Sorry I had uploaded an old zip. This one should be fine.

thank you, now it works ;)

dcasux 12-03-2006 10:17 PM

Hey there, Stonyarc,

Great product.

Just an FYI, your version # didn't change in the xml...I edited it from 1.0.3 to 1.0.4 so it displays right.

One question though, is there a way to have multiple starting maps?

Perhaps map categories with different zooms etc?

Some of the maps I need are VERY local, and some are very far apart. It would be nice to have separate maps or, at least separate lat/long with zooms.

Thanx again!

ncangler 12-04-2006 10:22 AM

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet or not but I would love to have the ability to create URL paths to different Map Marker setups. There are multiple ways I can use this great mod on my site but it would be a mess to show them all at once. My site is limited to the state of North Carolina and currently I am showing the location of site "blog reports". I'd like to be able to show boat ramp locations also and then be able to create a html link to both of those map marker configurations ("Blog Reports" link/"Boat Ramp" link). I hope I'm making sense here. Thanks again for a great vb addon!

It would be great if clicking on one of these categories would highlight only the items matching that category on the map and hide the others. Perhaps you could add a "show" label to the front of these the also include another category for "show all", which would possibly be the default display.

I agree, but I would also like to make a marker a member of multiple categories.

im migrating my server currently, and upon doing this i get this error saying "Cannot open XML File"

I tried upgrading and installing the new 1.04 product and that didn't seem to fix things. Any ideas?

Also I noticed in the settings that it still says vbgooglemaps 1.03 and not 1.04. Is that correct (i mean correct that it didn't update the version)? The product says 1.04.

Are the permissions for the spotmarkers.xml file set to 777?

ncangler 12-05-2006 11:12 AM

I received a message from someone that had been added to our invitation list and sent a couple of emails. They indicated that the "opt out" link did not work unless you were a registered member on the site. Could that be? How can we fix that?

ncangler 12-05-2006 11:23 AM

Okay I just did a test and confirmed that the "Opt Out" link in the invitation email results in the
Quote:

You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try again.
2. You may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
3. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
How can I get rid of this message so non-members can actually opt out?

NOTE: I apologize as I just realized these two messages are in the wrong forums! I need more sleep. Sorry!

firefox100 12-05-2006 11:23 AM

Two problems:
1.- We cannot mark from Iexplorer, the mark is entered but this doesn't come out in screen. With Firefox works well.
2.- The groups assigned to mark cannot mark, only the administrator.

For everything the rest, great product Stonyarc, of the best in the year. :D

i'm just new to this wonderful hack.

my question is about zoom feature for links.
is it right that the zoom link number such as

Code:

vbgooglemaphse.php?lat=53.61817207375609&lng=10.097637176513672&zoom=8
has no effect while the default zoom factor is
i.e. " 5 " shown for that link above ?

(same behavior /w googlemap me)

NathanLedet 12-23-2006 01:54 AM

I had this up and working fine on vb 3.5.4

I just upgraded to 3.6.4 and now it says my API key is registered for a different web site. Do I need to download and and install 1.0.4 again? If so, I've already got a lot of content on the map...how do i go about installing but not overwriting all of the info? the instructions say to make sure "overwrite" is set to yes, but that was for an upgrade to 1.0.4...just a little confused. Thanks for any help :)

dibbz 12-25-2006 07:38 PM

I see that it does not sanitise the input of the coordinates before inserting into the database. Here I just copied and pasted the coordintes from google earth, which contain ' and ".

MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '55.37"S','152°16'50.88"E','http://www.roverpark.com/','','',
'1','1167024388')' at line 6

When I click "show on map" from "list elements" it just shows the default location every time, although the URL it is requesting seems to be valid.

It would be nice if it accepted these and could also import a "link to this page" maps.google.com url to make it easy to add stuff.

Thanks!

sNator 12-28-2006 01:07 PM

This hack don't work together with vbAdvanced for me.
I have created a custom page in vba to display a right column on the pages I select, but when I add the necesary code in vbgooglemaphse.php
PHP Code:

define('VBA_PORTAL'true);
define('VBA_PAGE''vbforum');

then the map don't show up and I get this error in IE
Line : 980
Char: 3
Error: GMap is undefined
Code: 0

No error is displayed in FF except the dashboard table don't show up right.

I can list Elements and other pages but not the map.

Amiga Harrison 01-05-2007 12:34 AM

I'm running vB 3.6.4 and hadn't noticed there was a 3.6 version of Hotspot edition when I installed the 3.5 version this week.

It works perfectly but I want to know what are the actual differences between the 3.5 and 3.6 version of this 1.0.4 release? Especially considering the 3.5 version I currently have installed works perfect with vB 3.6.4

Defkalion 01-07-2007 10:28 AM

This is a great mod, many thanks to the author.

I installed it successfully on my 3.6.4 version, but I have problems inserting markers with greek characters. I use Googlemaps for my job as well, and have made quite a few applications with it. The only thing that's needed for other languages with weird character (like Greek) to work, is to declare the encoding in the XML file. For example Greek is ISO-8859-7 . Problem is, everytime a user inserts a marker in the map, the XML file is automatically re-generated (I suppose), and the encoding value returns to ISO-8859-1.

