Hmm, I have a hidden moderators forum with hundreds of posts that don't count to the moderator's post count. In your utility they are being counted. My moderators are hidden from view and moderate as a bord and we let anonymous usernames be used to do the necessary moderation. This utility virtually identifies them as moderators as they have hundreds more posts than show andmy forum is less than 28 days old, hence the problem.

Paul M 10-09-2006 01:12 PM

Well I'm afraid the way it works is not going to change - about the only thing you could do is not include the moderators usergroup in the count (that is an option) - however, that assumes they are in their own primary usergroup and members might then wonder why those users never appear. If that's no good then I this hack is not for you.

Nice mod, as usual.

Will this work on VB3.5.4 or do I need older version? I tried to install it, but it crapped up on me with this error:

The install entered into some type of a loop, making the [................] longer and longer and never quitting.

Paul M 10-17-2006 06:08 PM

You cannot install this version on 3.5 since it's for 3.6 - there is a seperate 3.5 version.

dendrob 10-17-2006 06:37 PM

Funny, you beat me to it...I just came here to tell you to ignore it as I found the 3.5 hack. Thanks a bunch.

Paul M 10-26-2006 08:00 AM

Hmm, my copyright message has gone walkies on your forum ........

webgeek247 10-26-2006 08:53 PM

Hi, Paul M!

I've installed this hack and the top posters link appears in quick links and all the info shows up ok on the page that loads up, but how do I get the custom info to appear at the bottom of my forums (home display)

eg like bradhaskins has done http://www.worldlawdirect.com/forum/index.php?

My forums are here

http://www.djpassion.co.uk/forums/mi...?do=topposters

chris

webgeek247 10-26-2006 09:03 PM

Lol, my bad... its ok I’ve just realised that it's a different hack what Brad used for the bottom of his forums

Err, is there anyway of showing the top 10 posters in a box kinda section at the bottom of the forums though? Or does the top posters feature only in appear in the quick links

Paul M 10-26-2006 10:54 PM

Do you mean the 'Top 5 Stats' stuff ? - Yes, That is another hack that he has installed.

Not sure I understand your second question - you can manually add a link wherever you want.

Paul M 10-27-2006 12:27 AM

You would need a seperate modification to do that.

One of my members pointed out to me that column 3 should be 14 days instead of 28 since 1 month is already listed in the next column.

In the admin I switched column 3 to 14 days and it's not changing. It's still 28.

NVM, I see now I have to edit a phrase.

Paul M 10-30-2006 05:17 PM

JFYI, The 'this month' and '28 days' columns are not the same thing (view them on Nov 1st ;)).

Snake 10-31-2006 12:24 PM

Paul is there a way to get rid of the '28 days' column because I find it very useless? I don't need it when I've got the monthly column, you know.

Paul M 10-31-2006 01:21 PM

You cannot.

See also the post above yours.

ociosos 10-31-2006 04:40 PM

cool thank you!!

:p

friscogal 11-01-2006 03:14 AM

thanks paul!

Doglet 11-11-2006 12:51 AM

This is a great utility, but it has started a fair amount of "post whoring" on my forums, while users try to break 200 posts a day and so on. Is there a way I could make this utility visible only to certain user groups - I am thinking of moderators and administrators? That way, we know what is going on, while normal users cannot see it.

Doglet 11-11-2006 01:01 AM

Where can I find the QuickLinks template to get rid of the Top Posters link? I have a link on the navbar already.

Paul M 11-11-2006 01:26 AM

Disable the plugin labelled "Top Posters (1)".

iran.gs 11-11-2006 02:32 PM

Installed Excelent thanks

Apfelfrucht 11-11-2006 06:02 PM

This is awesome but i need to upgrade my vB 3.6.2 first better ;)

Thanks A lot Paul !!

tobybird 11-20-2006 10:01 PM

Thanks Paul!

dennisuello 11-27-2006 04:56 PM

This is great, I've had installed for a while now. But I just noticed that the Quick Links link doesn't work from CMPS page that's outside of the forum directory. However, Quick Links link work from a PhotoPost Gallery page, that also installed outside of the forum directory. misc.php is listed in the Navbar Replacements. Any help?

litfoo 11-30-2006 05:07 PM

Installed and working very well thanks Paul!

Saw that it adds the link under 'Quick Links' and noticed in the previous posts that one has to manually add it into the 'Navbar' template in order for it to appear on the main page

I know it maybe a pain to a experienced Vbulletin guy like yourself, but I am sure that many other users (myself included) would greatly appreciate a simple step by step guide of how and what to insert in the navbar template for it to appear on the main page

yes, i know that many people are using different themes, but how about starting with the default vbulletin one

Hope you can help and thanks again for the great mod

Qatarinet 11-30-2006 08:46 PM

Thank you Paul M

I have question, can I make that count only by threads not by posts?

Paul M 11-30-2006 09:24 PM

No, you would need to rewrite it to do that.

alawee.blawee 12-03-2006 11:17 AM

thx for that lovely hack but i had a problem with putting it in the navbar
coz it didn't work

any help?

KURTZ 12-03-2006 11:25 AM

thx Paul :)

just INSTALLED on 3.6.4

Masiello 12-14-2006 09:24 AM

Thank you Paul!
It's possible to add additional user group? I have some special user group on my forum like "User premium" ,"Special Users" ecc.. how can I add they?

Paul M 12-14-2006 05:35 PM

The settings are in vBulletin Options (Top Posters Section).

Makc666 12-18-2006 02:54 PM

As my ideology s "translate everything you can" it will be cool if you also add a translation string here:

Code:

Version $version : ? Paul Marsden $copyrightyear

I made it so :)
Code:

$vbphrase[version] $version : ? Paul Marsden $copyrightyear

+ Added this one:
Code:

                        <phrase name="version" date="1152000000" username="Paul M" version="3.24">Version</phrase>

Paul M 12-18-2006 02:58 PM

LOL, I might update it locally (so it's part of any future version) but I'm not releasing an update just for that. :)

mtlcore 12-22-2006 01:03 AM

Is there a way to exclude posts that are made in a certain forum (ie: offtopic forum)? Thanks, great hack! Installed.

Paul M 12-22-2006 04:48 AM

Nope, that is not a feature.

KURTZ 12-25-2006 03:51 PM

updated

thx Paul :)

adonfun 12-27-2006 10:02 PM

Thanks!! Installed it and clicked installed.

Little bit strange question maybe, but where can I see the Top Poster link somewhere inside the forum to check the Top Posters?

Paul M 12-28-2006 02:07 AM

As it says ;
