Oblivion Knight 04-22-2006 03:15 PM

Could be a WYSIWIG editor problem?

I haven't tried it, but it seems most likely.. ;)

SS9267547 04-22-2006 03:37 PM

Oblivion Knight could you do a quick test for me? Just make a new glossary entry with linebreaks and with a image? Something like dendrob posted. Would like to know if anyone else has the same issue on the user side. Thanks!

Oblivion Knight 04-22-2006 03:48 PM

I managed to reproduce it, seems to be a bug with the following text editor and the Glossary:
Basic Editor - A simple text box

Interesting.

SS9267547 04-22-2006 03:51 PM

Thank you! Now I know where I can start looking for this, of course I'm not seeing the problem tho so it might take a while lol ;)

dendrob 04-22-2006 08:21 PM

Great ! I thought I was going insane :) btw, I'm not using WYSIWYG, I use the standard editor

Also a useful feature would be to have a toggle switch in vbGlossary Settings in CP to show or not to show the "Last Updated:" line on all the glossary terms. In my case, I'll have all the terms fixed/validated by a single user, so it's not really necessary. I'm sure some other peeps would find that useful

SS9267547,

You have a very professional approach to your work. This is just a comment to say it is appreciated.

The way you organize and structure the update emails and basenote makes it so much easier vs other hacks to figure out what's going on!

ex: Having these sections is great!

Beautiful work. Can't wait to try the hack!

You guys are welcome! Happy to hear that you are enjoying my work here

The way I do set it up with the information is for me to better review what needs to be done and that you guys can see a quick over view of all reported bugs, features, etc. without reading every single post here.

RS_Jelle 04-23-2006 01:50 PM

A (big) bug: the normal search function (in glossary.php) isn't working any more (it's always giving the "no results" page). The search function is the AdminCP and the ModCP is working good.

A suggestion: putting keywords in the title of the page for better seo (search engine optimization) :)
Now it's always "Your forum name - Glossary". It would be better to put also the name of a term in the title when you view a single term. For example: "Your forum name - Glossary [ MP3 ]".

And another one: a link to the glossary settings in the vBGlossary Basics navgroup in the AdminCP.

SS9267547 04-23-2006 02:01 PM

The problem with the search is beucase there is a missing template that isn't installed with the product for the user side.

With the other ideas I'll look into that however not sure yet how to link to the settings in the navbar.

I mean the vBGlossary Basics navgroup in the AdminCP, not the navbar :)
Just add the following to cpnav_vbglossary.xml :
Code:

                <navoption>
                        <phrase>settings</phrase>
                        <link>options.php?do=options&amp;dogroup=vbglossary</link>
                </navoption>

SS9267547 04-23-2006 02:25 PM

I meant I didn't know the link to it on the admin side heehe. Thanks for the information! Will add to next release. ;)

Same here and also e-mail notifications are not send

SS9267547 04-24-2006 08:02 PM

Streicher: With the e-mail notifications. Who is the emails set to send to? Also is the email option set to 'yes'? Any errors come up? Any additional information would be great. Thanks.

Streicher 04-25-2006 02:26 PM

E-MailOption is set to Yes and the userids are comma separated. There are no errors shown and i don't get any mail after one of my moderators added a new term.

Deska 04-26-2006 12:00 AM

Any ETA for new version? :D
Waiting mode "ON"

SS9267547 04-26-2006 03:29 AM

Deska: Well I wanted to get all the new features for the next version however I think I will limit the next release with just the crossing link feature and bug fixes so there are some updates to those bugs. I'd say sometime this week.

Streicher: Hmm I'll have to look into this then. Maybe try to just your userid and then add a term. See if it works or not.

Can't wait ! My glossary is up and running beautifully, crosslinking of the terms will be all I need.

SS9267547 04-26-2006 12:21 PM

Well as long as I can get the crosslink feature to work since I've been having trouble thinking of a way to do so lol. :)

caliman 04-27-2006 03:25 AM

I just installed ... here are my observations:

- 'Delete' phrase is missing from glossary tool pulldown.

- Usergroup permissions ... edit/delete would be nice for 'own' entries. So a member can't edit another member's entries. Or is this how it works?

- It would be really nice to have 'submitted by' under definition.

- It would be really nice to have last 10 submissions on glossary homepage.

- It would be nice if admin could choose to receive email notifications of new submissions regardless if validation is required or not.

Thanks for everything so far! Nice hack.

SS9267547 04-27-2006 11:21 AM

caliman: With the delete/edit 'own' entries I don't think it is needed for this hack however if I'm wrong and others would like that option added then I might do so. Right now the way it is, is the way it works with the permissions. With the other oprions I'd have to think it over but I'm might add. However with the email notification I belive it should send regardless if you have vaildation on since its a different option. Would require additional testing to see if thats true for the user side.

That's what I am saying. ;)

THank you sir! ... if you could punch some of those suggestions in, I am sure it would be appreciated.

msgotit 04-28-2006 07:31 PM

When I tried to go to the glossary page for the first time I got an error, on line 157 of the file you had mysql_num_rows...

You should have $db->num_rows, or one of the variations of this, I noticed you have it right a lot of other places, so I figured it was just an oversight... and I am not positive why it gave me the error, but either way this is what should be there.

Nice mod, and good work with all the improvements!

Mark

EDIT: By the way what template is missing and do you have the code so I can add it...

Well I don't know about a comment function, I think this would be good for an article system, which if there is a damn for I'll maybe do. However there is already few article programs out there already.
Not exactly, there's none out there that really an article system IMHO, they only display/use vb title and teak it to make it look like an article. If you could make it optional for 2/3 colums, a category block, a newest article block, a most popular (view or rated) block, your article will beat them all.

SS9267547 04-29-2006 03:25 AM

msgotit: Thanks for information. Fixed 'mysql_num_rows' and added to 1.1.2 release. As for the template you can live 2 more days without it before the next release. ;)

ConKien: Well the thing is this is a glossary hack not a article hack however once this glossary hack is complete I will be working on a review system so I mit do an article system too. We'll see what kind of mood I'm in and if really another article hack is needed here on vb.org or course since I'm making one for myself I guses there isn't any that I like here lol.

SS9267547 04-29-2006 09:34 AM

Yes, the option is somewhat in the works lol. I might be able to have something working as long as I can figure it out.

SS9267547 05-01-2006 01:22 AM

Just a note to all, beucase I decided to change the crosslinking code and the way it is done the release of the next version could be a few more days now.

Deska 05-01-2006 03:48 AM

Expanding my waiting days....

dendrob 05-02-2006 02:09 AM

Ladies and gents...we're getting close :)

SS9267547 05-02-2006 02:14 AM

Yes very close, should have the crosslinking working now for the glossary but as well a bonus! Lol the feature will now work for forum posts, well at least from my tests, sure there will be bugs with it heh.

Deska 05-02-2006 03:18 AM

Release it asap please :D

SS9267547 05-03-2006 04:05 AM

Havn't had to much free time to finish this small update but its done at last lol. As always before you upgrade please do note to backup your glossary database just in case the upgrade does not work. Like I said this is a small update but here is what it has.

The following is what you'll see:
  • 10 new phrases.
  • 1 new template edit.
  • 1 new plugin.
  • 3 new files.
  • Crosslinking repeated glossary terms to other glossary terms with glossary tooltip feature as well crosslinking within forum posts.
  • Fixed all missing phrases in last release.
  • Fixed missing template plus other template fixes.
  • Add settings options to navgroup in the AdminCP.
  • Add glossary term name to page title.
  • Fixed user delete options code.
  • Fixed mysql_num_rows code variation.
Known Bugs For Version 1.1.2:
  • PM messages will not send if pm quota for any admins is full and/or their PM system is off.
  • Line breaks go missing with the Basic Editor.

Enjoy! If there are problems or you have ideas for this hack please do post! To see the new features that have been added in action see the screenshots.

Deska 05-03-2006 04:23 AM

Thank's for the update SS9267547 :D

Thanks for your hard work on this great addition!

SS9267547 05-03-2006 12:11 PM

Hmmm not sure what the problem is. Its working for me at the moment.

SS9267547 05-03-2006 12:29 PM

louis_chypher and Deska, what version of php do you have installed on your server?

The version of php installed on the server is 4.3.11

dendrob 05-03-2006 02:04 PM

OH!!!!! You're my absolute hero !

found 3 bugs/tweaks, some very minor.

1 If a term is followed by a comma or a period it won't get crosslinked.
2 Also, in the glossary would be nice not to crosslink to its own definition, Example
3. Search spitting out html code, Example

overall, 5 thumbs up :)
