Good idea. I can link it to the permission. Just a small icon on the balloon for those usergroups that have the right to do so. Or maybe a small menu.

Is it possible to set it so that people can edit their own posts but not everyone else's. When people make a mistake I have to delete or fix it but if I set it to let registered users edit entries they are then able to edit everyones.

The datamodel (table) should support it.

Normally the permissions are set on a usergroup level.

I thought that that should be sufficient if you allow mods or a special group edit rights and only admin delete rights.

But if a majority feels like a user should be able to edit their own entries.

This isn't really a userbased application. At least it's not intended to be one.

Hi Stonyarc - another great product.

I am experiencing a basic issue though - I cannot add any entries. When I click on "Insert the information" - it gives me the "redirecting to main googlemap page", but there are no markers added. I had filled in all the information.

There are no errors in any of the logs - so cannot figure out how to resolve this. All usergroup permissions have been double checked.

Is there some way to enable debugging?

Thanks,

UPDATE - I have just enabled the "Auto-approve additions" and this has now started working. Is this essentially an ON-OFF toggle?

Ben

This is just an option in place so that when you enable all user entry you'll have an approval process in the admincp.

Also when you want to do something special (showing only a certain type for a certain period) you can just take some stuff offline without deleting it

It's all in the features.

For my site it is a user based function. My site is for open canoers and this map is used for members to mark the location of river access points and places of interest in their area.

Still a great hack and does pretty much everything I could ask it would just save on admin time if users could fix their own entries. After a while they will probably make less mistakes anyway ;)

All,

Can you send me your request ASAP so I can close the roadmap for the next version

CodeRed 05-04-2006 01:08 PM

can the map display height be adjusted as it stands now? if not, is that something that may be an option to add... not sure how feasible it is on your end.

thanks. love the mod no doubt

I had a tiny problem. When I change the date, it reverts back to the old date entry when go back to edit the details page again. The new date shows up in the popup bubble, but when I go to edit again, the old date shows up, so unless I change the date again, the old date will show up in the popup bubble.

It's a small issue. I'll correct it in the next release.

Having a small problem when ive been playing with it. If i have 2 markers added and then i add a 3rd marker when i list elements with no filters so i see all makers if i try to del the 3rd marker it will del the 2nd marker and not the 3rd marker. Tried it a few times and keep getting the same thing, thought at first i was just clicking the wrong one on the list but seems to del the older markers on me and not the one i want deleted.

I can simulate it.

I'll check and release an update with these 2 fixes ASAP.

I've just installed!
This is, by no doubt, the best hack I've ever seen https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/05/32.gif !

Still making up your roadmap? Here is my wishlist https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2006/05/33.gif:

- Edit-function only for self-written/set elements. Users should not been allowed to edit other user's entries. Admins and Mods of course should be able! (I think this has been asked for already?)

- Upload-function for the image on the marker instead of "URL of the image for the marker"

- Each given item / possiblities to fill should be able to switch on and off for each category. Because I want to avoid, that users just use it for spamming their website for example. Also for some categories it makes no sense to add a date for example.

- A possibility in AdminCP to set width and height of the main map

- Answer-feature at the details page

- Possibility to specify an own template just for Google maps

And here some "bugs" - are they?

- The WYSIWYG-editor doesn't show an upload-function as it does in the 'normal' forum. Why? Is it a bug?

- The WYSIWYG-editor shows a button called 'Script-Eingabeaufforderung', which is not shown in the forum's WYSIWYG-editor. What is this for? Couldn't this be a problem with security?

- The smiley-list doesn't show correctly!

Sch?ne Gr??e,
Andreas

This is probably data related.

just a quickie which could be altered on the next release, the web page title shows member map not Hot Spot Edition

johnstires 05-08-2006 01:25 AM

I haven't fully explored this great Mod yet, but here are some things that would be useful IMO:

1. Allow users to see both map and list mode together. (i.e. http://www.pbnation.com/fieldshow.php?state=pa)
2. Allow the addition of custom fields to elements ala the Links Directory Mod
3. Allow categories to have different sets of fields. For instance, say I want to have a category for events that has fields ABC, yet I want a location event to have fields DEF.
4. Allow everything to be searchable. (i.e. type in a zip to see everything in that locale)
5. Add address fields.
6. Allow admins to select any color they want for markers. Allow unlimited marker categories.
6. All in all I think the Links Directory Mod is a good roadmap, they have alot of good assets, yet they don't have a map.

Keep up the good work, I will be following your progress.

It's indeed a work in progress.
I'm finishing the Member Edition build with some new features and I'm starting the roadmap somewhere this week if it doesn't get to busy at work and with xboxusersgroup.com (it's E3 this week so a lot of news coming our way).

The version currently online shouldn't give that error anymore. You probably don't have the most recent build.

Can you please download again. You can see it as an upgrade. overwrite the php and upload the product again with overwrite to yes.

Yes you can. The G key is valid for all the things you do in the same domain/folder

Is there a way to filter items on the main map? There is a way to filter items, but it only shows them on a list. I would like this option very much on the map. I have tons of categories, and and lots of points on each one, and would need a way to filter these out. (Too many points to display, if displaying everything.)

Thanks

sorry for the n00b question but...
before I go install this stuff (looks awesome btw)...

does this work in conjunction with the Member edition or is it either or? (ie: you can use this OR member edition?) or is are they meant to go together?

<< sorry ...didn't see it this question anywhere and didn't want to read through 20398409234809324098 posts. :p
