Coders Shack 06-01-2007 12:49 AM

also may be adding digg display for topics on forum display if enough interest.

jamsgra 06-01-2007 01:46 AM

I still just see the Digg button, it doesn't show if the post has already been dugg? How do I add the digg counter?

Thanks

Coders Shack 06-01-2007 01:51 AM

can you link?

dammit, the only way i can test this is on my server, and i got it to work with all my forums.

so the only way i can fix it for other people is if they can give me access to their crap, unless they can fix it themselves and release the fix.

Fireproof 06-01-2007 02:25 AM

Tried the latest version, but on one of my threads, I get the following Error on Page. See screenshot.

I get the same error with the last version in some forums.
I havent tried tried this version yet, but looks like the problem still exists.

Chennai Style 06-01-2007 05:35 AM

I am using firefox, its working well :) Thanks for it.

When I click the DIGG IT, it opens in the same page.
Is there any way to open in a new window ?

I am not good at vb.. less than a month old admin :)

Okay, it's still not working quite right for me.

I can digg a story okay, but (a) it doesn't give that user a digg point, and (b) it doesn't show that it's been dug. But when you try to digg it again, it DOES link up with digg and say "Cool - it's already been dugg."

And here's the link to the thread that is not getting a "digg this thread" button (but the others are):

Thanks *clicks installed*

Is it not compatible with GARS?

rjmjr69 06-10-2007 09:39 PM

Sweet thanks

try using the custom template placements then.

GuaRRand 06-15-2007 11:54 AM

Its working fine on my site.. only small annoying detail i noticed is that the "digg this story" button seems to change sometimes.
Sometimes its a button, sometimes just text or sometimes just another button "digg it".

Since its an externally hosted part, it might be something to do with the diggit site itself..

No big problem though... just weird

you can make your own image, just make sure its the same size as the digg this story one. And just add the url to the image in the ACP options. Not sure what you mean by it being just text, but when its digg it that means that the story has already been dugg.

hichew 06-16-2007 07:20 AM

do i need to install vbSEO before use this diggTopic?

Also I have a suggestion - if you add "&name=" to the query string of the digg submit URL you can automatically add the thread title to the digg submit. Speed the submission up a bit.

Has ^^ this suggestion been added yet?

I'd also like this feature.

I also get this error - but only on some threads. When the error appears, no Digg button is displayed. If the page (thread) loads without an error, I get the digg button displayed.

I would conclude from this that there is an error processing the code to display the digg button.

This occurs even with the default vBulletin style.

duckdodger 06-17-2007 06:22 PM

Is it possible to have the digg button displayed on the news module of vbadvanced? I would like it to appear next to the reply and/or sendtofriend button.

Link to my site

I would conclude from this that there is an error processing the code to display the digg button.

This occurs even with the default vBulletin style.

The error is

Code:

Expected: ')'
This is the line generating the error (from View Source):

Code:

document.write('<A HREF="http://digg.com/submit?phase=2&url=' + location.href +'&title=Deadly twist at the chiropractor's office"><img src="./images/100x20-digg-button.gif" width="100" height="20" alt="Digg!" border="0"/></a>');
and as you can see the title= part contains an apostrophe:

Code:

'&title=Deadly twist at the chiropractor's office
I don't know if this is characteristic of other threads that don't display the button but this should be handled with a "replace" to add a \ before the apostrophe. It's basically a parsing problem.

Alternatively, leave out the thread title from the URL but have the URL open in a new window so that the individual can cut-and-paste into the Digg window from the forum. I would actually prefer this solution for several reasons.

Good find! That's where the error is occurring for me - on my threads where there's an apostrophe in the title (as in "FP's beginner's guide...").

GuaRRand 06-21-2007 11:18 AM

Where do i have to look to remove this?
i checked newreply.php and the templates, but cant find it..

wrong mod... this hack has nothing to do with a wrap.

777connect 06-23-2007 04:10 PM

I have installed and it seems to be working fine. Very easy install. My question is that the "digg this story" button does not show up on my GARS threads. Is there a fix for this?

Coders Shack 06-23-2007 05:10 PM

did you try using the custom replacement:

<!-- diggTopic_diggit -->

place that where you want it to show up in your template.

TheMilkCarton 06-24-2007 07:09 AM

Is it possible to add an "Include" list in addition to the "Exclude" list? I only want this on a few forums and that means typing out a huge list of forums to Exclude.

I thought maybe I could just wrap a conditional around the <!-- diggTopic_diggit --> code in the postbit, but I haven't tried that and I'm not positive it would work.

skepticality 06-25-2007 01:47 PM

Very cool!

Are you going to do this version? :)

John Diver 06-25-2007 10:47 PM

Looking forward to getting this working.

My site is Deuce Ace but it isn't showing up - Should I do anything to my custom style for it?

Thanks

Anyone able to help with my post 2 up?

Still cant get this working on my site.

Thanks

venomx 07-02-2007 01:05 AM

Did you try adding the code yourself for the image to appear?

John Diver 07-02-2007 09:58 AM

Yeah I have the code added - It is showing 0 for the digg count but none of the images are showing.

You can see it here.

Thanks :)

ArashB 07-08-2007 03:53 PM

If you change the url of the digg button, it's going to keep the size of the original button, so your new button will look differently, I recommend you remove the width and height attributes in the button you have used, or put size options for admin control panel.

And This is a good product, thanks for making it

ArashB 07-08-2007 04:10 PM

I made the neccessary changes, I hope you don't mind if I attach the changed file.

project-Buckfas 07-08-2007 06:24 PM

I'm trying to get this to show in vbadvanced but can't get it too work.

I placed the hook in adv_portal_newsbits in many different locations and still havent had any luck! Any ideas?

venomx 07-09-2007 12:16 AM

So no fix for the apostrophe in the title problem?
