff, Abe! Thanks...!

Just to inform, that it is usable also unter 3.5.x; remove the "executionorder=5" in the product and install.

I guess you don't know how to read then! All info you need is in the release post. Just look above.

alessai 07-15-2007 04:05 PM

abe1 great update but we will need the option to manage force members to read a thred alone (in usergroups) cuze i dont want my mods to use it.

ragtek 07-15-2007 04:31 PM

hello,

is it possible to set a minimum amount of time the user has to "read" the thread?
for example, that the thread-window has to be open for 2 minutes before the user can continue?

They only have to read it once.

what i mean is, the duration how long he have to be in the thread befor he can go away
because many go into the thread and then they go away without reading

adonfun 07-15-2007 10:37 PM

Great hack! Clicked installed!

I agree with Ragtek.. would be great if members have to stay for at least a period before they can continue... I look forward to any future updates of this hack. :)

for some members it would help, but if someone don't want to read it, he will still not read it^^

i don't read this things too, but the other admins of my board want that future

2impulsiv 07-16-2007 10:57 AM

Thanks for the update...

Atwal 07-17-2007 02:59 AM

is there a way to edit this so it appears only in the first post?

What appears in the first post?

TCattitude 07-18-2007 10:54 PM

In the previous version, no problem at all.
Then, "invalid input specified" was appear if i try to go to manage force redirects.

I realize that Andreas's "bump/make older a thread" hack was not working too.

If i disable your modification, then "bump/make older thread" works again.
That behavior do not happen with your previous version of this mod.

(By the way, why you don't use the same techniche to do an on-the-fly edit for the template to add the new option, just like Andreas's hack?)

Invalid ID 07-19-2007 02:59 AM

Just noticed and edited both the files.

It's working now, but as I am using vbadvanced, instead of http://www.mysite.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7293

Its link shows http://www.mysite.com/showthread.php?t=7293

That means it misses "/forum"

How to fix that?

Thanks

Goto: http://www.mysite.com/forum/admincp/...ogroup=address and make sure the 2nd setting is correct.

Try changing the order in which our hooks run.

Yeah. I put your plugin using threadmanage_action_switch hook, to execution order 1, and works again.
Thanks for the point ;)

Is this ok?

I am afraid I could not understand what you mean.

Do you mean my setting is ok?

criscokid 07-20-2007 07:24 AM

It would be useful if an admin could specify when this mod kicks in on their forum... say after three days or a week.

When a user signs up he has a lot thrown at him... he signs up, gets the activation email, he activates and then maybe gets a welcome email and / or PM. Usuall the new user is eager to go exploring the site and he may just 'click through' the 'forced thread' or if he does read it may not properly read /absorb what the thread is telling him. He's more likely to read and absorb the message if if was thrown at him at least a day or two after he's confirmed his account.

ragtek 07-20-2007 07:47 AM

my users have a little problem

sometimes the thread has not been found

momo2 07-20-2007 09:54 AM

very usefull... thanks Installed

You have to check into it your self. Maybe it is a permissions problem. Can everyone read the thread?

ragtek 07-20-2007 03:30 PM

yes

Your link is ok. I dont know why it would change though.

bostton1 07-20-2007 05:41 PM

i installed it it works great. I decided to delete the message before all the users viewed it. now they come to the screen "the administrators want you to view a thread before you continue to browse the forum. you can view the thread here". they click it and nothing happens and they cant proceed. i then disable the plugin, when they click the link then they get "no thread specified, please notify the administrator". then they can proceed to the forums. once i reenable the plugin though they get sent back to "the administrators want you to view a threadbefore you continue to browse the forum. you can view the thread here". can i just uninstall and then try again?

That is one way, or you can go into phpmyadmin and remove the row in force_read_thread table.

Enjoy!

My phrase:
