Could be a WYSIWIG editor problem?
I haven't tried it, but it seems most likely.. ;) |
Oblivion Knight could you do a quick test for me? Just make a new glossary entry with linebreaks and with a image? Something like dendrob posted. Would like to know if anyone else has the same issue on the user side. Thanks!
|
I managed to reproduce it, seems to be a bug with the following text editor and the Glossary:
Basic Editor - A simple text box Interesting. |
Thank you! Now I know where I can start looking for this, of course I'm not seeing the problem tho so it might take a while lol ;)
|
Great ! I thought I was going insane :) btw, I'm not using WYSIWYG, I use the standard editor
Also a useful feature would be to have a toggle switch in vbGlossary Settings in CP to show or not to show the "Last Updated:" line on all the glossary terms. In my case, I'll have all the terms fixed/validated by a single user, so it's not really necessary. I'm sure some other peeps would find that useful |
SS9267547,
You have a very professional approach to your work. This is just a comment to say it is appreciated. The way you organize and structure the update emails and basenote makes it so much easier vs other hacks to figure out what's going on! ex: Having these sections is great! Screenshots For Version 1.1.1 Known Bugs For Version 1.1.1: Current Planned Features For Version 1.1.2 (along with % complete!) Beautiful work. Can't wait to try the hack! Stachel |
funny you say that, I was just admiring that myself about an hr ago :) Great job indeed !

You guys are welcome! Happy to hear that you are enjoying my work here
The way I do set it up with the information is for me to better review what needs to be done and that you guys can see a quick over view of all reported bugs, features, etc. without reading every single post here. |
A (big) bug: the normal search function (in glossary.php) isn't working any more (it's always giving the "no results" page). The search function is the AdminCP and the ModCP is working good.
A suggestion: putting keywords in the title of the page for better seo (search engine optimization) :) Now it's always "Your forum name - Glossary". It would be better to put also the name of a term in the title when you view a single term. For example: "Your forum name - Glossary [ MP3 ]". And another one: a link to the glossary settings in the vBGlossary Basics navgroup in the AdminCP. |
The problem with the search is beucase there is a missing template that isn't installed with the product for the user side.
With the other ideas I'll look into that however not sure yet how to link to the settings in the navbar. |

Just add the following to cpnav_vbglossary.xml : Code:
<navoption> |
I meant I didn't know the link to it on the admin side heehe. Thanks for the information! Will add to next release. ;)

Streicher: With the e-mail notifications. Who is the emails set to send to? Also is the email option set to 'yes'? Any errors come up? Any additional information would be great. Thanks.
|
E-MailOption is set to Yes and the userids are comma separated. There are no errors shown and i don't get any mail after one of my moderators added a new term.
|
Any ETA for new version? :D
Waiting mode "ON" |
Deska: Well I wanted to get all the new features for the next version however I think I will limit the next release with just the crossing link feature and bug fixes so there are some updates to those bugs. I'd say sometime this week.
Streicher: Hmm I'll have to look into this then. Maybe try to just your userid and then add a term. See if it works or not. |

Well as long as I can get the crosslink feature to work since I've been having trouble thinking of a way to do so lol. :)
|
I just installed ... here are my observations:
- 'Delete' phrase is missing from glossary tool pulldown. - Usergroup permissions ... edit/delete would be nice for 'own' entries. So a member can't edit another member's entries. Or is this how it works? - It would be really nice to have 'submitted by' under definition. - It would be really nice to have last 10 submissions on glossary homepage. - It would be nice if admin could choose to receive email notifications of new submissions regardless if validation is required or not. Thanks for everything so far! Nice hack. |
caliman: With the delete/edit 'own' entries I don't think it is needed for this hack however if I'm wrong and others would like that option added then I might do so. Right now the way it is, is the way it works with the permissions. With the other oprions I'd have to think it over but I'm might add. However with the email notification I belive it should send regardless if you have vaildation on since its a different option. Would require additional testing to see if thats true for the user side.

THank you sir! ... if you could punch some of those suggestions in, I am sure it would be appreciated. |
When I tried to go to the glossary page for the first time I got an error, on line 157 of the file you had mysql_num_rows...
You should have $db->num_rows, or one of the variations of this, I noticed you have it right a lot of other places, so I figured it was just an oversight... and I am not positive why it gave me the error, but either way this is what should be there. Nice mod, and good work with all the improvements! Mark EDIT: By the way what template is missing and do you have the code so I can add it... |

msgotit: Thanks for information. Fixed 'mysql_num_rows' and added to 1.1.2 release. As for the template you can live 2 more days without it before the next release. ;)
ConKien: Well the thing is this is a glossary hack not a article hack however once this glossary hack is complete I will be working on a review system so I mit do an article system too. We'll see what kind of mood I'm in and if really another article hack is needed here on vb.org or course since I'm making one for myself I guses there isn't any that I like here lol. |
Yes, the option is somewhat in the works lol. I might be able to have something working as long as I can figure it out.
|
Just a note to all, beucase I decided to change the crosslinking code and the way it is done the release of the next version could be a few more days now.
|
Expanding my waiting days....
|
Ladies and gents...we're getting close :)
|
Yes very close, should have the crosslinking working now for the glossary but as well a bonus! Lol the feature will now work for forum posts, well at least from my tests, sure there will be bugs with it heh.
|
Release it asap please :D
|
Havn't had to much free time to finish this small update but its done at last lol. As always before you upgrade please do note to backup your glossary database just in case the upgrade does not work. Like I said this is a small update but here is what it has.
The following is what you'll see:
Enjoy! If there are problems or you have ideas for this hack please do post! To see the new features that have been added in action see the screenshots. |
Thank's for the update SS9267547 :D
Edit: I got these errors when enable Glossary Crosslinking & Forum Post Glossary Crosslinking :( : Code:
Warning: preg_replace(): Unknown modifier 'M' in /includes/functions_glossary.php on line 49 |