Is there any way around this? Has anyone else had a similar characters encoding problem? I believe that the problem lies not only in changing this value in the markers XML file, but also in some way when the module is "inserting" a marker's info in the XML, it does so through ISO-8859-1.

Can anyone elaborate on this?

Again, thanks for a great mod.

Finster 01-10-2007 11:15 PM

Stoney.

I am not really versed on this, so I was wondering if you ever do installs of this mod for people on their vbulletins?

I am running 3.6.4. I was wondering if this threads mod is the same one as I see here

Anyway, I was wondering if you ever install this mod for users who would make a paypal donation of whatever you want to call it.

Thanks!

coderphp 01-10-2007 11:22 PM

installed thanx

Amiga Harrison 01-10-2007 11:30 PM

Finster, it's very easy to install this mod if you follow the clear instructions included.

And personally I don't think it is the same mod as the one you are linking too. Although obviously both use the Google Maps API.

Finster 01-10-2007 11:34 PM

Hello Amiga,

That's easy for you to say! lol Most people here were breastfed on PHP formula or something. I can barely find my way around adding a new menu link in the navbar after staring at vbulletins forum instructions for hours!

bada_bing 01-11-2007 02:08 AM

This hack is kinda played out and very outdated in my opinion. Its lacking lots of features like the zip code definition and the ability to move the hotspots to either side top or bottom, nothing had been done to this hack in months maybe over a year.

Finster 01-11-2007 04:14 AM

Ok, so what is better then?

I actually want to be able to control what members might post as a hot spot or pin or whatever you want to call it.

So lets say a particular business in the world caters to a particular type of traveler on my board. I approach the particular business, and for a fee, they pay for us to put a destination pin on the Google map. If any user can do the same thing, they can override our ability to charge a fee for the service we offer to the particular business to be listed on the map.

Hello all !

Great mod, thank you very much ! For my first mod installed, that's great... but I have a problem to integrate it in vbadvanced portal. Just the same problem below :

I don't see where is the solution... a wrong path due to the include in a vbadvanced page ? But all is fonctionnal (listing, data, pictures...) except the map.

Thank you very much if you can help me.

Stonyarc,

First and foremost, great mod. I have not installed it yet but it appears to be great. I have two suggestions that would improve the mod (IMHO). Naturally, I am being selfish.

1. Put the data table (List Elements) in-line below the map, not on another page. In addition, as the filters are applied, update the map that would show above them.

2. Attachments. Allow for a third Tab to include attachments. I need the ability to allow a member the option of uploading a GPS file and would like to provide access to the GPS file along with the photos and such.

I love this mod and just agree with the above poster about listing the elements below the map and not on another page.

Also is there a way that I can chenge "elements" to a better descriptive word?

Finally, I have the following at the bottom of the map:

Have these security changes been added already?

I also have a couple of other questions (in addition to my last post).
Is there a way to let people know not to expect the pushpin to appear immediately. Many members have emailed me thinking that it's not working! I would have thought that there'd have been a message if pins had to be approved?

Also I received an email with a db problem earlier today which relates to this hack, do you know what it means? Thanks:

OlivierJ 01-19-2007 08:54 AM

Hello there,

I would like to sort the list of data by other than category (by the title, for exemple)... is it possible easily ?

And I think too it would be a good idea to have the elements below the map... in the same page.

dcasux 02-02-2007 01:44 AM

I had the same problem with the version number..I downloaded 1.0.4 update, yet the install said 1.0.3. The solution is in the xml.

Edit the xml in your favorite text editor and change the version to 1.0.4. Do a find on 1.0.3 to find the wrong code. Not surprisingly, the text you're looking for is just below that.

Edit the xml, save it, then reinstall the xml.

Very simple fix for those who are having probs seeing the menu in the admin cp.

1) Login to your FTP account and download your config.php file. You should find it in your includes directory.

2) Find the following:

PHP Code:

//    ****** SUPER ADMINISTRATORS ******
//    The users specified below will have permission to access the administrator permissions
//    page, which controls the permissions of other administrators
$config['SpecialUsers']['superadministrators'] = '1'

Where is has the ID of the users allowed to view all admin areas make sure your user ID is there. If it not then add it like this:

PHP Code:

//    ****** SUPER ADMINISTRATORS ******
//    The users specified below will have permission to access the administrator permissions
//    page, which controls the permissions of other administrators
$config['SpecialUsers']['superadministrators'] = '1,2'

See the difference?

Save the file and upload it into your includes directory after you delete the other config.php file. You should now see the menu right at the top of the menu now.

This mod has a "Dashboard" that allows one to input coordinates.

Does anyone have experience modifying this mod so that instead of a coordinate thing, it has "Legend" box that shows different map "pins" of different colors that are Admin definable and looks something like this

I am looking for an expert who will do this for pay. StonyArc?

engineco16 02-13-2007 12:26 AM

In the user guide it mentions being able to add additional photos in the details page for a marker. I don't see it am I missing something?
