Please provide full details of what you have done and in what way it isn't working. I cannot attempt to debug without a bug.

However I got lost in step 3 and had to read some of the posts. I suggest in future to try and be elementary as possible. A lot of us forum manager are new to this thing.
Thank you so much.

Exactly the same for me :)

Shaolin 01-29-2007 11:12 AM

Hi Guys,

How can I add this option onto my registration ? So that a user will have to specify on reg whether he is a male or female. It should be editable in profile too.

.

Kiros72 02-12-2007 01:53 AM

Hi Shaolin :)

To make it display upon registration go into the User Profile Field Manager and edit the gender field. Look down to the "Field Required" selection. It contains a list of options that will allow you to require that field and/or show it at registration and/or to require it upon each profile edit or not.

Peace :D

I used this but tweaked it. We have a crafting forum and I wanted to, instead of gender, reflect the type of craft the user did. So I uploaded different icons to represent the crafts. :) I tried to do it multiple item, but that didn't work so I just make the .gifs to represent more than one item as needed. I also moved it to have it show up underneath the username/title area.

It worked. Awesome.

'Been wanting something like this for a while. It was a bit of a struggle for me to get it to where I wanted, but I learned a bit in the process. Thanks so much for sharing this mod.

tspepper 03-18-2007 11:12 PM

Works great, I just intalled it. For those that have issues with the .gif's showing up, the file name is CASE sensitive. Make sure you call it Male.gif and Female.gif not male.gig and female.gif.

BillieJoe 03-24-2007 08:39 AM

installed. :)

deezelpope 03-26-2007 10:19 AM

Cute! Installed...thanks!:D

mat.knott 03-27-2007 05:44 PM

is there any way to make it so that you can make new forums where only a set gender can see them?

hazkant 04-07-2007 04:46 AM

My forum's in Russian. Installed plugin. Few bugs: I had to give Man and Woman english names, how would I change them to Russian? I could only change word 'Gender' to russian.
But I still have to display 'man' or 'woman', because if I change to Russian - gender image won't display at all.
Also, when I click on profiles fo the users - I see 'Gender: Male' or 'Gender: Female' instead of 'Gender - image'.

I have just went through the installation of this hack but it doesn't seem to show up on the posts or in the edit profile section in the user cp.

Did I do something wrong or missed something out. I was a little confused with weather to edit the postbit or the postbit_legacy so I did both.

Apart from that I did everything in the install instructions.

Imbellis 04-20-2007 10:15 PM

It?s not working :( ...

I have followed the instruction step by step. There are no male or female gifs displayed, the only change I can see is the text "Male" in my profile.

I?ve changed the postbit template, postbit_legacy template and the memberlist_resultsbit template. The gifs are in the /images/misc archive.

???????

nice one works good sweet as a nut

rungok 04-21-2007 09:23 PM

For a gimmick I just added another "gender" called "Transvestite" or "Transe" as I called it. Here is the the pictures I used for this "gender". The install-instructions are the same. You just add a value called "trans" besides "male" and "female" and upload the images to the same place as the other. No other modifications are needed.

basilrath 04-21-2007 10:21 PM

the gender hack is nice with little icons

Dotara 05-06-2007 04:45 PM

Hi,

I've installed it but it's not showing up the image for the Gender and the Gender fonts color is black instead of Grey. I want it Grey as my other fonts are Grey like Join Date, Posts, Status.

I've attached an image, please check and hope I'll get solution for it.

pericolosogr 05-07-2007 11:31 AM

Hello,
i have both choices male & female written in greek so i followed all the steps...and in the end i renamed the .gif for both male and female so that they will be matching the filed options...
but the is no image in the gander field?
is there something else i need to change?

Go to:

AdminCP,
->Language and Phrases,
->Phrase Manager. Make sure your Type set to GLOBAL. Mine is automatically like that.

At the bottom of the screen that opens up, click "add new phrase."

Then type the varname and the text the way Kerry Anne has it and save.

Installed on vbulletin 3.6.7 PL1, works nicely. Thanks for the mod.

Dimitrio 06-08-2007 02:58 PM

It didn't work for me..., using vbulletin 3.6.7

iVox 06-08-2007 06:04 PM

In MSIE or Firefox you right click on the red X (the placeholder that displays when any image on a web page is broken or missing) then left click PROPERTIES.

You'll see information such as the image name and it's full URL. Use that information to debug the issue. Check the path from the URL, check for typos or missing characters and so on.

As i had the same problem untill i fixed it :)

thenewuser 06-20-2007 11:00 AM

well done!

twilighthush 07-01-2007 02:19 PM

For some reason, while the gender option does show up in the control panel for users to edit, it does not show up in the registration. Can someone help me troubleshoot?

twilighthush 07-01-2007 10:52 PM

I had it previously installed on 3.6.0, but once I upgraded to 3.6.7, it stopped working. Now, if I manually select my information via AdminCP, the gender option shows up, HOWEVER, users cannot see it in "Edit Profile" nor do they have a field for it during registration.

The postbit hack does allow the field to show up, however, I cannot seem to edit the postbit hack divs to make it streamlined with postbit_legacy. Please help me troubleshoot this issue. Thanks!

The Scriblerian 07-03-2007 01:19 PM

The image links are broken even though I've looked over everything and it all looks great.

katie hunter 07-12-2007 01:53 AM

Hi I tried and install it but it doesn't show the images of the genders. I install it on
Greenfox and Element Blue skin btw but didn't work ;x only option is there to select male or female but to show the small icon of the gender inside threads it doesn't show up .

Can someone help plz?

RvG2 08-03-2007 07:03 PM

STEP ONE

Create the following new profile field.
Type: Single-Selection Menu
Title: Gender
Description: Select your gender
Options: Male
Female
Set Default: None

Allow user to input own value: No

Display page: Edit Profile

===========================

It works... but I think there's something to be changed here. Either to change:

Male -> male (because image was named as male.gif)
Female -> female (because image was named as female.gif)

or

rename male.gif to Male.gif
rename female.gif to Female.gif

Thanks. It works on 3.6.7 pl1.

Ohiosweetheart 08-09-2007 09:49 AM

Works like a charm! This is really a good add-on for my new forum. Thank you :)
