perfphysio 12-05-2006 09:57 AM

My you tube BB Code has stopped working in 3.6.4 in firefox browser 1.5.0.8

It mall formats the actual link. You can see an axample at the beginning of an existing post at http://www.physiobob.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3510

The first word was a link working perfectly until a recent upgrade. This might be a firefox issue or it might be a vbulletin issue. This is because I also have now seen that my plugin which does the same thing for adding utube plugins is also asking to install a plug to make it work!

I attach a screen shot of that as well for you interest in case it help to work out where the issue might be coming from.

The link in that post that you mention is unresolvable, and why is there an asterisk in it?

http://www.physiobob.com/forum/*http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plantar

And what exactly has that problem got to do with this YouTube Mod??

This is the BUG/Issue. This is therefore not working any longer in IE or Firefox. The link is not resolving correctly for wikipedia? I have no idea why there is a * in there? Also the end should say Plantar_fasciitis in the link not just Plantar

Changed the BBcode tho, may be of use to others so posted it here (we also take advantage of autoplay the video is not played until the user clicks AGREE to a small disclaimer. Some code borrowed from the anymedia plugin so credit where its due :)

Code:

<table class="tborder" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="1" border="0" width="466">

  <tr><td class="smallfont" align="right"><a href="#" onclick="return toggle_collapse('{param}')"></a><a href="#" onclick="return toggle_collapse('{param}')"> I AGREE</a></td></tr>
  <tbody id="collapseobj_{param}" style="display:none;"><tr><td class="alt1" align="center"><object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/{param}&autoplay=1"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/{param}&autoplay=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object></td></tr></tbody>
</table>

Hello,

For some reason videos were not showing up when using the initial code so I installed this and now the videos show up great in firefox.

Thanks, this worked great for fixing the firefox problem. Now off to test opera. Boy, I hope it works.

Nuguru :)

Nice thing, but how can i restrict some Forums to allow or not to use this code. I woud like to have same control about this funktion like the "img" bb-code.

Regards
Eric

Recommendation -

When you post a Youtube video near the top of a thread (I'm using the legacy postbit too) and subsequently try to use the Thread Tools drop down to edit/stick/whatever, the menu drops down behind the YouTube layer.

One of my admins suggested the following alteration:

Code:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/{param}"></param><embed wmode="transparent" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/{param}" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Here's a 100$ question :)

Is there any way to "hide" the YouTube video under a button, like a spoiler tag for instance? Here's an example of what I mean:

http://forum.computergames.ro/11-rpg...l#post36649080

The Spoiler tag code looks like this:

<div class="spoiler" style="display:inline"><input type="button" class="button" onClick="showSpoiler(this);" value="Show spoiler: {option}"> <span class="content" style="display:none">{param}</span></div>

And the example: [spoiler=My movie Title]My neat spoiler[/spoiler]

Any help would be greatly appreciated :o

I have an idea as well.

There is a perfect compliment to this mod.
We need to figure out how to add the YouTube button as an Icon on the forum index next to posts that have videos embedded in them.

I brought this up in the mod suggestion forum recently.

Much like the paperclip shows up for attachments.

SOMEBODY HELP! THIS WOULD BE GREAT, NO?

:)

Darek72ks 01-11-2007 04:22 PM

Anyone else like this idea?
I wish I knew where to start here. I might be able to bang it out with some direction.

Bump!

Anyone?

Reverend 01-25-2007 06:45 PM

Got a browser problem with the videos. Only see a small icon. (see attached)

PS - i know its not the code causing it because others can see the videos.

Reverend 01-25-2007 07:00 PM

Fixed it. Reinstalled flash.

dj_EMPYRE 01-29-2007 08:09 PM

Nice got this working and it's pretty good! Just want to know tho, when you link like this to photobucket or youtube (embed) does it count again your traffic count (bandwidth) for my site or thiers?

Spank 02-02-2007 11:08 AM

^ I [s]hope[/s] assume, it goes from their bandwidth.

Nice little mod. 3 thumbs up from me.

Also made a little button you can use:

Black Widow 02-08-2007 04:01 PM

cool hack.

thanks man...

shiola 02-14-2007 03:03 PM

One page back you'll find an image to add to your toolbar - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....5&postcount=81

shiola 02-14-2007 04:09 PM

Thought this shouldn't be too hard to convert Danny's mod to Google Video...and it isn't.

Here's the Replacement code:
Quote:

<param name="movie" value="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId={param}"></param><embed style="width:400px; height:326px;" id="VideoPlayback" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId={param}" flashvars=""></embed>
Works for me in both IE7 and FF1.5. Here it is in action - http://www.shiola.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=46719

There's also a Google Icon for your toolbar too.

angelces 02-17-2007 05:09 PM

didn't read the whole thread so I'm not sure if anyone else did this...

but i used the embed to bring in a thumbnail of the vid and linked to the full size one...

Code:

<object width="250" height="206"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/{param}"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/{param}" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="250" height="206"></embed></object>
<br>
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v={param}" target="_blank">Click for vid on You Tube</a>

I wanted a button image with proper transparency and I could not find any ready-made, so I made this one.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/03/21.gif

I hope some people find it useful. It is the correct size and with a transparent background, so it will look good with whatever style you have.

es-league.com 03-05-2007 07:06 AM

HS2005 03-05-2007 12:37 PM

Very small BBCode, but very nice! Added it to my forum and it's very handy :)

dano 03-15-2007 06:20 PM

Did anyone get this for their quick reply yet? I would love to drop the button there.

calvis 04-04-2007 08:29 PM

Can you believe I am having probs with this:

For my output I am getting....

******* src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ejOJkcs-a7s" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="460" height="364" wmode="transparent">

No Video. What should I be looking for?

derzulya 04-06-2007 06:04 AM

aztecboi2003 05-10-2007 02:21 AM

Works great in 3.6.5 but is there a way that when they click the play button on the video, it doesn't take then to youtube, instead leaves them on my site?

Snake 05-17-2007 06:23 PM

Is this going to work just fine on v3.6.7?

Petchay 05-19-2007 05:00 PM

Woot! works great as you said !

Maksa 05-20-2007 04:08 PM

will it work with 3.6.5?

Ohiosweetheart 05-20-2007 04:34 PM

It appears that, for the people above, it does.

Snake 05-22-2007 01:13 PM

Wow thanks!

dgriessmann 05-22-2007 01:40 PM

Is there something this easy for Google Video and regular Flash video?

dgriessmann 05-24-2007 02:24 AM

Does this mean there isn't any????
