To be honest I hate the new style. The old was much better IMO. Why not let us choose which one?

Just a note but you can make it fluid from your UserCP. It's much better fluid and with legacy postbits.

Marco van Herwaarden 01-09-2007 10:40 AM

Why not let us choose which one?

Because the old styles will not work with the new functions anymore, and we have no plans to maintain multiple styles.

Although we do appreciate all constructive feedback, asking for the old styles to return will simply not happen.

Instead you could better focus on suggestions to improve the new style.

style is to cramped for the type of stuff on vb.org. :(

makes it seem all to hectic and harder to read.

Because it technically is only 1 style. The "Style" option in the UserCP, is more somehting like a color-scheme picker. It is all in a single style that gets dynamically adjusted to the users settings.

ok, then why not have a Color-Scheme Chooser near the bottom of the forums?

are you using the wider (fluid) option.

Mark.B 01-09-2007 04:46 PM

Well I think the new look is superb. It's smart and streamlined and modern looking while retaining a distinct vB flavour, more so in fact than the old one did.

I liked the old one but it was starting to look dated, this is much nicer. And the ability to switch posting styles and choose between fixed or fluid is nice too, I have similar functions on my board so it's great to see it here.

Extremely nice work!

Mikecp421 01-09-2007 07:50 PM

looks nice and all the customizations are mad cool but I liked the way it was, it was unique and I got used to it, but I wont stop coming here because of this style.

There was nothing unique about the way it was before. It was just a fluid layout with changes to the color of the tables.

sinisterpain 01-09-2007 08:42 PM

I like the new style and the way the options are easily reachable. Great job!

Smoothie 01-10-2007 01:05 AM

The black stuff, it doesn't look good.

what are you talking about bro?

Smoothie 01-10-2007 01:29 AM

The firstnew.gif icons, the black border below the footer, the black outline on the forum nav buttons.

umm yes it was, the STYLE I used was unique to here but thanks for trying to correct me

sensimilla 01-10-2007 05:49 AM

New site is just outstanding and looks really pro. I think many new features are really useful!
No matter what they say old style was demode.

Thomas P 01-10-2007 10:15 AM

Very nice, good work.

I like the new style, good one.

Kohhal 01-10-2007 10:46 AM

Really like the new style, nice one!

vietfancy 01-10-2007 04:54 PM

i like the old style better. This style that we useing right now has too much hacks installed on it, a lot slower than the old one, confusing me sometimes, made me feel like im living in a box.

For a forum like vb.org, i think its a bad idea to have this skin installed. We need something clean, easy to read, and load fast and simple.

anyway... who i am to tell the staff what to do.

Shazz 01-10-2007 05:09 PM

Votes were pretty close, thought it would be different

ubuntu-geek 01-10-2007 05:11 PM

I like the new style as well. I run into the same issue on my board when I make forum style changes.. the mass cry :) Keep up the good work.. People will get used to it.

esfron 01-10-2007 09:54 PM

As a simple user looking for mods, I don't much care about design. The new design looks very promising. I am sure staff will continue to enhance it over the next few days and weeks.

I am just looking forward to getting the best mods&support possible.

Please calm down sir
If you have read some of the Site Feedback threads it should answer your question

ItsELRey 01-10-2007 10:36 PM

I don't see either of the two

azn_romeo_4u 01-11-2007 09:15 PM

arggg I hate the new style. Everything seems so compact. Why don't vb just let us have th abilite to pick our skin. Man. Bring the blue back !!!!

Well if you never got the peek of the old style I guess you couldn't really give feedback on the old one...

You can increase the width in your UserCP Options to spread things out more.

Mark.B 01-11-2007 10:50 PM

I love the new style. I like to embrace change, and people need to give it a little time while they get used to it.

It's really very good indeed. And I recommend enabling the thread priority colour feature, once you become used to it it makes reading through forums so much easier.

Those who don't like it, make sure you're aware you can go fixed OR fluid, legacy postbit OR "new" postbit, and choose from four colour variations, all in the UserCP (Options). You can make it pretty much how you want.

I also like how the team have listened to comments on the logo and the breadcrumb bar, I think these are better the way they are now.

My only comment at the moment is that graphically the tabs at the top right hand corner don't look quite right, as if they are unfinished. I like the idea of them and would like them to stay but they don't seem to match the sleek look of the rest of the design. They need tidying up a bit.

Brandon Sheley 01-12-2007 01:45 AM

I like the new style alot :)
I love the little things that have changed

Mosh 01-12-2007 05:28 AM

I like the new style also, and even though I know it is not coming back I do miss the Plain Green Style, but hey sometimes to progress forward some things just have to go.

Now a tutorial on how to use one style with multiple CSS files would be great as I am assuming that depending on the selection we make in the UserCP we are having separate CSS files loading instead of having CSS integrated in the database.

Gholsie 01-12-2007 06:58 AM

Where can I get the new style? I love it.

No it will not be made available to general public as we like to have our own unique look, and it contains many vBulletin.org specific features.

Quillz 01-12-2007 02:57 PM

I really like the new design. It looks so fresh and modern, and is much better than the old design.

A few people have asked this
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=136285

MortysTW 01-14-2007 03:20 PM

Don't get me wrong, vbulletin.org fricken rules beyond words.

But as far as this new skin, I think its very pleasing to the eyes as for colors, but I think it needs to be altered a bit.

As the first post of this thread stated, the TABS are pretty damn ugly. Would work on some sites, but just don't look right to me. Not sure why.

But that's no big deal. The part I'm gonna +++++ about is the width of the site. I think the default style should be one that adjusts to the user's monitor. If I'm at 1040x then the tables should be coded so the pages pull out to 1040x. The main reason people kick up their resolution is to get more on their screen at once. By forcing the table widths with this new style, I might as well be running at 800x.

Change it. More at once is better. Less scrolling is ALWAYS better.

And before everyone bites back about how I can go change the style in my UserCP, I understand that. Relax. I don't think users should have to "change" the style of a site to improve it or maximize. Choosing styles should be more for fun, color, or mood preferences. Not to make a site actually function to its full potential.

Okay, I'm getting off my soap box. Who's next?

Noiz Pollution 01-14-2007 03:49 PM

i really don't like it, the whole header feels like it's been squashed and yet the text used is still pretty big, which just looks weird in my opinion, it looks like there's far too much going on and all the colours seem to be fighting for your attention

MortysTW 01-14-2007 03:55 PM

Ya, I kicked the width up to 100% in my usercp > edit options and it definetly improved things. But I think the 100% should be the fault. Not the 785pix as the default.

ArchangelX 01-14-2007 08:45 PM

The only thing I don't like is the cramped area...I wish it could expand a bit more for those of us that use higher resolutions. Other than that...I think it's great!

Oh wait...I didn't know you could do that...in that case...I think it's a great change! The old one was very basic. This one is pretty up-to-date and modern looking.

Dominic 01-15-2007 02:50 PM

I voted for old style cuz this is harder to find some things and hard to get used to, just my opinion :P
