Paul M 01-02-2007 10:54 PM

That's correct, there is no permission checking in this version.

wii 01-03-2007 05:23 AM

Is there a new version on the way ?

Paul M 01-03-2007 05:36 AM

Nope.

wii 01-03-2007 06:07 AM

Ok, would it be hard to change current version to check for permissions ?

Thanks

Paul M 01-03-2007 08:08 AM

No, I don't think it's very hard - however, this is basically a very old 3.0 mod that has been ported to 3.5 & then 3.6 simply because quite a few people use it. I no longer use it, not is it ever going to get any new features. When 3.5 came along it was basically replaced by the Unread Posts modification.

wii 01-03-2007 11:29 AM

Ok, so does the Unread Posts MOD have the permission check ?

Paul M 01-03-2007 05:21 PM

Yes.

wii 01-04-2007 07:05 AM

I will take a look.

Thanks

technishawn 01-09-2007 09:13 PM

nice. I like it... I only used the reputation part though... I am using the unread post mod so the new post modifcation is unnecessary.

cheekymonk3y 01-29-2007 06:02 PM

man, its taken me ages to find this hack & the new posts in welcome block hack....but worth the time for sure

EDIT: oh, this one does both and makes that other hack void

Not exactly - be aware of the difference - this is new posts, the other is unread posts. They are not the same thing.

mamashid 01-31-2007 02:35 AM

I may be missing something here, I cant seem to be able to find the navigation bar template to make the changes.

mamashid 01-31-2007 02:50 AM

I made the changes still not working!!

mamashid 01-31-2007 12:18 PM

anybody?

Paul M 01-31-2007 05:23 PM

You're not going to get much help unless you give details, I'm not psychic. :)

What doesn't work, what happens (or doesn't happen), link (test login) ......

mamashid 01-31-2007 06:01 PM

I got it working, thank you!!!

deezelpope 03-06-2007 08:30 AM

Installed...thanks much!!

I tried to "mark as installed" AND I tried to vote, but neither would allow me to. I'll try again later. Thanks again!

lunarmodule 03-19-2007 12:28 AM

Awesome, Paul. I've looked for 4 mods I wanted to install over the last couple days and all of them are done by you! :) Top work.

Question though. I have it installed and working but I would like to only use the reputation portion and disable the "new posts" part. In the 3.5 version disabling was easy, in the plugin manager, but I don't see the same ability in this version.

Is it possible to disable the "new posts" part and leave the "new reputation comments" part active?

lunarmodule 03-19-2007 12:40 AM

Nevermind. Got it. Durrr. :/

Thanks again.

The Notorious 03-22-2007 03:39 PM

Nice hack, installed.

ePrOmD 03-30-2007 01:51 PM

i?ve installed it on vb 3.6.4 (and i?ve marked it as installed :D jeje)
but i?ve the following problem.. the new post counter. seams not to update the real state of the unread posts :S

for example...

a user post ... the counter show 1 post unread
another user post ... the counter show 2 post unread
if, i post too ............... the counter show 3 post unread? :S

if i read the 3 post.. the counter go on showing the same number : 3
if i loggout my sesion.. when i loggin again.. the counter show the real number of unread posts: 0

can U help me?? i?ll estimate a lot! tks!

Paul M 03-30-2007 04:41 PM

Please read post #91.

ePrOmD 03-31-2007 06:56 PM

OOO sorry!! :$ , and I am grateful for you for indicating myself where to find the help.

Now I ask U the following thing: it is possible to annul the new messages counter to enable a hack of unread messages counter.
Or to adapt some blocks in your hack in order that instead of new messages it could show unread messages?

Thank you very much!

Paul M 03-31-2007 11:52 PM

For unread posts you need this ;

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=123886

ePrOmD 04-01-2007 01:08 AM

yes i know about that hack.. but i wanna get the new reputation report, and the unread post counter :D, but not the new posts..
it s possible to do that?

thanks paul!

Paul M 04-01-2007 10:32 AM

There is no released version that will do that.

However, if you install both, you can turn off the new posts display in this mod, so just the new reputation is displayed, and the other mod will display the unread posts.

rjmjr69 04-01-2007 01:37 PM

If I do not use the latest post part of the template mod does that affect anything? It display's properly and the site seems to work correctly.

Paul M 04-01-2007 04:00 PM

I don't quite follow what you mean. There is an option in the ACP to turn of each half of the mod, just use that, otherwise you may still be running the SQL.

Ah that I did not notice. thank you . What I should have explained was that I did not include in the template the first part of the edit. "New Posts"
The real reason is with my custom skin and other edits. I could not find the right place to insert the code I tried everywhere and I figured its sorta redundant anyhow. That information is already displayed via other add on's hacks....
So I would be safe to assume that not installing that portion of the template edit and turning that portion off in the admcp would be ok and have no ill affects?

Thank you for a great addition

glorify 04-01-2007 05:49 PM

Used the New posts portion ;)

Aimee1969 04-28-2007 10:44 AM

thanks....my members were requesting the rep comments be displayed so they didn't have to keep checking. Good mod!!

antiher0 05-01-2007 12:13 AM

just what i was looking for :)

mmmender 05-07-2007 05:56 AM

Problem........

My welcome box already has a hack, it currently looks like this:

Quote:

Welcome, mmmender.
223 Unread Posts since your last visit.
You last visited: Yesterday at 7:07 AM
Private Messages: Unread 9, Total 124.
I was unable to do step 2 of your instructions......

Quote:

Step 2.

In the Navbar template ;

Find ;

<if condition="$show['pmwarning']"><br /><strong><phrase 1="$vbphrase[pmpercent_nav_compiled]">$vbphrase[your_pm_box_is_x_full]</phrase></strong></if>

Add below ;

<if condition="$show[rcount]"><br />$bbuserinfo[rcount]</if>
Because where it tells me to find......

Quote:

In the Navbar template ;

Find ;

<if condition="$show['pmwarning']"><br /><strong><phrase 1="$vbphrase[pmpercent_nav_compiled]">$vbphrase[your_pm_box_is_x_full]</phrase></strong></if>
This part does not exist in my navbar template.

All I really want anyway is the display new rep comments to appear in the welcome box, I can live without the new posts part of the hack.

Can you provide any assistance please? This really is the hack I've been waiting for and would love to get it working!

Thanks in advance,

Leesa

(btw, running 3.6.5)

Paul M 05-07-2007 10:38 AM

If that isn't there then you must have something similar. Without access to your template there really isn't much I can tell you.

How about I give you access to my admincp? Check your PM's for details.

I would really appreciate the help!

Zerovb 05-07-2007 12:52 PM

Thanks Paul Great Mod As Usual

You are not using 3.6 templates, your navbar still seems to be a 3.5 version so you will need to look for the following ;

Quote:

<if condition="$show['pmstats']"><br /><phrase 1="$vbphrase[unread_x_nav_compiled]" 2="$vbphrase[total_x_nav_compiled]" 3="$session[sessionurl_q]">$vbphrase[private_messages_nav]</phrase></if>

Nimrod. 05-07-2007 07:21 PM

Installed this but gave it a bit of a diffrent wording. It now reads:
Quote:

Welcome, Adam.
You last visited: Today at 10:00 AM
Private Messages: Unread 0, Total 129.
New Rep Comments: 2
I took out the new posts because I have that located somewhere else on the front page.

Great mod, thanks.

*clicks installed*
