That should be indicated in the pdf file.

Also don't forget to set the APPROVAL in the settings. Usergroup permissions are also important.

It's all in the FILE.

Hope this helps

Make sure you upload the images to all your styles.

Also in the backend (admincp) you have to select what image is linked to what usergroup and if the usergroup should appear or not.

I cannot simulate the error on any of my testplatforms (windows and fedora).

Any special settings in the .htaccess????

MediaHound 09-19-2006 10:18 PM

I have a user who could not add her entry because she is on WebTV. She asked me to do it for her, this "Admin Log In As User 2.0" hack came in very handy:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=122939

Maybe this will help some of you guys!

:)

rockethobbit 09-20-2006 06:53 AM

From where does the map pull the location information for each user? Does the user supply the location and if so how? or does it automatically pull it from IP?

Reece^B 09-20-2006 07:36 AM

They now show, all good. Except the map takes a wile to load. This normal?

cyberlife 09-21-2006 04:28 AM

find. in functions_vbgooglemapme.php change encoding markers.xml

rezapci 09-21-2006 11:10 AM

is there any one responsible to support this hack?

The user visits the map and clicks a link to add their entry.
They then find their spot on the map by clicking, dragging, and zooming.
The form automatically updates with the latitude and longitude that they pick, they then add their title and text, and click to submit it.
You can auto-approve them or manually approve them.
Nothing to do with their IP unfortunately. It would be cool to see the map get them close by using their IP, then let them pinpoint the proper spot.

Thank you for this idea, I tried it and it worked perfectly!

It appears there is a name conflict.

I *think* it's because he's got the same name "customadminperms" as settings for both editions. I altered the administrator table and added customadminmeperms as settings and I reflected the name change in the includes/bitfield_vbgooglemam.xml and no more error.

don't go and to the same until someone says it's ok :-)

Montoyafan 09-22-2006 08:27 AM

Hi,

how do i install the vbgooglemapme_deutsch.xml for german translation?

Skedoozy 09-22-2006 11:43 PM

The only Zoom setting that seems to work is what you set as Default. I've changed the zoom level for when you click a link to someones location and it just goes tot he default map. It doesnt zoom in, even though I have that set to zoom level 6, or even center on their location.

Other than that it's working wonderfully. Any help with the problem?

daylight 09-24-2006 04:00 PM

Daylight,

Don't forget to check the autoapprove settings, the usergroup settings and configure which usergroups you want to appear.

EasyTarget 09-26-2006 06:02 PM

I just upgraded to 2.5.2, thanks for your hard work.

One note, I have many secondary usergroups and I choose to only show about 4 groups on the map page but whenever I install or update the hack it has all markers set to display by default so I must edit each one, one by one. Would it be possible in future versions for it not to revert those settings or to have all markers set to not display by default?

I also still have the problem where clicking on the user's link $post[findme]just brings me to the main map page and not specifically to the users location. The same thing happens when I list the users then click 'show on map'

I'm seeing this problem too, otherwise a great mod.

VaaKo 09-29-2006 03:42 PM

I installed it and it works well but when I added an entry and approved it from admincp, my entry doesn't show!
I went to "list users" and click on "show on map" and still nothing happens!

pdblizzard 09-30-2006 09:27 PM

I just upgraded -- I love this hack and so do my members. Thanks stonyarc.

I had the missing pin images too, had the drop shadows but no pins. Even though I double checked that all files had uploaded; had all the usergroups set to their colors; and had group and file permissions and cron jobs where they were supposed to be.

I fixed it by uploading all the files again, and then then my pins appeared.

I'd also love to see an option to suppress the display of certain user groups. I don't want my members to know how I have them all categorized ;)

Same.. as stated above. Would be nice if this was addressed. Having the link there might as well just be a link to the googlemap. :/

smoknz28 10-01-2006 10:13 PM

Very nice! ;)

I've installed this on my site however, when I click on the Googlemap Me link on the navbar, I get a message saying I do not have permission.

I have not touched the permissions since the install. I've entered my map key.

Just confused on this one....any help is appreciated.

Yup, it's official....I'm a dummy.... All is well and we are enjoying this awesome mod!

Thanks for sharing this one with us. ;)

Hey guys,

I found that my postbit was getting a little cluttered. To fix this, one of the housekeeping items I did was to replace the standard postbit "Location:" phrase variable with the one for the Googlemap link.

1. In postbit or postbit_legacy find:

Code:

<if condition="$post['field2']"><div>$vbphrase[location_perm]: $post[field2]</div></if>
replace the vbphrase:

Code:

$vbphrase[location_perm]
With this phrase for the map link:

Code:

$post[findme]
The resulting code is this:

Code:

<if condition="$post['field2']"><div>$post[findme]: $post[field2]</div></if>
It now looks like this:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/10/17.jpg

EDIT: I also edited the phrase "vbgooglemapme_findme" to say "Location" instead of "My Location"

AyeCapn 10-02-2006 08:21 PM

hmmm... but how to get it to display the word "Location" if they haven't added a point to the map yet....

Skedoozy 10-02-2006 08:31 PM

Or better yet have the Location link actually go to that persons location so it wasn't basically just a link to your google map!!

;)

This problems never going to be addressed. Grrr

daylight 10-02-2006 09:41 PM

i have uninstalled this at the end as there is no help or support to go through step 7 onwards. and thanks for the support you given me in pm but i don't think this is not for me :) thanks anyway...

What I would like to do is have it display a small icon instead of a text link ("My location") in the postbit. I would like to have this icon be the "button" that is pushed to cause the map to come up and display that persons marker.

We had the same thing, we have those nice little icons for msn, aim, etc.. and wanted to add a nice image for map, instead of that text.

What to do:
go to ur forum-database.
Find in table phrases (or vb3_phrases, whatever u have) the record with the varname: vbgooglemapme_findme
If u found that record, edit the text from: My location to something like: <img src="images/globe.gif" border=0 title="My location" />
Save it and u're done there...

U'll notice nothing changed in the forum yet.. That's because that weird cashe or w/e isn't updated.
To update this, go in ur adminpanel to search phrases and search for <img src="images/globe.gif" border=0 title="My location" />
Then press the edit-button.
And after that click the save-button. (nothing changed, just press save)

From now on u'll see the image ;)

PS, instead of image, u can use other html, like <button onclick=...>My location</button> if u want a button ;)

If u can't access ur db, u can edit all ur html in teh postbit-template of course..

We also noticed, that when u add ur location, and use html, like <br /> it parses it all wrong, and u won't see ur icon on them map ;)

:bunny:

Now we got the following problem
When u added urself it goes fine..
But when u want to edit ur location, the following things are missing/empty:
- The map to zoom in with is gone
- The BB-code text-fields are empty.

Anyone got a solution ?
I think it is in the vbgooglemapme_display_yourlocation template...
