That's what I was talking about - contact your host when you get that error. :)

Try disabling your other hacks one by one and running cron every time, see which one conflicts.

No, that is not possible, as it does not even track specific users.

RS_Jelle 10-06-2006 01:57 PM

A little suggestion:

Add a url and a versioncheck to the product file. Very easy to do and it makes the product management of your site a bit easier :)

Zelda-King 10-07-2006 01:41 PM

This doesn't seem to show the UK. I get shown under the US.

mcyates 10-07-2006 02:24 PM

I get a server 500 error which is weird. I have a shared server so i might not have something installed. But i'm not sure what it might be.

Download the latest package and overwrite the psistats database folder.

perfphysio 10-07-2006 03:41 PM

HI all, I have this hack working nicelt on my vBulletin 3.6.2. The one things the whole hack doesn't seem to mention is what is the actual stats showing me. i.e. for country and region stats, it this the numbers for the current month? Is it overall, it is accumulative until I reset it etc etc.

Also how is that decision made. Is is via the IP of the user when logged in, is it from any visitor via their local IP, is it a resolution of the ISP?

USA always wins out in stats packages due to the generic .com and we all know not everyone with a .com ending is in the USA. The same with .net. If it is users IP then this is somewhat better but if someone can help me understand the actual data this would be great.

Many thanks :)

The country is identified based on the ip address and the ip2country database that the hack package contains.

Thanks, and the stats themselves for the countries and regions? Are they cummulative? Are they for the current month?

akanevsky 10-07-2006 06:45 PM

Cumulative.

perfphysio 10-07-2006 07:11 PM

OK, thanks.

As a suggestion for the future it would be great to have a few options from the top of the page when viewing. e.g. Cummulative stats as standard, quarterly option, and monthly option for both country, referral and top forums and posts would be excellent. I suppose you could work that out from a data datestamp somewhere that we store in the logs or in a table in the database.

Keep up the good work :)

That did the job. Thanks for the quick fix!

GrendelKhan{TSU 10-08-2006 12:23 PM

nice !
installed.

future feature:

* executive summary page.
(general is ok, but would love to see all the stuff laid out on one page - two columns with graphics. perhaps top 3-5 for each stat.)

just a thought. great job anyway. :)

amnesia623 10-09-2006 05:56 AM

Nice job on this one!

Hoffi 10-09-2006 06:25 AM

I just mentioned that this is not fully Phrased. In the Footer Template the Link "Referrer Sites" is Hardcoded.

I would be fine If you can change is for the next release.

Reason I ask is: When I install this I get some strange errors. That means that the forum Logo on top left disappear and my MemberMap (German Addon) won't works. May I ask you: Is this modification really necessary? -Mike

I am getting a "skipping - 0 bytes" error when trying to upload vc.gif.

Seems the file is damaged. I redownloaded and the same thing. Can we have a replacement please (may want to update your next release as well.)

Nandakal 10-13-2006 07:41 AM

Is there any way to get this to work without the LOCK function?

My provider wont turn it on.

-N.

mrderanged 10-17-2006 01:40 AM

Love the mod, but how does it generate the active/inactive # of members? It's not matching up with my forum settings which has active members visiting in the past 90 days.

Thanks

jw00dy 10-17-2006 08:13 AM

Very very nice.

*installed* Nomination for MotM

If the file is damaged in the archive, then it's damaged. If anyone has a non-damaged flag for that country, feel free to contribute.

Yes, but data may get corrupted.

It's counting for 30 days instead. Might change it for next release.

could I suggest make it user changeable, pretty much the same way vB has it setup standard?

I love the countries and regions page :)

If possible, could you guide me in the direction to go, even tho the data might be damaged, im willing to test atleast :)

akanevsky 10-18-2006 08:42 PM

The data is not damaged, the flag is. To test, ask someone from that country to access your site. :)

Download the latest package and overwrite your files. The problem has already come up and it's been fixed without changing the version tag.

akanevsky 10-21-2006 09:29 PM

God bless you, Mike-D. FYI, I can't recall you asking any questions.

Phooey 10-30-2006 01:31 PM

I'm having issues where the Display Colors & Resolutions page isn't showing any data. Everything else is working fine, it's just that page. I've double checked everything and I think I have it installed correctly.

Any suggestions?

You can see my stats page at http://www.digitallywise.com/forums/psistats.php

Lottis 10-30-2006 05:55 PM

Thank you, Psionic Vision.
This was a great product and it works great. No problem at all. Thanks and nominating.

Lottis 10-30-2006 05:56 PM

Hmm, why cant this be nominated?

transitbus 10-30-2006 07:33 PM

Edit NM Can't use this mod due to the lock issue. Oh well, looked good at the time.

Because many hosts including mine don't allow for such things (it also runs mysql 4.0.16). Lock and unlock produce loads (even if minute) on sql servers. I share a server with dozens of other clients so performance is a top concern.

Why not instead find another way that does not require people to contact their host to give them high level rights?

Because that's the only method of locking data.

transitbus 11-01-2006 01:30 AM

Not sure why you need to use locking in the form you do for this type of database but seeing how many of us can not have that access (no everyone runs their own mysql server) and almost no other add on here uses this method, I would think you would choose a different way to make this compatible.

and I am going to quote mysql.com because I like to back up my statements with evidence ;)

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/lock-tables.html

Quote:

Normally, you do not need to lock tables, because all single UPDATE statements are atomic; no other thread can interfere with any other currently executing SQL statement. However, there are a few cases when locking tables may provide an advantage:
  • If you are going to run many operations on a set of MyISAM tables, it is much faster to lock the tables you are going to use. Locking MyISAM tables speeds up inserting, updating, or deleting on them. The downside is that no thread can update a READ-locked table (including the one holding the lock) and no thread can access a WRITE-locked table other than the one holding the lock.
    The reason some MyISAM operations are faster under LOCK TABLES is that MySQL does not flush the key cache for the locked tables until UNLOCK TABLES is called. Normally, the key cache is flushed after each SQL statement.
  • If you are using a storage engine in MySQL that does not support transactions, you must use LOCK TABLES if you want to ensure that no other thread comes between a SELECT and an UPDATE. The example shown here requires LOCK TABLES to execute safely:

Code:

LOCK TABLES trans READ, customer WRITE;
SELECT SUM(value) FROM trans WHERE customer_id=some_id;
UPDATE customer
  SET total_value=sum_from_previous_statement
  WHERE customer_id=some_id;
UNLOCK TABLES;

Without LOCK TABLES, it is possible that another thread might insert a new row in the trans table between execution of the SELECT and UPDATE statements.
You can avoid using LOCK TABLES in many cases by using relative updates (UPDATE customer SET value=value+new_value) or the LAST_INSERT_ID() function. See Section 1.9.5.3, “Transactions and Atomic Operations”.
You can also avoid locking tables in some cases by using the user-level advisory lock functions GET_LOCK() and RELEASE_LOCK(). These locks are saved in a hash table in the server and implemented with pthread_mutex_lock() and pthread_mutex_unlock() for high speed. See Section 12.9.4, “Miscellaneous Functions”.
